Abstract
The invention concerns combined food for special nutrition, consisting in cane molasses of suitable quality, supplemented with 0,1 - 50 % of β-glucan, calculated as a dry mass, and possibly with other health beneficial substances so that their concentrations may reach corresponding defined daily doses.
Description
FOOD COMPRISING CANE MOLASSE AND BETA-GLUCAN
Field of the Invention
The invention concerns food for special nutrition on the basis of cane molasses, combined with other health beneficial components.
Description of the Related Art
Cane molasses, sometimes termed also black molasses, is known due to its beneficial effects on human health when used for long time. Its components, e.g., unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins (in particular B series), amino acids, enzymes, glucose and fructose, mineral compounds and others, by their balanced composition influence favorably metabolic processes, improve status of articular disorders, prevent cancer, heart and vessel diseases, as well as different infectious ones. These facts were many times confirmed by renowned home and foreign medical establishments (Felix R. Paturi: Naturlich'gesund mit Schwarzer Melasse, Sύdwest Verlag GmbH, Mύnch'en," ' 1998; Cyril Scott: Black Miracle, Vita Reform-Verlag, Dulliken, 4th edition, 2000). Full effect of cane molasses is manifested, however, after rather long period of regular administration, which in - some cases, can represent certain-negative moment. Last but.not least, not all components of the cane molasses are. present in a sufficient amount. Therefore, there is possible to supplement the . molasses with certain substances to accelerate and intensify its effect.
A suitable enhancement of health beneficial qualities of the cane molasses can be done by addition of branched polysaccharide β(l->3),β(l-»6)-D-glukan (hereinafter called "β-glucan") obtained from different biological sources, best from yeasts. β-Glucan is known for long time as an immunomodulator (DiLuzio N.R., Immunopharmacology of glucan: A broad spectrum enhancer of host defense mechanisms, Trends Pharmacol. Sci. 4: 344-347 (1983); Chihara G. et al. , Current status and perspectives of immunomodulators of microbial origin, Int. J. Tis. Reac. IV: 207-225 (1982)) stimulating especially the macrophages (DiLuzio N. R., Immunopharmacology of glucan: A broad spectrum enhancer of host defense mechanisms. Trends Pharmacol. Set. 4, 344-347 (1983); Quinn P.J., Mechanisms of action of some immunomodulators used in veterinary medicine. Adv. Vet. Sci. Compar. Med. 35: 43-99 (1990)) that play primary and cnicial role at initiation and continuation of the course of non-specific immune response. As a consequence, β-glucan acts as anti-infection and anti-tumor agent, improves regeneration of tissues and healing of wounds, and besides of that it is able to scavenge free radicals, inducing tumor proliferation, to decrease blood cholesterol and to protect against
radiation. Unlike cane molasses, effects of β-glucan develop in relatively short time and by this way complements long-term effect of the molasses.
Besides β-glucan other substances can be added to the cane molasses, e.g., vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc., in amounts approaching or be equal to the recommended daily doses.
Summary of the Invention
Before-mentioned drawbacks are removed and better health beneficial effects are shown by the combined food for special nutrition on the basis of cane molasses according to the invention, gist of which lies in a mixture containing 50 - 99.99 % (w/w) of cane molasses and 0.01 - 50 % (w/w) of β-glucan. To mixture 0.01 - 1 % (w/w) of vitamins and 0.1 - 1 % (w/w) of amino acids can be advantageously added.
Advantage of the combined food according to the invention consists principally in possibility of isolation of its component from different natural sources. Content of β-glucan in the combined food enables stimulation of cells of the reticulo-endothelial system, in particular the macrophages, that play primary and crucial role at initiation and continuation of the course of non-specific immune response. β-Glucan thus acts as anti-infection and anti-tumor agent, improves regeneration of tissues and healing of wounds, and besides of that it is able to scavenge free radicals, inducing tumor proliferation, to decrease blood cholesterol and to protect against radiation. β-Glucan is isolated from cell walls of Saccharomyces cerevisiae - baker's yeasts, therefore from an alimentary product, what guarantees its harmlessness. Combination of β-glucan and cane molasses shows desired health beneficial effects.
Examples of Realization of the Invention
E x a m p l e 1
Cane molasses is mixed with 20 % (w/w, related to the original molasses and the dry mass of β-glucan) of β-glucan, dry or in the form of paste with known content of the active substance, perfectly homogenized and filled into distribution containers.
E x a m p l e 2
A mixture of cane molasses and β-glucan, prepared according to the Example 1, in which analytical determination of content of thiamin (vitamin Bi) was performed, is supplemented by this vitamin (in the form of thiamin hydrochloride) so that its content in the mixture may be 0,25 % (w/w), perfectly homogenized and filled into distribution containers.
E x a m p l e 3
A mixture of cane molasses and β-glucan, prepared according to the Example 1 and containing 27 % (w/w) of β-glucan is supplemented by such an amount of amino acid D-leucine so that its total content in the mixture may be 0,5 % (w/w), perfectly homogenized and filled into distribution containers.
