Description

  • The invention relates to a cooling unit for motor vehicles with a fan hood and with heat exchangers, wherein at least one heat exchanger collecting tanks, wherein fastening means cooperate with fastening means on the collecting boxes or with fastening means on a mounting frame and wherein at least one of the fastening means as an elastic latching hook with a Latch and is formed with a stop for the latch.
    A known cooling unit of the type described above is apparent from DE 42 44 037 C2. In this cooling unit, fastening means on the edge of the ventilator hood interact with fastening means on the manifolds of a heat exchanger. Although the installation of the fan cowl in the known cooling unit is also possible when the cooling unit is already installed in a motor vehicle, the disassembly of the fan cowling seems to be simplified, because to solve the molded on two headers of the heat exchanger elastic locking hook, the means to be able to free from their locking position, a tool must be used. It seems at first glance difficult for a single assembler to solve both catch hooks at the same time with the usual dimensions of the cooling unit, but this is necessary to disassemble the fan cover. Furthermore, the arms provided, which run from the frame to the edge of the fan hood, while the stability of the same, but they occupy the already very scarce installation space in the vehicle and also, in particular if they have not been carefully deburred, a certain risk of injury the assembler dar.
    In DE 100 61 561 A1 or for example in WO 99/47875, a U-shaped mounting frame has been provided. In the mounting frame is one (or more) heat exchanger which is secured therein in a suitable manner. On the mounting frame fastening means are arranged, which cooperate with fastening means on the edge of the fan cowl. The mounting frame shown there has a cross member as a single part, which is to be mounted between the two free legs of the frame to give the mounting frame the necessary rigidity.
  • A refrigeration unit with the features of the preamble of claim 1 is also known from FR-2 794 170.
  • The object of the invention is to improve the described and in itself progressive solutions, in particular with regard to the dismantling of the fan cover on.
    The solution according to the invention results from the features in the characterizing part of claim 1.
    Because the elastic latching hook on the edge of the fan cover - not the collecting box - is formed, which engages when attaching the fan hood in a receptacle on the collecting box or mounting frame, and because above the junction of the latching hook an extension is formed, wherein by a compressive force on the extension the locking hook detachable and the fan cover is removable, the assembly, but especially the disassembly, the fan cover has been further simplified, because a single person is able to release the locking hook by pressing the extension and the fan hood without using a tool to take out above.
    The snap hook forms in its latching position with the approximately U - shaped (two-legged) recording a fixed bearing between the fan hood and collecting tank. Among other things, it is possible to reduce the number of fasteners in total.
    The latching hook can be latched into the receptacle in a form-fitting manner such that in the Z direction pointing upwards and downwards the latching lug is limited to the stop in the receptacle (top) and below by the contact of the latching hook on the bottom of the receptacle in the movement the latching hook in the Y direction (transverse direction of the vehicle) embraces one leg of the receptacle on both sides, and that the latching hook in the X direction (longitudinal direction of the vehicle) has only slight play between the two legs of the receptacle.
    The latching hook is in connection with the recording, the only attachment means on one side of the cooling unit.
    At the latching hook, approximately at the height of the latching nose, pointing to the opposite side of the latching nose, an extension is formed, which extends to the one leg of the receptacle to secure the latching hook against unintentional release. The extension is also effective as a support and thus distributes the absorption forces, whereby the breakage of the receptacle or the latching hook is prevented.
  • On the opposite side of the latch hook of the cooling unit, three fastening means are arranged, of which the upper fastening means is designed as a further fixed bearing. In cases in which an upwardly open U - shaped mounting frame is used, the two fixed bearings cause that an upper traverse between the two legs of the mounting frame can be omitted.
    Each two further fastening means are arranged on the opposite transverse sides (Y-direction) of the cooling unit, which are formed as pins and hooks on the edge of the fan cowl, which are to be fastened to the side parts of the heat exchanger up and down. The upper and lower attachment means are not arranged on a common vertical. The upper attachment means are preferably closer to the left and right collection boxes than the lower attachment means. Here, a significant reduction in the number of fasteners compared to the prior art has been achieved.
  • The invention will be described below in two embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.
    Fig. 1 shows a perspective view from the rear of the cooling unit and Fig. 2 shows an enlarged detail, namely around the latching hook. Fig. 3 shows a very simplified perspective view of a second embodiment.
  • The cooling unit of the embodiment is formed with a cross-flow cooler as a heat exchanger 2 , in which the collecting boxes 3 , 4 are arranged vertically in the installation position shown on the left and right side of the heat exchanger 2 . The collecting boxes 3 , 4 are made of plastic. A fan hood 1 , also made of plastic, has been arranged in front of the heat exchanger 2 in the direction of travel (FIG. 2 -X direction) of the motor vehicle. The fan hood 1 has a central opening which is surrounded by a frame 31 . From the frame 31 run carrier 32 star-shaped towards the center. In the center, a fan 30 is mounted with a drive unit in a manner not shown and known per se. During operation, the fan 30 draws in cooling air through the network of the heat exchanger 2 , which is blown out in the direction of the engine compartment, where it may be used for further cooling purposes and then discharged. The network of the heat exchanger 2 consists of flat tubes 50 with between them arranged corrugated fins 40 , of which only a few have been indicated. The cooling unit also includes, inter alia, an oil cooler 60 , which is fastened in a manner not shown in detail here on the fan hood 1 and which serves for the transmission oil cooling by means of the circulating coolant of the internal combustion engine, also not shown.
  • Around the periphery of the fan hood 1 around the edge 6 a plurality of fastening means 5a are arranged, which cooperate with corresponding ebensolchen 5b to the headers 3 and 4 and to the side parts 25 (top), 26 (bottom) of the heat exchanger 2 . It does not actually have to be mentioned separately that all fastening means 5a, 5b made of plastic molded onto the collecting boxes 3, 4 are also made of plastic with a certain elasticity. Towards the upper side part 25 , there are two fastening means 5 , of which only one can be seen, and below, two fastening means 5 are likewise provided. Furthermore, on the left edge 6 of the fan hood 1 or on the left header box 3, only one fastening means 5a, 5b is provided, which will be discussed in more detail below (FIG. 2), and on the opposite side there are three fastening means 5a, 5b . two of which can be seen. Two of these three fastening means 5 consist of a hook-like support 5b, which are integrally formed on the collecting box 4 and of pin-like projections 5a, which are integrally formed on the edge 6 of the fan hood 1 , wherein the projections 5a engage in the support 5b when attaching the fan cover 1 from above , In FIG. 1, one of these fastening means 5a, 5b can be seen on the right side. On the same side, another fastening means 5a, 5b is formed as a fixed bearing above. The fixed bearing is designed so that tolerances between the heat exchanger 2 and the fan cover 1 can be compensated. In the exemplary embodiment, a fastening member 22 is provided by a not shown opening in the fan hood side fastening means (projection 5a ) and a blind bore also not shown in the collecting box 4 . The fastening member 22 is located at the upper end of the cooling unit, thus in a very accessible location, and it can be removed in the case of disassembly with a single handle. The above-mentioned upper fastening means are hooks which grip over the edge of the upper side part 25 and the lower fastening means 5 are pins on the edge 6 of the fan hood 1 , which are inserted into matching slots in the lower side part 26 . It should be apparent from FIG. 1 It can be seen that the upper attachment means 5 are arranged somewhat closer to the collection box 3 or 4 than the lower attachment means 5 .
  • Fig. 2 shows the important in the present context details of the fastener 5a on the left edge 6 of the fan cover 1 and the left collection box 3 in an enlarged detail, however, in Fig. 1, the locked position of the latching hook 7 is shown and in FIG 2 shows the situation before insertion or after release. From the edge 6 of the fan hood 1 , a projection which is formed in the embodiment of three reinforced profiles 23 , 24 , 27 extends. The profiles 23 , 24 , 27 converge in a connection point 10 , in which the latching hook 7 with the profiles 23 , 24 , 27 is combined. Above the connection point 10 , the latching hook 7 has on its front side a latching lug 8 pointing in the X direction and, approximately at the same height, on its rear side an extension 20 pointing in the opposite direction . Further above, an extension 11 has been formed, which is for releasing of the latching hook 7 is used. Below the connection point 10 of the latching hook 7 in the manner of a U with two legs 28 , 29 is formed. The fastening means 5b on the collecting box 3 consist of a receptacle 9 for the latching hooks 7 . The receptacle 9 comprises a two-legged support with the cheeks 14 and 15 and with a bottom 13 , where the two cheeks 14 , 15 unite. Further, the recording 9 includes an integrally formed above the collecting box 3 stop 12 , to which the locking lug 8 of the latching hook 7 engages. When attaching the fan hood 1 , the same in the direction of the arrow shown in FIG. 2, ie down along the Z - axis, pushed. In this case, the two legs 28 and 29 of the latching hook 7, the cheek 14 of the receptacle 9 and the Auflagers. In the end position the latching hook 7 rests on the bottom 13 of the support and the locking lug 8 is exactly engaged beneath the stopper 12th Between the cheeks 14 and 15 , the latching hook 7 has only a small game. Thus, it can be seen that the latching hook 7 forms a fixed bearing in the receptacle 9 , because a freedom of movement is not present. In this locked position of the above-mentioned extension 20 comes on the latching hook 7 from the inside to rest on the cheek 14 , which prevents the fan cover 1 can solve about under the influence of vibration during operation (ie unintentionally). If the fan cover 1 to be dismantled, is on the extension 11 of the latching hook 7 a compressive force in the direction of above the Extend 11 drawn arrow exercise, whereupon the locking lug 8 is released and the fan cover 1 can be removed by means of the extension 11 upwards. This process can be carried out without the aid of a tool. Therefore, the end of the extension 11 is preferably formed with a trough for manual operation with a finger.
    Fig. 3 shows a basic embodiment with a mounting frame 70 , which may consist of metal or plastic. On the mounting frame 70 are not shown bearing with damping elements for supporting the cooling unit in the vehicle. The mounting frame 70 has two legs 71 and 72 and a same connecting lower cross member 73. In the mounting frame 70 , heat exchangers 2 are used and attached in a manner not shown. Often there are several in the cooling air flow direction one behind the other arranged heat exchanger 2 in the mounting frame 70th The border of the heat exchanger 2 was shown by dotted line. The rim 6 of the fan cowl 1 and its centric opening were drawn by means of dash-dot line. On the left leg 71 , a receptacle 9 and a stop 12 is arranged, which together with the elastic latching hook 7 shown in Fig. 2 at the edge 6 of the fan hood 1 form a fixed bearing. Another fixed bearing 74 is located at the same height on the right leg 72. Further, fastening means 5b are arranged on the lower cross member 73 , which cooperate with fastening means 5a, not shown here, on the edge 6 of the fan hood 1 . The fan cover 1 gives the mounting frame 70 sufficient rigidity, so that - in contrast to the prior art - an upper cross member between the legs 71 and 72 does not have to be provided.

Claims (10)

  1. Cooling unit for motor vehicles, comprising a fan hood (1) and comprising heat exchangers, whereof at least one heat exchanger (2) has collecting boxes (3, 4), wherein fastening means (5a) on the margin (6) of the fan hood (1) interact with fastening means (5b) on the collecting boxes (3, 4) or with fastening means (5b) on a mounting frame (70) and wherein at least one of the fastening means (5a, 5b) is configured as an elastic latch hook (7) having a latch boss (8) and having a stop (12) for the latch boss (8), wherein the elastic latch hook (7) is configured on the margin (6) of the fan hood (1) and, when the fan hood (1) is fitted, engages in a receiving fixture (9) on the collecting box (3) or on the mounting frame (70), characterized in that an extension (11) is configured above a point of attachment (10) of the latch hook (7), the latch hook (7) being able to be released and the fan hood (1) removed by a compressive force upon the extension (11).
  2. Cooling unit according to Claim 1, characterized in that the latch hook (7), in its engagement position in the roughly U-shaped (two side cheeks) receiving fixture (9), constitutes a fixed bearing between the fan hood (1) and the collecting box (3) or mounting frame (70).
  3. Cooling unit according to Claim 2, characterized
    in that the latch hook (7) can be positively engaged in the receiving fixture (9) in such a way that, in the upward and downward pointing Z-direction, the latch boss (8) is limited in its motion against a stop (12) in the receiving fixture (9, top) and at the bottom by the bearing contact of the latch hook (7) upon the base (13) of the receiving fixture (9),
    in that the latch hook (7), in the Y-direction (transverse direction of the vehicle), embraces on both sides a side cheek (14) of the receiving fixture (9),
    and in that the latch hook (7), in the X-direction (longitudinal direction of the vehicle), has only a small play between the two side cheeks (14, 15) of the receiving fixture (9).
  4. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the latch hook (7) in connection with the receiving fixture (9) is the sole fastening means (5) on one side of the cooling unit.
  5. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that formed onto the latch hook (7), roughly level with the latch boss (8) but on the opposite side thereto, is a continuation (20), which extends to a side cheek (14) of the receiving fixture (9) in order to secure the latch hook (7) against accidental release.
  6. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that on that side of the cooling unit which lies opposite to the latch hook (7) there are disposed two or three fastening means (5).
  7. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that on the opposite transverse sides (Y-direction) of the cooling unit there are respectively disposed two or three further fastening means (5), which are configured as pins and hooks on the margin of the fan hood, for fastening to side parts (25, 26) of the heat exchanger (2).
  8. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the point of attachment (10) of the latch hook (7) is configured on a projection on the margin (6) of the fan hood (1), which projection has profilings (23, 24, 27).
  9. Cooling unit according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the stop (12) is configured on the wall of the collecting box (3) or on the mounting frame (70).
  10. Cooling unit according to Claim 1, characterized in that the mounting frame (70) is an upwardly open U-profile, the two side members (71, 72) of which are connected by means of the fan hood (1) on fixed bearings (74) between the fan hood (1) and the side members (71) and (72).
