Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel injector according to the preamble of the main claim.
- a fuel injector which has a valve closing body which forms a sealing seat with a valve seat body. Upstream of the sealing seat, a swirl element is arranged on the valve seat body in the fuel inlet. The swirl element is disc-shaped.
- the valve closing body which is formed in one piece with a valve needle, is passed through its center. Channels are excluded from the disk-shaped swirl element in a radially spiral manner and are covered on the side facing away from the valve seat body by a guide element for the valve needle. Radially outward, the end regions of the channels are released from the guide element with respect to a fuel chamber which surrounds the valve needle.
- a fuel injector which has a first valve needle and a second valve needle.
- the second valve needle is designed as a hollow needle which coaxially surrounds the first valve needle. Both valve needles are separated by a sleeve arranged between the first valve needle and the second valve needle. Via the first valve needle and a first sealing seat formed by the latter with a first valve seat surface, a first circle of holes is closed from spray openings. Via the hollow needle and a second sealing seat formed by the latter with a second valve seat surface, a second bolt circle is closed from spray openings. The flow rate of the fuel can be controlled by operating the valve needles separately.
- a disadvantage of this prior art is that a plurality of spray openings which are to be produced exactly are required. A fine atomization of the fuel by a swirl is also not possible.
- the fuel injector according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that a control of the flow and thus also the injection quantity of the fuel is possible with only one spray orifice and at the same time a favorable formation of the fuel jet is achieved by swirling. Together with the regulation of the flow, the jet angle can also can be varied depending on the operating point. In particular, the switching times and reaction times of the fuel injector are not adversely affected, since the second valve needle can be actuated during the time in which the fuel injector is closed. When the first valve needle is lifted out of its sealing seat and the fuel injection valve opens, fuel is supplied, depending on whether the second valve needle opens or covers the control inlet openings of the control swirl channels, unthrottled or throttled. Through different designs of the covered and the free swirl channels, the jet angle of the valve can be changed during operation.
- the second valve needle is advantageously designed as a hollow needle and coaxially surrounds the first valve needle.
- the construction volume is advantageously kept small and the fuel injector is advantageously designed symmetrically about a central axis for production.
- the second valve needle advantageously has at least one flat valve body section which interacts with a valve seat surface of the swirl element to form a flat sealing seat.
- Guide sections of the second valve needle favorably engage in the control inlet openings of the control swirl channels.
- the control swirl ducts advantageously have opening angles into a swirl chamber that deviate from the swirl ducts.
- swirl channels and control swirl channels can be designed such that, if only the swirl channels are released, a different jet angle is formed than if swirl channels and control swirl channels interact and form a total jet angle from both designs.
- the second valve needle can advantageously be pushed by an actuator against the pressure of a spring onto the control inlet openings of the control swirl channels.
- the actuator can be designed to be less powerful and therefore small in size.
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic section through an embodiment of a fuel injector according to the invention
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic section through an exemplary embodiment of a fuel injection valve 1 according to the invention.
- the lower section of a fuel injection valve 1 is shown, which faces a combustion chamber (not shown here) of an internal combustion engine.
- the fuel injector 1 consists of a valve body 2, in which a first valve needle 3 is arranged.
- the first valve needle 3 is formed in one piece with a first valve closing body 4, which cooperates with a first valve seat surface 5 on a valve seat body 6 to form a sealing seat 7.
- the valve seat body 6 has at least one spray opening 8.
- a first magnet coil 11 is wound on a magnet coil carrier 9, connected to the valve body 2 via a weld seam 10, and enveloped by a first outer pole 12.
- An inner pole 13 is welded to the magnet coil support 9 by a weld seam 14.
- the first valve needle 3 is loaded via a first armature 15, which is non-positively connected to the first valve needle 3 via a weld 16, with the biasing force of a first spring 17, which presses the first valve closing body 4 into the sealing seat 7 via the first valve needle 3 ' ,
- the first armature 15 has at least one passage bore 18 for the fuel, which flows from a fuel inlet 19 to the sealing seat 7.
- a second valve needle 20 is designed as a hollow needle 21, which coaxially surrounds the first valve needle 3.
- the hollow needle 21 is connected via a weld seam 22 to a second armature 23, which is biased by a second spring 24 against a flange 25.
- a second magnet coil 26 is associated with the second armature 23 and is wound on the magnet coil carrier 9.
- the second solenoid 26 is surrounded by a second outer pole 27.
- the second armature 23 has passage bores 27a for the fuel.
- a swirl element 28 is arranged on the valve seat body 6 in the feed path of the fuel.
- the swirl element 28 has control inlet openings 29 through which the fuel can reach control swirl channels 30. Guide sections 31 of the hollow needle 21 engage in the control inlet openings 29.
- the hollow sections 21 are secured against twisting by the guide sections 31.
- the hollow needle 21 is formed in the areas of a control inlet opening 29 as a flat valve body section 32. This area of a fuel injection valve 1 according to the invention is to be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, which show sectional planes along the lines II-II and III-III in FIG. 1.
- FIG. 2 shows a top view of the sectional plane II in FIG. 1.
- the sectional plane lies at the level of the upper edge of the swirl element 28 and shows in the middle the first valve needle 3 shown in section and two inlet openings 33 to swirl channels not visible in this sectional plane.
- the swirl element 28 is surrounded by the valve body 2.
- the flat valve body sections 32 cover the control inlet openings 29, which are illustrated by a dashed line, to the control swirl channels 30 which are not visible in this sectional plane.
- FIG. 3 shows a top view of the sectional plane III in FIG. 1, which corresponds to a section through the swirl element 28 at the level of the control swirl channels 30.
- swirl channels 34 are provided, which the hollow needle 21 cannot seal against the fuel inlet 19.
- the inlet openings 33 are arranged between the valve body 2 and the swirl channels 34.
- control inlet openings 29 are connected to the control swirl channels 30.
- Both the control swirl channels 30 and the swirl channels 34 open tangentially at an angle into an annular swirl chamber 35 through which the valve needle 3 and the valve closing body 4 are guided.
- the swirl channels 34 open into the swirl chamber 35 at an angle smaller than the tangent than the control swirl channels 30.
- angles of swirl and control swirl channels can also be reversed.
- the hollow needle 21 is actuated by the second solenoid coil 26, the fuel, when the valve needle 3 is lifted out of the sealing seat 7, cannot via the control swirl channels 30, but only via the swirl channels 34 Spray opening 8 close. Due to the smaller total cross-section, the flow of the fuel is throttled and the injection quantity is reduced. Due to the strong rotation in the swirl chamber 35 due to the opening angle of the swirl channels 34, a large jet angle is formed in the embodiment described. If the control swirl channels 30 are also released, a large amount of fuel can flow to the spray opening 8. A smaller opening angle of the control swirl channels 30 results in less rotation overall, which leads to a smaller jet angle.
- the hollow needle 21 can be preset during the closing time of the fuel injector 1 and thus has no influence on the opening behavior of the fuel injector 1.
- the hollow needle 21 only has to close the control inlet openings 29 largely tightly, since the sealing seat 7 closes the spray opening 8 as a whole from the fuel inlet 19. For the same reason, the hollow needle 21 does not have to work against the fuel pressure.
- the second solenoid 26 can therefore be designed to be weaker.
