Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a bag holder for hygiene and refuse bags, said bag holder comprising a rear side member to be suspended on a wall and detachably securing a first side of a bag adjacent the bag opening, as well as a front side member detachably securing a second side of the bag adjacent the bag opening, said second side opposing said first side of the bag, whereby the front side member and the rear side member each comprises one or more projections directed towards one another in an area below the bottom of the bag in the mounted state of said bag, the projection on the front side member being adapted to extend from a contact face abutting the adjacent free edge of the projection on the rear side member and over the projection on said rear side member, and whereby a biasing means is provided on the front side member on a level below the projection, said biasing means being a flat spring secured to the front side member and extending along the bottom side of the projection on the rear side member, and said flat spring being adapted to act on the front side member by co-operating with the rear side member in such a manner that said front side member is pressed towards the rear side member by being tilted about the free edge of the projection on said rear side member and further such that from the outside said front side member can be turned away from said rear side member.
- WO 99/20532 discloses a similar bag holder, which comprises a front side member shaped as an opaque closed screen completely covering the bag in question, and where the rear side member is a substantially plane surface abutting the wall on which the bag holder is secured. The biasing means retains the front side member on the rear side member by means of a member extending from the bottom side of the rear side member and upwards onto the back of said rear side member between said member and the wall.
- The object of the invention is to provide a bag holder, where the front side member can be removed from the rear side member in a relatively easy manner without requiring the use of any tool.
- The above object is obtained by the bag holder described in the introduction according to the invention being characterised in that the rear side member comprises a rib-shaped shoulder arranged on the bottom side of the projection, said shoulder extending parallel to the axis about which the tilting is carried out, and that said flat spring is adapted at a freely projecting end to releasably engage the rib-shaped shoulder by way of snap-action.
- According to the invention the rear side member may in a particularly simple manner comprise a bent bar of a circular cross section, which substantially forms a rectangle when seen from the front and which comprises opposing ends at the top when seen in the use position for retaining the bag, said bent bar at the bottom comprising a rectilinear, substantially horizontal portion forming the rib-shaped shoulder, and the rear side member may furthermore comprise a bent plate, one flange of which being adapted to abut a wall on the rear side of the rear side member, whereas a second flange of said bent plate extends across the horizontal portion of the bent bar and is secured thereto at a distance from the bending area as well as forms the projection on the rear side member. As a result, the rear side member is of an extremely simple structure, and accordingly the rib-shaped shoulder is provided in an extremely simple manner, said bent plate and said bent bar being made of suitable materials and being interconnected by way of welding.
- According to the invention the flange of the bent plate in use abutting a wall may be provided with stopping means for limiting the tilting movement of the front side member by co-acting with the projection of said front side member. As a result, an advantageous embodiment of the invention is obtained.
- Moreover, the projection on the rear side member may according to the invention comprise retainment means co-operating with the projection on the front side member and/or the flat spring in preventing the front side member from being displaced parallel to the axis about which the tilting is carried out. As a result, a very good retention of the front side member is ensured.
- According to the invention the stopping means may in a particularly simple manner be formed by means of one or more portions punched out of the bent plate.
- Furthermore, the retainment means may according to the invention be formed by means of one or more knobs secured to the bottom side of the bent plate and co-operating with their respective recesses in the flat spring, whereby the above prevention of the displacement is obtained in a simple manner as well.
- In addition, the flat spring may according to the invention advantageously be bent and comprise a flange abutting the contact face provided below the projection on the front side member and being secured to said contact face.
- According to the invention, the projection on the front side member may be provided by means of a separate bent metal plate with a downward flange forming at least a portion of the contact face of the front side member, and by means of which flange the bent plate together with the flat spring is secured to said front side member, whereby said front side member and the associated projection and flat spring can be manufactured in a simple manner.
- Finally, the flat spring may according to the invention furthermore be secured to the metal plate by means of a plurality of spot weldings in the area about the transition from the contact face to the projection, whereby the resilience of the flat spring can be adjusted in a simple manner in response to the number of spot weldings.
- The invention is explained in greater detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which
- Fig. 1 is a diagrammatic, vertically sectional view of a bag holder according to the invention, and
- Fig. 2 is a perspective view of members of the bag holder of Fig. 1, whereby the members have been separated for the sake of clarity.
- The bag holder shown in Fig. 1 comprises a rear side member designated the general reference numeral 1, and a front side member hingedly connected to said rear side member and designated the general reference numeral 2. The rear side member 1 comprises a bent round bar 3, cf. in particular Fig. 2, which is of a substantially rectangular shape and is symmetrically bent about a vertical plane. At the top, the bar comprises two ends 4 and 5 directed towards each other and which are adapted to grip into a channel from their respective sides, said channel being provided at the top of a conventionally known bag (not shown) for receiving refuse. At the bottom when seen in the ordinary use position of the rear side member 1, a perpendicularly bent metal plate 30 is secured to the horizontally extending portion 6 of the bar 3 by way of welding. This plate comprises a vertical flange 8 adapted to abut a wall 9 and to be secured thereto by means of suitable fastening means 10 and 11, cf. Fig. 1. The round bar 3 is secured to the perpendicularly bent metal plate 30 at a distance from and parallel to the bending area. At the top, the round bar 3 comprises a fastening means 12 and 13 on each side, said fastening means 12 and 13 being made of a suitable rubber material and being used at the securing to a wall. In the mounted state, the round bar 3 extends substantially parallel to the wall 9 at a distance therefrom.
- The flange 30 being horizontal in the mounted state of the metal plate 30 forms a projection which co-operates with a corresponding projection 14 on the front side member 1. This latter projection 13 is formed by a perpendicularly and outwardly bent flange on a metal plate 15. This metal plate 15 is of a substantially Z-shaped cross section, the flange 16 opposite the flange 14 inclining downwards when the projection-forming flange 14 is in the horizontal position. The Z-shaped metal plate 15 and a flat spring 17 are together secured to the remaining portion 18 of the front side member 2. This portion 18 forms a shield which is opaque and covers the bag in question completely. This shield 18 is preferably made of a suitable plastic material and carries a pin 19 at the top for the securing of the side of the bag opening positioned opposite the above side with a channel (not shown).
- The metal plate 15 and the flat spring 17 are secured by means of fastening means 20 on the shield 18. In the closed state of the bag holder, the metal plate 15 is adapted to abut the upper face of the projection 30 on the rear side member 1, the free edge 21 of the projection 30 on the rear side member 1 abutting a contact face 22 on the metal plate 15. This contact face 22 on the metal plate 15 is placed on the bottom side of the projection 14 on the front side member 2. The flat spring 17 is shaped and mounted in such a manner that it allows the above receiving of the projection 30 on the rear side member 1 below the projection 14 on the front side member 1. The flat spring 17 comprises a downwardly projecting flange 23 which continues into a plate portion 24 which in the unloaded state extends parallel to the projection through a substantially perpendicular bend. As shown in Fig. 1, this plate portion 24 continues into a downwardly curving plate portion 25 which is adapted to grip about the horizontal portion 6 of the round bar 3. A web 26 extends obliquely downwards from the downwardly curving plate portion 24 in a direction away from the projection 14 and the contact face 22. When the front side member 2 slides over the rear side member 2 by being moved from the right to the left of Fig. 1, this web 26 is adapted to co-operate with the horizontal portion 6 of the round bar 3 in such a manner that the flat spring 17 yields and is able to grip about the horizontal portion 6 so as to engage said portion by way of snap-action. The shape of the flat spring 17 implies furthermore that the front side member 2 can be removed from the rear side member 1 again by being moved in the opposite direction.
- The flat spring 17 comprises also a slot or a recess 27 extending from the free end of the web 26 and a distance into the plate portion 24 so as to end adjacent the bend at the contact face 22. This recess 27 is adapted to receive a knob 28 secured to the bottom side of the projection 30 on the rear side member 1. This knob is preferably secured by way of welding. As a result, the front side member 2 is fixed or retained against a displacement parallel to the free edge 21 of the projection 30.
- A stopping means 31 is shaped on the vertical flange 8 of the metal plate 7 by way of a suitable punching, said stopping means 31 being adapted to co-operate with the free end 32 of the projection 14 on the front side member 2. In this manner the possibility of the front side member 2 tilting clockwise relative to Fig. 1 is limited. Thus the stopping means 31 is arranged such that the front side member 2 can be opened to such an extent that the bag in question can easily be removed from or mounted in the bag holder.
- The flat spring 17 is shaped such that it subjects the front side member 2 to a counterclockwise biasing into a closed position in which the opening of the bag is closed. The flat spring 17 must, of course, also ensure that the closing automatically follows a clockwise turning of the front side member 2 when seen relative to Fig. 1, until said front side member 2 abuts the stopping means 31.
- The correct functioning of the flat spring 17 can be ensured by choosing a suitable flat spring and by securing said flat spring to the metal plate 15 by means of spot weldings 33, 34 and 35 at suitable locations in the area surrounding the bend.
- The invention has been described with reference to a preferred embodiment. Many modifications can be carried out without thereby deviating from the scope of the invention. The knob 28 can for instance be replaced by recesses in the projection 30 in such a manner that these recesses co-operate with the ends of the flat spring 17. Instead of a coherent flat spring, it is, of course, also possible to use several flat springs. Furthermore, the rear side member can be manufactured in another way than the one described provided a shoulder is included, said shoulder corresponding to the horizontal portion 6 of the round bar 3 and being able to co-operate with the flat spring 17 in such a manner that the front side member 2 can be easily mounted and removed again.
