Description

Dichtungseinrichtung seal means
The present invention relates to a sealing device for sealing between a sight glass of a loading door and a housing wall in household appliances, in particular washing machines or washer-dryers.
In front-loading washing machines or washer-dryers, the loading door often consists of a porthole-shaped sight glass that extends towards the inside of the washing machine in order not to leave a dead space between the washing drum and the outside of the device in which the laundry to be treated could remain. The porthole-shaped sight glass is connected to the door frame in a known manner in its edge area by means of a hinge and lock. A suitable sealing device must be used for sealing between the corresponding section of the housing wall and the loading door. Usually, essentially ring-shaped sealing sleeves are used for this purpose, against the head end of which the sight glass presses when the loading door is closed, thus sealing the interior.
From DE-GM 67 51 908 a sealing device for sealing between a porthole-shaped sight glass of a loading door and a housing wall in washing machines is known, which has an essentially annular sealing sleeve. When the loading door is closed, the sight glass with a conical section presses essentially radially against the flat, lip-shaped head section of the sealing sleeve.
A disadvantage of the known sealing device is that it is sensitive to tolerances in two degrees of freedom. A loading door first experiences a rotational movement when it is closed, which has an inward axial movement at the point of impact with the sealing device. For snapping However, the loading door is slightly raised in the hinge shortly before closing, ie the loading door performs a translatory movement in the direction of the loading door plane by centering in the housing cutout. These movements generated during the closing or opening process can adversely affect the sealing function of the present sealing device. In addition, the relatively wide head end of the sealing sleeve can stick to the sight glass when the contact pressure is high, so that the loading door remains closed after the lock has been released. In particular, this can have a disadvantageous effect in the event of a malfunction during the washing process, for example if a locking device prevents the lock of the loading door from opening due to a lack of lye pumping. In such a case, the lock can be mechanically unlocked by operating a Bowden cable. However, if the loading door sticks to the sealing device, the customer is irritated; he suspects a defective lock that does not open the door. The customer then frequently calls customer service unnecessarily.
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a sealing device of the type mentioned, which has a low tolerance sensitivity, the security of the seal even with axial or translational movement of the sight glass, such as when closing the loading door, guaranteed and not even with strong contact pressure sticks to the sight glass, so that the opening of the loading door is not hindered.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the sealing device has, at its end facing the sight glass, a head section which is supported by means of a projection on an edge section of the housing wall delimiting the door opening and which has at least one essentially annular first sealing lamella which, when closed Loading door presses in the axial direction sealing against the edge portion of the sight glass. This advantageously creates a sealing device which has only one sealing plane lying in the direction of the translational degree of freedom of the loading door and therefore reacts less sensitively to existing tolerances. A radially acting sealing lip should be wider than an axially acting one and is then subject to the risk that it will be forced open by the force of splash water. In addition, with a radially acting sealing lip, the closing and opening forces increase to the disadvantage of ease of use. Finally, such a seal also lacks the thrower function for the loading door, which is advantageously present in the case of axially acting seals, by means of which the loading door is automatically pushed open in the opening direction when the loading door is unlocked.
The head section advantageously has a second narrow, essentially ring-shaped sealing lamella, which encloses an acute angle with the first sealing lamella, which results in a more secure seal when the sealing lamella presses in a sealing manner against the edge section of the sight glass when the loading door is closed.
It is particularly advantageous if the second sealing lamella presses in the axial direction in a sealing manner against the inside of the loading door when the loading door is closed. This eliminates the risk of water leakage even with large axial sideways movements of the sight glass. It also seals the connection between the frame and the sight glass.

Die zweite Dichtlamelle 28 drückt gegen den zur Abstützung des Schauglases 7 dienenden Vorsprung 26 an der Innenseite 10 des Türrahmens 5.Only the front side of the washing machine 1 according to FIG. 1 with the housing wall 2 and the control panel 3 is visible. The housing wall 2 contains a loading door 4 with a frame 5, in which a sight glass 7 is fastened and which can be held in the closed position by a closure 6. 2 shows a preferred embodiment of the sealing device 8 according to the invention. The loading door 4 is formed by a cup-like sight glass 7 and a door frame 5. The sight glass 7 has at its outer end an edge section 12 which is delimited by an extension 24 which initially runs essentially perpendicular to the plane of the loading door and then runs parallel to it. A corresponding projection 26 is formed on the inside 10 of the door frame 5 and is used to support the extension 24 of the edge section 12 of the sight glass 7. The door opening 11 of the loading door 4 is delimited by an edge section 20 of the housing wall 2. The sealing sleeve 9 has on its end 14 facing the sight glass 7 a head section 16 which is supported by a projection 18 on the edge section 20 of the housing wall 2. The end of the head section 16 facing the loading door 4 forms two narrow, essentially annular sealing lamellae 22 and 28, which lie at an angle Winkel to one another, the first 22 of which presses obliquely against the loading door axis and the edge section 12 of the sight glass 7. The second sealing lamella 28 presses against the projection 26 serving to support the sight glass 7 on the inside 10 of the door frame 5.
If the loading door 4 is closed, the edge section 12 of the sight glass 7 presses axially against the first sealing lamella 22, thereby ensuring a secure seal. Because of the small width of the sealing lamella 22, the translational movement of the loading door 4 in the direction of the loading door plane that occurs when the closure 6 engages remains without adverse effects. In the preferred embodiment described here, the second sealing lamella 28 simultaneously presses against the projection 26 formed on the inside 10 of the door frame 5. This ensures that the sealing function of the device 8 is retained even with stronger axial outward movements of the sight glass, even if the first sealing lamella 22 no longer abuts the edge section 12 of the sight glass 7. Due to the small width of the sealing lamellae 22, 28, the sealing device 8 is also prevented from sticking to the sight glass 7 when the contact pressure is high, so that the loading door 4 can easily be opened again in any case. It is also possible to use narrow sealing lamellae whose profile has a different geometric shape. The second sealing lamella 28 is not absolutely necessary for the invention, but improves the sealing properties of the sealing device 8. When the loading door 4 is closed, it can also press against the edge section 12 of the sight glass 7 or against the joint formed between the edge section 12 and the projection 26. With a suitably sealed construction of the connection between the sight glass 7 and the door frame 5, a single sealing lamella 22, which bears against the inner surface of the door frame 5, can also be sufficient.
