Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for connecting and grounding components of a frame for a cabinet of an electrical switchboard.
  • cabinets for low- voltage electrical switchboards are produced by using a parallelepipedal frame inside which there is an adequate space suitable to accommodate the components of the switchboard, for example circuit breakers, bus bars, cable raceways, supporting guides; the frame furthermore constitutes a structural skeleton to which the elements for supporting said components are functionally anchored together with the cladding panels, the top, the base, the door of said cabinet, et cetera.
  • These frames are generally produced by means of a plurality of metallic components and in particular provide a lower end and an upper end, which are mutually connected by using vertical profiled elements or uprights.
  • the ends can be formed by multiple mutually connected parts; for example, according to a modular embodiment that is widely used in the art, each end is constituted by four corner elements, known in the art as multidirectional corner joints, which are mutually connected in pairs by virtue of profiled elements arranged substantially horizontally or cross-members.
  • a frame for an electrical switchboard cabinet is described for example in the European patent application no. 98201165.
  • the cabinet is therefore placed so that its lower end rests on a metallic footing, which is generally fixed to the floor; in this manner, in addition to obtaining a lower compartment for the accommodation and passage of the switchboard wiring cables, the contact between the metallic parts of the footing and those of the lower end, and more particularly between the footing and the corners joints, each of which has a suitable resting surface, allows to electrically connect to the ground the structure of the frame as well as the other electrically conducting parts of the cabinet that are operatively connected thereto.
  • known types of frame despite performing adequately the functions they are normally required to provide, have drawbacks and disadvantages.
  • the fact that the corner joints are made of metallic material, for example a metal alloy based on zinc and aluminum, despite allowing, by virtue of contact with the footing, to connect the frame electrically to the ground directly without using other components, has a significant effect on production costs; furthermore, the overall weight of the frame is also increased considerably, and this entails an increase in difficulties during assembly and installation of the cabinet.
  • the aim of the present invention is to provide a device for connecting and grounding components of a frame of a cabinet for an electrical switchboard that allows to obviate the above cited drawbacks and in particular allows to reduce production costs, reduce frame weights, and at the same time ensure optimum functional performance.

  • the device according to the invention thus allows to reduce significantly, with respect to the known art, the cost of corner joints and therefore of the entire frame, at the same time reducing the overall weight of the structure and ensuring in any case optimum functional performance and in particular the adequate grounding of said frame.
