Description

The invention relates to a cartridge with a combustible propellant charge sleeve and an electrothermal ignition device, wherein the propellant charge sleeve is connected to a sleeve made of metal sleeve bottom, on the front side a sealing lip is fixed, according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.

In these known cartridges, the ignition of the propellant charge powder takes place by the formation of arc discharges in the interior of the propellant charge powder. For this purpose, located within the propellant charge powder of each cartridge at least one wire-shaped conductor, which is traversed by the ignition of the powder of such a high current that the corresponding wire evaporates explosively. The forming in this process arc then ignites the surrounding propellant charge powder.

Such a cartridge is for example from the DE-A-199 36 649 known, wherein a well-insulated electrical contact piece is guided by the existing metal sleeve base, which protrudes substantially on the outside of the bottom piece of the sleeve bottom and can be contacted by a gun-side high voltage electrode. Within the sleeve bottom, the contact piece is laterally supported by a relatively solid Isolierformteil and is connected to a contact disc to which a plurality of guided by the propellant powder wire-shaped conductor are attached.

A disadvantage of this known cartridge, among other things, that an automatic operation of the corresponding weapons system, in particular with wedge closures, can not be realized by the externally protruding contact piece. In addition, the massively trained to support the contact piece Isolierformteil takes a lot of space inside the cartridge, which precludes the requirement for a high charging density of the propellant charge powder. Finally, in the case of cartridges with combustible Propellant charge sleeve usually applied to the sleeve bottom sealing lip (see, eg EP-A-1 092 939 ) are vulcanized on the sleeve bottom in a separate process step.

From the WO-A-96 29565 For example, a cartridge having an electrothermal ignition device is known which comprises a non-combustible metal propellant sleeve and a metal sleeve base connected to the propellant sleeve. In this case, a sleeve bottom-shaped formed insulator is arranged in the sleeve bottom inside, which rests positively on the inside of the sleeve bottom and protrudes into a guided through the bottom piece of the sleeve bottom recess. The insulator is annular in the region of the recess and is supported on the outside of the inner wall of the recess and encloses a likewise projecting from the inside of the sleeve bottom into the recess of the bottom piece electrical contact piece, which is electrically contacted by the outside of the sleeve bottom of a high voltage electrode ,

Starting from the DE-A-199 36 649 The invention has for its object to provide an easy to manufacture cartridge that allows automatic operation of weapons systems, as it is possible even when using conventional cartridges substantially.

This object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Further, particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention disclose the dependent claims.

The invention is based essentially on the idea - similar to the case mentioned above WO-A-96 29565 - Design the contact piece such that it does not project beyond the front surface of the bottom piece on the outside and that it forms the inside of the contact disc, which is supported over a sleeve bottom-shaped insulator relatively small wall thickness over a large area of the propellant charge shell, so that a corresponding massive insulator molding can be omitted. In addition, the sealing lip of the sleeve bottom is integrally connected to the insulator, so that the vulcanization of the insulating layer in this case at the same time the connection (adhesion) to the sleeve bottom and contact disc can be produced.

As has been shown, this method is outstandingly suitable for mass production of cartridges according to the invention.

The cartridge according to the invention, in which therefore the insulation of the high-voltage parts are fully integrated into the sleeve bottom, is particularly suitable for modern armored cannons with wedge closure.

While with the cartridge, as in the DE-A-199 36 649 is disclosed, to support the electrode and the insulator under gas pressure (ie at firing) also parts of the closure of the weapon system are required in the cartridge of the invention, the support of the electrode and the insulator completely over the sleeve bottom of the cartridge.

It has proven to be advantageous if the contact disk is formed at its outer edge of the sealing lip, so that it is avoided when shooting that powder gases get between the insulator and the contact disk.

To attach the contact disc it can be glued to the insulator and this with the sleeve bottom.

  • Fig.1 den Längsschnitt eines hülsenbodenseitigen Bereiches einer erfindungsgemäßen Patrone;
Further details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following with reference to figures explained embodiments. Show it:
  • 1 shows the longitudinal section of a sleeve bottom side region of a cartridge according to the invention;
  • Figures 2 and 3, the arrangement of the cartridge shown in Figure 1 in a weapon with wedge closure before and after contacting the electrical contact of the cartridge.

In Fig. 1, denoted by 1 is a large caliber cartridge (e.g., for firing from an armored weapon) comprising a combustible propellant charge case 2 and a steel sleeve base 3 having a sealing lip 3 'attached to the front thereof.

The cartridge 1 is provided with an electrothermal ignition device 4. This consists essentially of an electrical contact piece 5, which on the one hand projects into a recess 6 of the bottom piece 7 of the sleeve bottom 3 and on the other hand connected to a large, over the entire inner side 8 of the bottom piece 7 extending contact disc 9. The contact disk 9 has a sealing lip 10 at its outer edge. In addition, one end 11 of two serving to ignite arcs 12 are attached to the contact disc 9 in each case. The respective other end 13 of the two wires 12 is attached to a contact ring 14 of the propellant charge case 2.

Außerdem umschließt der ringförmige Bereich 15' des Isolators 15 das in die Ausnehmung 6 ragende Kontaktstück 5.The contact disc 9 and the sleeve bottom 3 are electrically isolated from each other by a sleeve bottom-shaped high-voltage resistant insulator 15. This forms within the recess 6 of the bottom piece 7 an annular portion 15 'and is supported on the outside of the inner wall 16 of the recess 6 from. In addition, the annular region 15 'of the insulator 15 encloses the contact piece 5 projecting into the recess 6.

As can be seen from FIG. 1, both the outside end 25 of the contact piece 5 and the outside end 26 of the annular area 15 'of the insulator 15 are located slightly opposite the outside surface 27 of the bottom piece 7 in the recess 6.

Diese ist über eine Zuleitung 23 mit einer nicht dargestellten Stromquelle verbunden.2 and 3, the closure-side region of a tank gun 17 is shown with a charged cartridge 1. In this case, 18 is a gun barrel and 19 denotes a bottom piece in which a wedge lock with closure wedge 20 is located. In the closure wedge 20 is a surrounding of an insulation 21, axially displaceably arranged high-voltage electrode 22. This is connected via a supply line 23 to a power source, not shown.

After closing the closure wedge 20 (Figure 2), the high voltage electrode 22 is automatically shifted in the direction of the contact piece 5 of the cartridge 1 and the front side in a recess 24 of the contact piece 5 pressed (Figure 3). At the same time presses the insulation 21 of the high voltage electrode 22 on the annular portion 15 'of the insulator 15 of the cartridge 1, so that the electrical connection between the high voltage electrode 22 and the contact piece 5 is completely isolated.

The invention is of course not limited to the illustrated embodiment. For example, both the outside end of the contact piece and the outside end of the annular portion of the insulator can be flush with the outside surface of the bottom piece.

It has proven particularly advantageous if the sealing lip 3 'of the sleeve base 3 is integrally connected to the insulator 15. This can be achieved in a simple manner that with the vulcanization of the sealing lip 3 'and thus also of the insulator 15 at the same time a connection (adhesion) to the sleeve bottom 3 and the contact disc 9 is made.
