Abstract

The present invention relates to work tops (2) for household appliances. The work top (2) comprises at least one storage unit (3) and at least one recess (4) wherein said storage unit (3) is placed. The storage unit (3) is used as a multi-purpose unit, for instance, in case when said household appliance (1) is a dishwasher, said storage unit (3) is used as a cutlery drawer and in case said household appliance (1) is a washing machine, it is used for storing detergents, cleaning substances, laundry, etc.

Description

A WORK-TOP FOR HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES
The present invention relates to work tops for household appliances.
The work top used for household appliances, particularly for dish washers and washing machines, is for aesthetic purposes and for its load carrying feature, but does not have any functional characteristics. The only function it provides is to protect the components in the machine against external factors, although it constitutes an important cost item as it is placed on the top of the machine and draws the user's attention.
In the German Patent Application No.19922647, a household appliance on which a furniture drawer can be placed, is disclosed. This system facilitates the installation of a built-in appliance below the working bench when there are height differences and provides an aesthetic appearance matching with the kitchen furniture.
The object of the present invention is to realize a more functional work top for the household appliances.
The work top realized in order to attain the above mentioned object of the present invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein :
Figure 1, is the perspective view of the household appliance with a work top;
Figure 2, is the perspective view of the household appliance with a work top when the work top is separated from the appliance;
Figure 3, is the perspective view of a washing machine with a work top comprising detergent loading and storing compartments; Figure 4, is the perspective view of a refrigerator with a work top comprising storage compartments; Figure 5, is the perspective view of a dishwasher with a work top comprising storage units in the form of recesses;
Figure 6, is the perspective view of a dishwasher with a work top comprising storage units in the form of recesses wherein cutlery drawers are placed;
Figure 7, is the exploded view of a work top comprising storage units in the form of cutlery drawer;
Figure 8, is the perspective view of a worktop comprising a storage unit that is made movable by means of rollers and rails; Figure 9, is the perspective view of a work top comprising a storage unit that can be opened/closed by a sliding lid;
Figure 10, is the perspective view of a work top comprising a storage unit that can be opened/closed by an accordion lid;
Figure 11, is the perspective view of a work top comprising a cooking unit and a storage unit that moves laterally taking a hinge as the axis of rotation;
Figure 12, is the perspective view of a work top comprising a storage unit with a hinged lid;
Figure 13, is the perspective view of a household appliance comprising various storage units.
The components shown in the drawings have been enumerated individually as listed below :

The household appliance, for instance a washing machine, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, etc., wherein the present invention is used, comprises a work top (2) and a cabinet (10). The work top (2) can be produced as monoblbc together with the cabinet ( 10) or independently from said cabinet (10).
The work top (2) comprises at least one storage unit (3) and the height of the work top (2) is preferably more than the standard height in order to provide the storage unit (3) with more functionality. Said work top, according to the invention, is preferably used for the household appliances which are not built-in and which are independent units.
The storage unit (3) is used as a multi-purpose unit, for instance, in case when said household appliance (1) is a dishwasher, said storage unit (3) is used as a cutlery drawer and outside the machine, it is used as a dish-rack for drying the dishes and glasses; in case said household appliance (1) is a washing machine, it is used for storing detergents^ cleaning substances, laundry, etc.
When the household appliance (1) is used as an independent unit, the upper surface of the work top (2) is coated with an anti-slip material, in order to enhance its functionality. In this embodiment, the storage unit (3) is in the form of recesses formed on the surface of the work top.
In another embodiment of the invention, the work top (2) comprises a recess (4) wherein the storage unit (3) is placed. The recess (4) is in the form of depressed zones formed on the upper surface of the work top (2) and/or any opening on the lateral surface of the work top. Said recess (4) is also used for storage purposes.
In another embodiment of the invention, the work top upper surface is provided with more functionality for the benefit of the user, by using various storage units (3) in line with the shape and dimensions of the depressed zones formed on the surface e.g. in case the household appliance is a dish washer, these storage units (3) may be used as dish/glass racks, cutting board, and containers.
The movement and mounting of the storage unit (3) in the recess (4) are performed by using various methods.
In an embodiment of the invention, the work top (2) comprises grooves (11) and profiles (12) located in the recess (4) and / or in the storage unit (3). The storage units (3) can move in the recess (4) by virtue of the profiles (12) fitted into the grooves (11).
In another embodiment of the present invention, said work top (2) comprises rollers (8) and rails (7) located on the storage unit (3). Said rollers (8) and rails (7) facilitate the movement of the storage unit (3) in the recess (4).
In another embodiment of the present invention, said work top (2) comprises a hinge (6) to be used for attaching the storage unit (3) to the recess (4). Said hinge (6) connects one edge of the front face of the storage unit (3) with one edge of the recess (4) and the storage unit (3) is opened by using the hinge (6) as the pivoting axis.
In another embodiment of the present invention, said work top (2) comprises a lid (5) which covers the recess (4) and / or the storage unit (3). Said lid (5) has different forms and opening / closing mechanisms. In one embodiment of the invention, said lid (5) is attached to the work top (2) by means of a hinge (6).
In another embodiment of the invention, said lid (5) is opened by folding like an accordion.
In another embodiment of the invention, said lid (5) is opened by sliding the lid (5).
In another embodiment of the invention, said work top (2) comprises a handle (9) located on the storage unit (3) or on the lid (5).
In another embodiment of the invention, said work top (2) is provided with a cooking unit (13) on it.
In another embodiment of the invention, said work top (2) is provided with lids (5) used for loading the cleaning material to be employed in the household appliance (1).
By means of this storage unit (3) placed on the work top (2), said work top
(2) has gained a functionality, whereby the material used for the utilization of the haosehold appliance and stored at different places, can be stored by occupying less space and can be accessed more easily.

Claims

1. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) comprising at least one multipurpose storage unit (3) that provides the storage of the material required during the operation of said household appliance (1) without occupying a significant space, as well as an easy access to said material.
2. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 1, which comprises at least one recess (4) wherein the storage unit (3) is placed.
3. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 2, characterized with the recess (4) in the form of an opening on one lateral surface of the work top (2).
4. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 2, characterized with the recess (4) in the form of depressed zones formed on the upper surface of the work top (2).
5. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 1, wherein the upper surface of the work top (2) is coated with an anti-slip material and the substance put on said worktop are prevented from falling down by means of small differences of depth formed on its surface.
6. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 2, comprising grooves (11) located in the recess (4) and / or in the storage unit (3) and profiles (12) fitted into said grooves (11) to provide the movement of the storage unit (3) in the recess (4).
7. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 2, comprising rollers (8) and rails (7) located on the storage unit (3) which facilitate the movement of the storage unit (3) in the recess (4).
8. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 2, comprising a hinge (6) to be used for attaching the storage unit (3) to the recess (4) which connects one edge of the front face of the storage unit (3) with one edge of the recess (4), thereby enabling the storage unit (3) to be opened by using the hinge (6) as the pivoting axis.
9. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 4, comprising a lid (5) which covers the recess (4) and / or the storage unit (3).
10. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 9, characterized with the lid (5), the movement of which is provided by means of a hinge (6) attached to said worktop (2),
11. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 9, characterized with the lid (5) which is opened by folding like an accordion.
12. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 9, characterized with the lid (5) which is opened by sliding.
13. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 9, comprising a handle (9) located on the storage unit (3) or on the lid (5).
14. A worktop (2) for household appliances (1) as defined in Claim 9, comprising a cooking unit (13).
