Description

The invention relates to a chair, in particular an office chair.

Chairs with headrests have been known for a long time. The headrests generally have the disadvantage that the height adjustment is usually complicated via locking mechanisms. A tilt adjustment is usually not possible.

From the US 5,213,395 goes out a chair, which has a both in height and in terms of inclination adjustable in stages headrest, both adjustment mechanisms are arranged side by side.

The invention has for its object to offer a chair in which the headrest is constructed in terms of height as well as in terms of inclination infinitely adjustable and compact.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1 in conjunction with the features of the preamble.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims.

A chair 1 shown in FIG. 1, in particular an office chair, has a base frame 2 which is supported by rollers 3 with respect to the floor. On the pedestal 2, a height-adjustable chair column 4 is attached to the upper end of a seat support 5 is releasably attached, on which in turn a padded seat 6 is mounted. At the rear end of the seat support 5, a substantially upwardly extending backrest support 7 is attached to which a padded backrest 8 is attached. At the upper end of the backrest support 7, a headrest support 9 is attached, to which a headrest 10 is attached.

In the following, the construction of the headrest 10 will be described in more detail with reference to Figs. The backrest support 7 has two substantially vertically and parallel to each other, up to the upper end of the backrest 8 extending spars 11, which merge at its upper end respectively in a headrest support bracket 12. The bracket 12 go at its upper end continuously in a tapered in diameter, horizontally extending shaft-mounting press bearing 13 via. The free ends 14 of the bearings 13 face each other. The headrest 10 is supported against the brackets 12 and connected thereto.

The headrest 10 has a frame 15 which is formed by two mutually parallel pairs of rails 16 and two transverse bars 17 connecting them. The rails 16 are, as can be seen in Figure 5, curved and made for example of spring steel sheet. The rails 16 of a pair of rails run parallel to each other. The transverse bars 17 each have the shape of an elongated cuboid which protrudes beyond the connecting points 18 with the rails 16 end. A shaft 19 is passed between the two pairs of rails 16 and has at its two ends pins 20 which are fixed in corresponding recesses 21 of the bearing 13 with a press fit. The shaft 19 is thus fixed substantially rotationally fixed relative to the bearings 13. The frame 15 is connected to the shaft 19 via two pairs of friction-guiding shoes 22. The shoes 22 each have a bore 23 centrally through which the shaft 19 is guided. The shoes 22 have on facing sides in each case two grooves 24 whose depth is slightly smaller than half the width of the rails 16. In each case two shoes 22 are connected by two screws 25 together to form a pair 26. The total of four grooves 24 of a pair 26 enclose - forming two channels - the two rails 26. The screws 25, the friction between the shoes 22 and the rails 16 is adjustable. The pairs 26 are slidable on the rails 16 against a counterforce and form a height adjustment device for the headrest 10. The friction between the rails 16 and the two pairs 26 is adjusted so that the headrest 10 with respect to the outwardly supported shaft 19 stationary without external force in any preset position.

The shoes 22 have on their inner end faces 27 in the region of the bore 23 a conical widening 28 of the bore 23. Between the shaft 19 on the one hand and the two shoes 22 of a pair 26 on the other hand, this results in an annular chamber in which a rubber ring 29 is fixed. Due to the conical surfaces of the chamber in the region of the extension 28 of the rubber ring 29 is pressed when screwing two shoes 22 to the shaft 19, whereby a predeterminable Frictional force between the shaft 19 and the frame 15 is adjustable. Since the shaft 19 is secured against rotation relative to the bearing 13, the headrest 10 can be pivoted against the shaft 19 only against a force. Without external force the headrest 10 remains in each preset inclination position with an inclination angle a relative to the vertical. The shaft 19 forms so far together with the shoes 22 a tilt adjustment for adjusting the inclination angle a of the headrest 10th

The frame 15 is clad by a multi-part, for example made of wood panel. On the top of the upper cross member 17 and the underside of the lower cross member 17, two semi-cylindrical profiles 30 are attached. At the front and back, a curved cover plate 31 is attached in each case. The cover plates 31 have along the swept by the shoes 22 in the height adjustment area rectangular recesses 32 in the parts of the shoes 22 protrude. In this way, the most compact possible design of the headrest 10 is possible because the total thickness K of the panel of the headrest 10 is only slightly larger than the thickness S of the shoes 22. At the end faces of the frame 15, two curved end plates 33 are secured with curved slots 34 , wherein the shaft 19 is displaced in the slot 34. The illustrated in Figure 2 only with the panel headrest 10 is finally, as shown in Figure 1, for example, covered with leather or fabric.

The following describes the operation of the headrest closer. In order to change the height of the headrest 10, the user of the chair 1 exerts a force on them from above or from below. If the force is large enough to overcome a given friction force, then the Rails 16 are displaced in the grooves 24 of the shoes 22, whereby the height of the headrest 10 changes. By acting between the rails 16 and the shoes 22 friction headrest 10 is stable in the newly set end position and does not slip back down. If the inclination angle a of the headrest is to be adjusted, then the user pivots the headrest about the shaft 19. Since the pins 20 are fastened rotationally fixed in the bearing 13, the shoes 22 are pivoted relative to the shaft 19. Due to the existing between the wall of the bore 23 and the shaft 19 friction and the set by the rubber ring 29 between the shoes 22 and the shaft 19 friction, a minimum torque is required for pivoting the headrest 10 to the shaft 19. If this is exceeded, a pivoting of the headrest 10 takes place. If no external torque is exerted on the headrest 10, it remains stationary in the set end position.

Due to the curvature of the headrest 10 to the rear, this adapts to the contour of the back of the head and neck of a leaning backwards man. It is particularly advantageous that the inclination angle a of the headrest 10 can adjust automatically when back-to-back. The height adjustability of the headrest ensures that the upper part of the neck of a user is approximately at the height of the shaft 19 and the pivotability of the headrest 10 substantially corresponds to that of the human genius. As a result, the headrest 10 is perceived as particularly comfortable. It is particularly advantageous that the height of the headrest 10 and its inclination angle can be adjusted simultaneously and continuously. In addition, it is possible to use a convex or concave head contact surface by means of a headrest 10 which can be rotated by more than 360 ° for the head of the user. When in the figures 1 and 2 illustrated position of the headrest 10 is the head contact surface seen from the head concave. By a rotation through 180 ° about the shaft 19, the opposite head contact surface can be used.
