- the hinge means usually used are ball-and-socket means which allow movements of the base in all directions relative to the ladder uprights. Even if this type of foot makes it possible to adapt the ladder on inclined ground, it has the disadvantage of leaving the user free to incline the ladder at high angles, including in a direction transversal to the scale. . Such a foot is difficult to use and presents a risk of misplacement, causing the sliding of the ladder, which can be dangerous for the user.
- the articulated feet commonly encountered are made of materials that do not ensure both the rigidity of the foot and a good grip of the foot on the surface on which the scale rests.
- the present invention is intended to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by providing a new articulated foot ensuring both a good grip of the scale on the ground, a good positioning of the base relative to the ground, and a good rigidity d together, while being simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
- an articulated foot of the kind in question is essentially characterized in that the connecting part is made of rigid plastic material, in that the base is at least partly made of flexible plastic material and in that that the hinge means comprises a cylinder integrally formed with the connecting portion and a housing formed in the base, the cylinder extending substantially parallel to the plane of the scale and being fitted into the housing.
- the articulated foot is made of only two materials, a rigid material with good mechanical strength and a flexible material for a good grip of the foot on the ground, while the base has a single degree of freedom compared at the party of link, which allows a secure positioning of the foot on the ground.
- a transverse inclination of the ladder is avoided.
- the joint is simple to perform since it has a minimum number of component parts.
- the base comprises a rigid plastic upper part and a lower part forming non-slip pad of flexible plastic material.
- the lower part of the base is reported by overmoulding on the upper part of said base.
- the base is made entirely of flexible plastic material.
- the manufacture of the articulated foot is therefore very simplified and the base can be adapted to connecting parts previously manufactured for several forms of ladder amounts.
- the base and the connecting portion comprise complementary means forming a stop to limit the relative rotation of the base of the connecting portion.
- the inclination of the ladder can not exceed a certain angle, which enhances the safety of the user.
- the connecting portion comprises at least one relief intended to cooperate with a complementary recess formed in the ladder amounts.
- the present invention also relates to a ladder comprising at least two uprights each provided with an articulated foot according to the above characteristics.
- the figure 1 represents the lower part of a scale 1 which has two longitudinal uprights 2, each equipped with an articulated foot 4 according to the present invention.
- Each articulated foot 4 has a connecting portion 10, a base 11 and articulation means 12.
- the connecting portion 10 is intended to be reported and immobilized in the corresponding amount 2.
- the base 11 forms a support piece of the foot 4 on the surface on which the scale 1 is intended to rest, this base being movable relative to the connecting portion 10.
- the articulation means 12 connect in rotation the connecting part 10 and the base 11.
- the connecting portion 10 has a head 15 and a body 16 both made of rigid plastic material such as for example polypropylene or polyamide. Of course, any other rigid plastic material in the cooled state is usable.
- the head 15 is of complementary shape to that of the cross section of the uprights 2 so that it can be nested therein.
- the body 16 has a flat rectangular upper face 17 from which the head 15 projects, and a lower face 18 facing the base 11.
- the lower face 18 has a crenellated profile, thus alternately defining 20, 21 and bumps 22, 23.
- the body 16 thus comprises two arms 25 and 26 which extend in the opposite direction and which each comprise a recess 20, 21 respectively, and a boss 22, 23 respectively.
- the recesses 20 and 21 are located near the ends of the two arms 25 and 26.
- the hinge means 10 comprise a cylinder 13 and a recess 37 described below.
- the cylinder 13 is integrally formed with the body 16 of the connecting portion 10, at the mid-length of this body, on the side of the lower face 18. It extends substantially parallel to the plane of the ladder. that is, transversely to the plane defined by the body 16 of the connecting portion 10.

- the cylinder 13 is located at the end of a leg 19 which extends from the lower face of the body 16, at the junction between the two arms 25 and 26.
- the cylinder 13 being integral with the connecting portion 10, it is also made of a rigid material such as polypropylene.
- the arms 25 and 26 are a kind of rocker around the cylinder 13. This cylinder acts as a rotational axis for the connecting portion 10 which can rotate only in one degree of freedom.
- the base 11 takes the form of a block whose width is substantially equal to the width of the connecting portion 10 and whose upper face 30 is opposite and cooperates with the lower face 18 of the body 16 of this part of 10.
- the upper face 30 has two recesses 32, 33 and two bumps 34, 35 of shape complementary to that of the bumps and troughs of the body 16, the bumps and troughs of the base being located respectively opposite hollow and bumps of said body.
- a cylindrical recess 37 whose diameter is substantially equal to that of the diameter of the cylinder 13 of the hinge means 12.
- This recess 37 opens at the same time on the lateral faces and on the upper face 30 of the The base 11 thus has on the upper face an opening 38 whose dimensions are smaller than the diameter of the cylinder 13.
- the cylinder 13 is fitted into the recess 37 and the leg 19 projects out of the opening 38 so that the lower face 18 of the body 16 cooperates with the upper face 30 of the base 11.
- the upper face 30 of the base 11 is inclined with respect to the lower face 31 so that even in the rest position ( figure 2 ) the body 16 forms a certain angle with the vertical.
- This angle is preferably of the order of 30 ° so that the scale is inclined relative to the ground by an angle ⁇ of about 70 °.
- the base 11 is in this first embodiment completely made of flexible plastic material. This material is chosen to obtain a good grip of the foot 4 on the surfaces on which the ladder is intended to rest. It may for example be terephthalate.

- the base 11 has a single degree of freedom relative to the connecting portion 10, which allows a safe positioning of the scale.
- the articulated foot according to the present invention gives a certain angle of inclination to the scale relative to the vertical. The angle variation around this rest position is limited so that the user can not position the ladder at high angles of inclination that would be dangerous.
- the manufacturing process of the foot 4 consists first of all in obtaining, by molding or injection, the connecting portion 10 provided with the cylinder 13, then obtaining the base 11 by molding or injection.
- the cylinder 13 is then hot-fitted in the recess 37 of the base 11 so that after cooling, it is impossible to extract the cylinder 13 out of the recess.

- the hinge foot 50 differs from the first embodiment only in that the base 51 is made of two different materials.
- This base then has an upper portion 52 made of rigid plastic identical to that of the connecting portion 10 and a lower portion 53 which is overmolded below of the upper part 52 and which is made of non-slip flexible material and which is intended to come into contact with the ground.
- the other component parts of the foot 50 are similar to that of the foot 4 previously described.
- hinge means 60 do not take the form of a cylinder rotatably mounted in a recess but take the form of a web 61 which connects the upper portion 52 of the base 51 to the lower face 18 of the body 16 of the connecting part 10.
- the upper surface of the base is inclined to form an angle with the horizontal plane.
- this upper face may be horizontal (that is to say parallel to the lower face of this base) so that in its rest position, the scale is vertical.
- the bumps and reliefs of the base and the body of the connecting portion are adapted to allow maximum pivoting of the scale by an angle of 35 ° on either side of the vertical.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an articulated foot intended to be attached to scale uprights.
Known articulated feet of the type comprising a connecting portion intended to be reported and immobilized in the amount of scale, a base forming a foot support foot on the surface on which is intended to rest the ladder, this base being movable relative to the connecting portion, and hinge means which rotatably connect the connecting portion and the base, to allow relative rotation of the base and the connecting portion in a single plane.
The hinge means usually used are ball-and-socket means which allow movements of the base in all directions relative to the ladder uprights.
In addition, the articulated feet commonly encountered are made of materials that do not ensure both the rigidity of the foot and a good grip of the foot on the surface on which the scale rests.
The present invention is intended to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by providing a new articulated foot ensuring both a good grip of the scale on the ground, a good positioning of the base relative to the ground, and a good rigidity d together, while being simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
For this purpose, according to the invention, an articulated foot of the kind in question is essentially characterized in that the connecting part is made of rigid plastic material, in that the base is at least partly made of flexible plastic material and in that that the hinge means comprises a cylinder integrally formed with the connecting portion and a housing formed in the base, the cylinder extending substantially parallel to the plane of the scale and being fitted into the housing.
Thanks to these provisions, the articulated foot is made of only two materials, a rigid material with good mechanical strength and a flexible material for a good grip of the foot on the ground, while the base has a single degree of freedom compared at the party of link, which allows a secure positioning of the foot on the ground. In addition, a transverse inclination of the ladder is avoided. In addition, the joint is simple to perform since it has a minimum number of component parts.
Preferably, the base comprises a rigid plastic upper part and a lower part forming non-slip pad of flexible plastic material.
More preferably, the lower part of the base is reported by overmoulding on the upper part of said base.
Still advantageously, the base is made entirely of flexible plastic material. The manufacture of the articulated foot is therefore very simplified and the base can be adapted to connecting parts previously manufactured for several forms of ladder amounts.
Advantageously, the base and the connecting portion comprise complementary means forming a stop to limit the relative rotation of the base of the connecting portion. The inclination of the ladder can not exceed a certain angle, which enhances the safety of the user.
To facilitate the placement of the foot in a ladder, the connecting portion comprises at least one relief intended to cooperate with a complementary recess formed in the ladder amounts.
The present invention also relates to a ladder comprising at least two uprights each provided with an articulated foot according to the above characteristics.
- réaliser ensemble à chaud la partie de liaison et le cylindre d'articulation en matière plastique rigide ;
- performing together hot the connecting portion and the hinge cylinder of rigid plastic material;
- hot make the base of flexible plastic material; and
- fit the cylinder in the base before cooling the base.

The
The

The
The articulated foot is therefore made only with two materials, a rigid material with high mechanical characteristics and a flexible material having a good non-slip coefficient. In addition, the
The manufacturing process of the

In the previous embodiments, the upper surface of the base is inclined to form an angle with the horizontal plane. In other embodiments, and without departing from the scope of the present invention, this upper face may be horizontal (that is to say parallel to the lower face of this base) so that in its rest position, the scale is vertical. The bumps and reliefs of the base and the body of the connecting portion are adapted to allow maximum pivoting of the scale by an angle of 35 ° on either side of the vertical.
The articulated foot according to the present invention has been associated with a ladder, it is understood that it can be used with any element that allows a user to reach a high point, such as a stepladder or a scaffold.
Of course, the articulated foot according to the present invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments described above by way of example, it embraces on the contrary all embodiments within the scope of the claims below.
