Definitions
- the invention relates to breathing apparatus intended to protect persons on board an aircraft, and especially the cabin crew, against the effects depressurization at high altitude and / or the appearance toxic fumes or gases.
- the invention relates to devices on demand and dilution regulator respiratory systems and respiratory gas pressure and flow regulators.
- These breathing apparatuses are powered, at intake level, in additional gas supplied by pressurized oxygen cylinders, generators chemicals or selective absorption generators and oxygen restitution called OBOGS (acronym of the expression “on-board generator oxygen system”).
- Regulators deliver breathing gas to which the evolution of the enrichment for a given flow depending on the altitude has a bell shape inverted, i.e. the shape of the curve in solid lines in Figure 1. Due to the characteristics of the ejector, the additional gas flow (oxygen), at low altitude, is much higher than the corresponding flow to the necessary physiological minimum, which increases by monotonous as a function of cabin altitude (curve in dashes in Figure 1).
- An object of the invention is in particular to provide a breathing apparatus with pressure and flow regulator breathing gas to reduce gas flow additional called.
- control means able to modify the additional gas passage section towards the ejector; these means can in particular switch the additional gas supply between several passages admission with different sections; for example, a of these passages corresponds to a so-called “economic” flow and has a weaker section than that of the other passage says "Full flow”.
- Means are advantageously provided to guarantee user safety without user intervention or avoiding false maneuvers.
- the regulator When the regulator is mounted on a mask respiratory with inflatable harness, it includes an actuator harness inflation to port additional gas supply with inflatable harness to inflate it; advantageously, the control means cooperate with the harness inflation actuator to switch the additional gas supply to the passage "Full flow” when the harness inflation actuator is used to inflate the harness. For example, control means switch the gas supply additional on the passage "full flow", under the effect of gas pressure feeding the harness.
- the invention is a generator enriched respiratory gas with a regulator pressure according to the invention.
- the regulator 1 on demand according to the invention is fitted with a flow limiter 2 with control by inflation actuator of a mask wearing harness respiratory.
- the regulator 1 comprises a housing and a "normal / 100%" switch 3, shown in FIG. 2 in "100%" position (air supply blocked).
- the case consists of several parts assemblies defining a fluid circuit. It comprises several fluidic communications with the exterior of the box: an additional gas supply nozzle 27, a connecting tube 4 with the inside of a mask respiratory (not shown), an air inlet 5 of dilution, a vent passage 6 and an outlet of exhaled gases 7. It also has an inlet 8 in communication with the flow limiter 2.
- the housing further comprises several internal fluid communications: a primary conduit 9 comprising a 22 gauge throttle and a conduit secondary 10 connecting compartments separated by a main valve 11 to a compartment 21 corresponding to a pilot valve 12.
- the case still has several organs of switching to modify the circulation of fluids in the circuit defined by the housing.
- These switching bodies are the main valve 11 and the pilot valve 12; the shown regulator further has a setting valve 13 the atmosphere of compartment 21 of the pilot valve 12 and a altimetric capsule 14.
- the main valve 11 is constituted by a membrane 15 cooperating with a fixed seat 16.
- Membrane 15 separates a control chamber 17 from the intake 8, from the primary conduit 9 and connecting tubing 4.
- the control chamber 17 is connected to the inlet 8 by a 18 gauge calibrated throttle. Additional gas inlet pressure, the membrane 15 is applied against seat 16, closes the passage of gas additional in this seat 16 and separates the admission 8 from the tubing 4.
- the pilot valve 12 comprises a membrane 19 pressure sensitive.
- the membrane 19 carries a shutter 20 which cooperates with a fixed seat to set communication the control chamber 17 with the compartment 21 delimited by the membrane 19 or on the contrary to separate chamber 17 and compartment 21.
- compartment 21 also communicates with admission 8 by throttling 22.
- the pilot valve 12 also constitutes a valve exhaust allowing the exit of the gases exhaled by the exhaled gas outlet 7.
- the pressure in room 21 is limited by the vent valve 13 which prohibits the overpressure in room 21 to exceed a value predetermined.
- the altimetric capsule 14 cuts or authorizes the air inlet by the air inlet 5 of dilution in function of altitude. At high altitude, the altimetric capsule 14 cuts off the dilution air inlet, so that the mask is not powered only by additional gas from flow limiter 2.
- regulator 1 The operation of regulator 1 is known and is not therefore not detailed here. We can refer, for more details on its operation, in documents FR-A-1 557 809 and FR-A-2,781,381.
- the flow limiter 2 includes a "full” actuator flow ”/“ economic ”23, a passage with restricted section 25, a “full flow” passage 26.
- the regulator 1 shown has plus a harness inflation actuator 41, a connector harness 28, a plunger 29 and a piston 30.
- the actuator harness inflation 41 has a valve 42 and a ear 24.
- the “full flow” passage 26 has a section such that the additional gas is transmitted through this passage with a maximum flow rate to supply the user with gas additional pure physiologically sufficient to the maximum expected altitude.
- the passage to restricted section 25 corresponds to a so-called “economical” flow and reduces the flow additional gas transmitted from supply 27 to admission 8.
- the plunger 29 has an area of reduced diameter. Depending on the position of the plunger 29, this zone puts communication power 27, both with switching to restricted section 25 and with the “full flow” passage 26, or connects the power supply 27 only with the transition to restricted section 25.
- the plunger can be moved between these two positions by manual action on the "full” actuator flow ”/“ economic ”23 or by a piston 30 belonging to the harness inflation valve 42.
- the piston 30 can be brought temporarily into the illustrated position, thanks to the harness inflation ear 24. In this rest position, the power supply 27 and the harness inflation connector 28 does not communicate. In the other position, a groove 31 of the piston 30 puts in communication power supply 27 and harness connector 28.
- the piston 30 When the piston 30 is brought into position inflation of the harness, it displaces the plunger 29 in its position where the power supply 27 is in communication with the passage with restricted section 25 and with the passage "full flow ”26, if the plunger 29 is not already in this position.
- This is a security measure. So with the embodiment of the invention described here, the first user inspiration through the mask, cannot be limited by insufficient gas flow additional. The user can then, if desired, and if he deems it useful, switch to “economic” mode by bringing the plunger 29 in the so-called “economic” position where only the passage to restricted section 25 is in communication with food 27.
- Figure 1 shows a case where the user switches the actuator 23 at 2500 m to limit the gas flow additional at 0.65 l / min (NTPD) below this altitude (see dotted curve). Above this altitude, the user will remain or return in "full flow” of gas additional, by positioning the actuator "full flow ”/“ economic ”23 in its position allowing the communication of the power supply 27 with the passage “full debit ”26.
- NTPD 0.65 l / min
- the limiter flow 2 has several passages with restricted section 25 of different sizes and which can be used communication selectively with power supply 27, so as to approach the flow curve corresponding to the physiological minimum in steps corresponding to limited flows.
- the demand regulator 1 is fitted with a flow limiter 2 with capsule control altimetric.
- Regulator 1 is identical to that described previously.
- the flow limiter 2 includes an altimetric capsule 32 and a shutter 33, in addition to the "full” actuator “/” economical “23, ear inflation harness 24, passage to restricted section 25, passage “full flow ”26, additional gas supply 27, harness connector 28, plunger 29 and piston 30 already described.
- the plunger 29 and the piston 30 are independent.
- the piston 30 is moved through the harness inflation ear 24 for connect the throat 31 to the power supply 27 and the harness connector 28, but in this displacement the diver 29 is not used, whatever its position.
- the power supply 27 is connected to the section passages restricted 25 and “full flow” 26, via a direct duct 34.
- Direct duct 34 permanently puts supply 27 with passage to restricted section 25.
- a control conduit 35 allows the pressure to be transmitted additional gas in the supply 27, on the plunger 29.
- the shutter 33 is pressed, by a spring or elasticity of the capsule, on a seat and firm the control duct 35.
- the altimetric capsule 32 requires sufficient shutter 33 to overcome the action of the spring.
- the conduit of control 35 opens and the plunger 29 is moved under the breathing gas pressure in "full flow” position, if he was in an "economic” position. So the user is guaranteed to always have a sufficient gas supply respiratory whatever the altitude.
- the demand regulator 1 according to the invention is fitted with a pressure-sensitive flow limiter 2 in the harness.
- the regulator 1, in this embodiment is also identical to that described in relation to the first embodiment.
- the flow limiter 2 comprises a safety conduit 36, between the piston 30 and plunger 29, in addition to the "full” actuator “/" economic “flow 23 of the inflation actuator harness 24, passage with restricted section 25, passage “Full flow” 26, from the supply 27 of respiratory gas, harness connector 28, plunger 29 and piston 30 already described.
- the plunger 29 and the piston 30 are independent.
- the piston 30 is moved through the harness inflation ear 24 to put the groove 31 in communication with the power supply 27 and the harness connector 28.
- the diver 29 is not requested, but the additional gas sent in the harness is also in the safety conduit 36 and with the same pressure. This pressure is sufficient to move the plunger 29 to the "full flow” position, if was in an "economic” position.
- the first inspiration of the user through the mask therefore cannot be limited by insufficient flow of additional gas.
- the user can then, if he wishes and if he judges it useful, switch to “economic” mode by requesting the “full flow” / “economic” actuator 23 for moving the diver 29 in the so-called “economic” position where only the passage to restricted section 25 is in communication with power supply 27, with the same safety measure, ensured by the normal / 100% actuator 3, than that described in relationship with the first embodiment.
- regulator 1 can be placed on a user seat it's usually on civil aircraft worn by this user's mask.
- the mask is in waiting position or stored in a reception box 37.
- the regulator 1 is advantageously provided with safety means intended to bring the normal / 100% actuator 3 in the 100% position when the mask fitted with regulator 1 came out of the box reception 37.
- safety means are for example consist of an elastic lock 38 placed on the box reception 37 and intended to cooperate with a nipple 39 of normal actuator / 100% 3.
- the lock 38 brings, towards the right in figure 5, the normal / 100% actuator 3 of so that it is necessarily in position 100% one times the mask out of its inbox 37. This furthermore, as explained above, prevents the actuator "Full flow” / "economic” 23 is not in position "Economical” when the mask is taken out of its box reception 37.
