  • the advancing and retraction movement of the sealing portion 7 can be adjusted manually or automatically, thus making it possible to adjust both the radial pressure on the seal 18 and the depth of insertion of the sealing portion 7 into the laundry compartment, in order to vary for example its volume and internal surface.

  • Stop means can advantageously be provided to set the ends of the sliding travel of the door 5 and the movement of the sealing portion 7, these means including elastic locking or stop means, advantageously of the snap type, which hold the sealing portion 7 and/or the door 5 by snap-locking in specified positions.
  • the door 5 according to the invention also provides considerable improvements in the methods of washing and/or drying laundry by means of a washing machine, dryer or washer-dryer.

  • the door, and consequently the appliance to which it is fitted have smaller overall dimensions, regardless of the position of the door, and are therefore particularly suitable for domestic use.
  • the door according to the invention provides a sealing movement which is absolutely symmetrical with respect to the loading aperture, thus minimizing the compression and wear of the seals while increasing the watertightness of the sealing of the loading aperture.
  • the door according to the invention enables the internal space of a washing machine and/or dryer to be aerated in safe conditions while maintaining a more pleasing appearance.
  • the door according to the invention is also perfectly suited to the requirements for its use.
  • the sealing portion is advanced from the door to seal the loading aperture.
  • the said sealing portion is retracted so that it does not impede in any way the opening movement of the door. This advantageously enables sliding door closing systems to be used without auxiliary movements of the door towards or away from the loading aperture.
  • the door according to the invention is suitable both for use as a conventional door, in other words one hinged to the front panel of the appliance, and as a sliding door.
  • a washing machine with a sliding door according to the invention has numerous advantages.
  • Hot surfaces and those wetted by washing liquids are never exposed, but always face the appliance itself and are therefore practically inaccessible to the user and to others, for example children.
  • the door sliding mechanism is very simple, robust, and reliable, and can be actuated by automatic actuators, for example electric motors, controlled by a control unit in accordance with the set washing and/or drying programme.

Claims (18)

  1. Porte (5) d'une machine à laver et/ou d'un sèche-linge (1), comportant un cadre (6) avec des moyens de raccordement (11, 16) pour un raccordement mobile à une structure de support et de retenue (2) de ladite machine (1), et une partie d'étanchéité (7) destinée à interagir avec une ouverture de chargement (4) prévue dans ladite structure de support et de retenue (2), caractérisée en ce que la partie d'étanchéité (7) est reliée au cadre (6) de la porte (5) d'une manière telle que sa position par rapport à ladite ouverture (4) puisse être ajustée par rétraction et avance de la partie d'étanchéité (7) dans une direction sensiblement perpendiculaire au plan défini par ledit cadre (6).
  2. Porte (5) selon la revendication 1, comportant des moyens de came (8, 9) ou des moyens filetés (12, 13) ou des moyens de baïonnette destinés à former ledit raccordement pour l'ajustement de la partie d'étanchéité (7) par rétraction ou avance.
  3. Porte (5) selon la revendication 1 ou 2, dans laquelle le cadre (6) comporte au moins une ou plusieurs rampes (8) qui forment des surfaces inclinées par rapport à un plan défini par le cadre (6), en formant ainsi des moyens de support et de guidage pour une ou plusieurs cames (9) de la partie d'étanchéité (7) de façon à permettre un mouvement de la partie d'étanchéité (7) similaire à celui d'une vis.
  4. Porte (5) selon la revendication 2, dans laquelle le cadre (6) comporte des premiers moyens filetés (12), interagissant avec des deuxièmes moyens filetés (13) de la partie d'étanchéité (7) afin de permettre un mouvement de la partie d'étanchéité (7) similaire à celui d'une vis.
  5. Porte selon la revendication 1 ou 2, comportant une bague d'actionnement (14), associé au cadre (6) par des moyens de raccordement coulissants (15) et ayant des premiers moyens filetés (12) interagissant avec des deuxièmes moyens filetés (13) de la partie d'étanchéité (7) qui est empêchée de tourner, afin de permettre à la partie d'étanchéité (7) d'être ajustée en translation par la rotation de la bague d'actionnement (14).
  6. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle le cadre (6) a une ouverture sensiblement centrale et la partie d'étanchéité (7) se trouve dans ladite ouverture centrale.
  7. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle la partie d'étanchéité (7) a une zone transparente afin former une fenêtre d'inspection.
  8. Porte (5) selon la revendication 6, dans laquelle la partie d'étanchéité (7) est fabriquée dans une matière transparente, de préférence du verre ou une matière plastique.
  9. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle le cadre (6) a une forme globalement rectangulaire en vue de face.
  10. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, dans laquelle le cadre (6) a une forme globalement circulaire en vue de face.
  11. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle la partie d'étanchéité (7) a une forme globalement circulaire en vue de face.
  12. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle les moyens de raccordement pour le raccordement mobile de la porte (5) à la structure de support (2) comportent des moyens de charnière.
  13. Porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle les moyens de raccordement pour le raccordement mobile de la porte (5) à la structure de support (2) comportent des moyens coulissants (11, 16).
  14. Machine à laver (1) ou sèche-linge, comportant une structure de support et de retenue (2) pourvue d'une ouverture de chargement (4), caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte une porte (5) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes.
  15. Machine selon la revendication 14, comportant des moyens d'actionnement destinés à actionner l'ajustement de la position de la partie d'étanchéité (7) de la porte (5), quand la porte (5) est dans la position fermée, afin de procurer ledit mouvement d'étanchéité d'avance et ledit mouvement d'ouverture de rétraction de la partie d'étanchéité (7).
  16. Machine selon la revendication 15, dans laquelle lesdits moyens d'actionnement sont commandés par une unité de commande en fonction du programme de lavage et/ou de séchage.
  17. Procédé de lavage et/ou de séchage de linge au moyen d'une machine selon l'une des revendications 14 à 16, comportant les étapes suivantes :
    - insertion du linge devant être lavé et/ou être séché à travers l'ouverture de chargement (4) dans un compartiment de la machine à laver et/ou du sèche-linge (1) ;
    - recouvrement de l'ouverture de chargement (4) avec la porte (5) ;
    - avance de la partie d'étanchéité (7) de la porte (5) afin de procurer une fermeture étanche à l'eau de l'ouverture de chargement (4) ;
    - exécution d'un programme de lavage et/ou de séchage du linge,
    caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte une étape de rétraction de la partie d'étanchéité (7) de la porte (5) afin d'ouvrir l'ouverture de chargement (4) et d'aérer le linge, alors que la porte (5) reste fermée.
  18. Procédé selon la revendication 17, comportant l'étape d'ajustement de la position de la partie d'étanchéité (7) de la porte (5) afin de modifier le volume du compartiment de linge.
