Description

  • The invention relates to a hinged gully cover, comprising a cover as well as a hinge that is fixed to the cover and has two hinge pins located on opposing sides of the cover, at least one of which hinge pins can be moved between a pushed-in and a pushed-out position, such that when the at least one movable hinge pin is in the pushed-in position the gully cover can be fitted in a gully body provided with two opposing openings in which the respective hinge pins can be accommodated.
  • A gully cover of this type is disclosed in JP-A 09328810. This known gully cover has a pin that is continuously held pressed into the protruding position by means of a spring. When the gully cover is fitted in a gully body the pin is moved into the pushed-in position, overcoming the spring force. After the gully cover has been placed in the desired position in the gully body, the hinge pin is pushed outwards under the influence of the spring force into the respective opening in the gully body.
  • A disadvantage of this is that this known gully cover can be removed again by pushing back the hinge pin. However, this is not necessary in normal use and increases the risk of misuse such as in the case of vandalism.
  • The aim of the invention is, therefore, to provide a gully cover of the abovementioned type that does not have this disadvantage. Said aim is achieved in that the movable hinge pin is accommodated in a chamber in the hinge in a sealed manner, which chamber is connected via a channel to a mouth on the outside of the hinge, such that the hinge pin can be moved outwards with respect to the chamber by applying a raised pressure to the mouth. The raised pressure can, for example, be obtained by injecting a paste-like material.
  • In the case of the gully cover according to the invention it is possible, on the one hand, for fitting to take place on site where the gully body has already been installed. This makes the work easier, since it is now not necessary to install the finished gully with gully cover and gully body as a unit. On the other hand, the gully cover can no longer be removed, in view of the permanent fixing that has been produced after hardening of the paste-like material, such as a mastic.
  • Preferably, the movable hinge pin and the respective chamber have stops to determine the outermost pushed-out position of said hinge pin. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the hinge pin being pushed too far outwards.
  • The invention also relates to the combination of a gully cover as described above, comprising a cover as well as a hinge that is fixed to or cast on the cover and has two hinge pins located on opposing sides of the cover, at least one of which hinge pins is accommodated in a chamber in the hinge such that it can move, and a gully body provided with two opposing openings, into each of which a hinge pin extends. According to the invention the at least one hinge pin is accommodated in the chamber in the hinge in a sealed manner, which chamber is connected via a channel to a mouth on the outside of the hinge and which chamber is partially filled with a medium for maintaining the position of the hinge pin in which the latter extends into the respective opening in the gully body.
  • Finally, the invention relates to a method for producing the combination described above, comprising the following steps:
    • the provision of a gully cover comprising a cover as well as a hinge that is fixed to the cover and has two hinge pins located on opposing sides of the cover, at least one of which can be moved between a pushed-in position and a pushed-out position, which movable hinge pin, in the pushed-in position, is accommodated in a chamber in the hinge in a sealed manner, which chamber is connected via a channel to a mouth on the outside of the hinge,
    • the provision of a gully body with two opposing openings,
    • fitting the gully cover in the gully body, such that the hinge pins are in and/or opposite the respective openings thereof,
    • the application of a raised pressure to the mouth of the channel, for example by injection of a paste-like material, such that the at least one movable hinge pin is driven outwards and into the respective opening. The chamber can, for example, be filled with a mastic that can harden or solidify.
  • The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to an illustrative embodiment shown in the figures.
  • Figure 1 shows a plan view of a gully cover according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 shows a side view.
  • Figure 3 shows a detail of the gully cover with the gully body.
  • The gully cover 1 shown in Figure 1 comprises a cover 2, consisting of a number of obliquely positioned ribs 3 between which there are openings 4. The gully cover furthermore comprises a hinge 5 that is fixed to the cover 2 and that has a chamber 6 at one end and a fixed pin 7 at the other end.
  • A slidable pin 8 is accommodated in the chamber 6, which pin 8 is completely pushed in in the position shown in Figure 1. A channel 9 runs from this chamber 6 to the mouth 10 on the outside of the hinge 5.
  • The procedure when installing the gully cover is as follows. The gully cover is fitted in a gully body indicated in its entirety by 11. The fixed pin 7 is accommodated in an associated opening in the gully body 11, whilst the pushed-in hinge pin 8 is lined up with the opening 12 of the gully body 11 as shown in Figure 3.
  • In this position a mastic that can harden is introduced into the chamber 6 via the mouth 10 of the channel 9. Under the influence of the pressure that is built up in the chamber 6, the pin 8 slides outwards into the opening 12 of the gully body 11. A hinge joint between the gully cover 2 and the gully body 11 is thus produced. When, after some time, the mastic in the chamber 6 has hardened, the hinge fixing between gully cover 2 and gully body 11 has become definitive.
  • Reference has been made to a gully above; the invention can also be applied to a cesspit. Furthermore, a completely closed cover can be used instead of a cover with bars.
