Definitions

  • the present invention concerns a flexible container for bulk products, consisting of a bag made of an electrically conductive tissue, consisting of a number of pieces which are sewn together by means of thread, and of fastening means fixed to the top part of the bag.
  • the container Due to the friction of the bulk product during the filling or emptying, the container can be electrostatically loaded, which might result in sparks which consequently entail a risk of explosion of the bulk material.
  • the sac is made of an electrically conductive tissue.
  • the tissue must be very sturdy to prevent it from being torn and so as to make it possible to re-use the container several times.
  • a flexible container with a bag made of a conductive tissue is described in European patent No. 0.413.886.
  • the tissue of the bag is formed of non-conductive threads on the one hand, and of threads made of a polyolefin on the other hand containing carbon black and/or graphite, incorporated in the tissue in the warp as well as in the weft thread.
  • the electric resistance of the tissue still remains considerably high, and a fast dissipation of the electrostatic charges is not guaranteed.
  • German patent application No. 42 11 711 is described a conductive tissue for flexible containers which is formed of non-conductive strips and of conductive strips incorporated in the warp as well as in the weft. Such a tissue makes it possible to obtain a better conductivity, but the latter still remains limited. The electric resistance does not drop below 10 -8 and the risk of sparks remains.
  • the invention aims to remedy these disadvantages by providing a flexible container which is sturdy but which has an excellent conductivity and dissipation of electrostatic charges, resulting in more safety.
  • a flexible container for bulk products consisting of a bag made of an electrically conductive tissue, formed of non-conductive threads or non-conductive strips on the one hand, and of conductive strips made of a polyolefin comprising an electrically conductive material, in particular carbon black and/or graphite, incorporated in the tissue in the weft as well as in the warp on the other hand, whereby this bag comprises a number of pieces of tissue which are sewn together by means of thread, as well as fastening means fixed to the top part of the bag, and which is characterised in that the conductive strips made of a polyolefin comprising a conductive material are multi-layered strips.
  • the conductivity of the multi-layered strips is significantly higher than that of single-layered strips.
  • the conductive strips in the tissue preferably form squares whose sides have a length between 2.5 and 3.5 cm and preferably of some 3 cm.
  • parts of the bag are electrically connected between them by means of multi-layered conductive strips.
  • the bag may comprise a body, a bottom part and a cover part, whereby at least these bottom parts and cover parts are connected to the body by means of said conductive strips.
  • the parts of the bag which are sewn together are preferably sewn by means of a conductive thread, in particular a multi-stranded or multifilament thread comprising at least one conductive filament, for example made of metal.
  • multifilament reinforcement strips are sewn on the bag, preferably extending from underneath the fixing point of each fastening means up to the bottom of the bag.
  • the flexible container for bulk products represented in the drawings mainly comprises a bag 1 made of a conductive tissue and four ears or carrying straps 2 to pick up or carry the bag 1.
  • Figure 1 represents the container when it is full and placed on a palette.
  • the tissue 1 is woven of non-conductive, single-layered or multi-layered strips 3, made of a polyolefin, for example polypropylene, and of multi-layered, electrically conductive strips 4 made of a polyolefin, for example polypropylene, containing carbon black and/or graphite as a conductive material.
  • the multi-layered strips are obtained by the co-extrusion of several layers and by cutting the thus extruded multi-layered sheet into strips.
  • the conductive strips 4 are woven in the tissue in the weft as well as in the warp according to a square pattern, at intervals of 2 to 4 cm, preferably of some 3 cm.
  • the strips 3 and 4 are for example 1 to 2 mm wide, for example some 1.5 mm.
  • the bag 1 is composed of several pieces of tissue, i.e. a body 5 between a bottom part 6 which is practically square, provided with a discharging connection 7 in the middle, and a cover part 8 which is also practically square and provided with a filling connection 9 in the middle.
  • the discharging connection 7 and the filling connection 9 are bound by means of ribbons 10 sewn to these connections.
  • the body 5 itself is formed of two pieces extending each on two sides of the above-mentioned square bottom part 6 and cover part 8.
  • This conductive thread 11 is a multi-stranded or multifilament thread of which one or several filaments are electrically conductive, in particular made of metal, for example silver.
  • the different parts of the bag 1, i.e. the body 5 and the parts 6 and 8, are electrically connected by means of multi-layered conductive strips 12 sewn to these parts.
  • strips 12 are of the same nature as the strips 4 of the tissue, but they are wider, namely 4 to 6 cm wide, for example some 5 cm.
  • Such a multi-layered strip 12 connecting the body 5 and the cover part 8 is situated under the fastening of each ear 2 to the body 5.
  • This conductive strip 12 is sewn to the edge of the cover part 8 on the one hand, and between the body 5 and one far end of the strip of tissue forming the ear 2 on the other hand.
  • An ear 2 is found in every top corner of the body 5 and, in the given example, is interwoven with extremely sturdy, multi-stranded thread, for example made of a polyolefin, and conductive threads or conductive strips can be incorporated in the tissue in the longitudinal direction of the strip forming the ear.
  • Such a multi-layered conductive strip 12 forming a loop is sewn in a top corner of the body 5, between the two parts of the body 5, whereas another conductive strip 12 is sewn in a lower corner of the body 5, between the two parts of the body 5 and also between these parts and the bottom part 6.
  • Another conductive strip 12 forming a loop is sewn between the discharging connection 7 and the remainder of the bottom part 6, and between the filling connection 9 and the remainder of the cover part 8.
  • Two tabs connected to the conductive ground 13 are sewn to the bag 1 by means of the conductive thread 11 connecting the two pieces of the body 5, one to the top part on one side and the other to a lower corner of the bag 1 on the opposite side.
  • reinforcement strips 14 of multifilament thread made of a polyolefin are sewn to the bag 1.
  • Conductive threads or strips, for example made of a polyolefin containing carbon black and/or graphite, can be interwoven in these reinforcement strips 14.
  • One far end of a reinforcement strip 14 is sewn between the tissue of the bag 1 and one far end of an ear 2, to be more precisely between the tissue of the bag 1 and the multi-layered strip 14 under said ear 2.
  • the reinforcement strip 14 extends up to the bottom part 6. Said strip is about 5 cm wide.
  • the electric resistance to the dissipation of the static electricity of the bag is situated between 10 5 and 10 6 Ohm.
  • the dissipation remains unaltered after a compression test with a load of 1250 kg and a safety factor 6:1 according to EFIBCA standard 004.
