Description

The technical sector of the present invention is that containers for propellant charge modules.

To transport the propellant charges, in the form of modules, i.e. blocks of agglomerated propellant powder, these are placed in a adequate packaging. On the other hand, when it is necessary to charge a weapon using these modules it is necessary to master pyrotechnic risks during all phases of the transport. Currently this loading is done in handling bare blocks on very short paths. Thus, we know a feeding system of a cannon in ammunition consisting of a projectile and modules charges taken from a store. This system is described in patent FR-A-2 764 055 and includes in particular a store containing modules arranged nearby barrel which are transferred using pliers on a stretcher then carefully pushed into the cannon chamber. There is no question of transferring these modules over a greater distance using a means of transport and above all it is not possible to manipulate.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a means for handling propellant charge modules while by offering a high level of security between a remote storage of the loading position in the weapon.

The invention therefore relates to a container for modules of propellant charge for loading a weapon using means of transport, characterized in that it comprises a protective means, isolating said modules from the means of transport, consisting of a rigid tubular body, a sheath for receiving modules and a means for blocking modules in the sheath.

According to a first embodiment, the sheath is produced made of a deformable material.

According to another embodiment, the blocking means ensures the deformation of the sheath to immobilize the modules.

According to yet another embodiment, the blocking means consists of pads bearing on the sheath.

According to yet another embodiment, the skates are subject to the action of a control means integral with the body.

According to yet another embodiment, the means of control consists of springs connected to a bar of control equipped with an operating member.

According to yet another embodiment, the body is provided a longitudinal slot allowing the passage of the organ of introduction of the modules in the sheath.

According to yet another embodiment, the body presents to one end a crown allowing the manipulation of said container during transport between the position of filling and loading position in the weapon.

According to yet another embodiment, the body is metal and plastic sheath.

According to yet another embodiment, the container contains two to six propellant charge modules.

An important advantage of the invention lies in the the propellant charge modules are immobilized regardless of container movements during taking charge of them by means of transport. The modules therefore do not undergo any displacement during handling by transport devices.

Another advantage is that security is under control because the risks of initiation following the friction are eliminated.

Yet another advantage is that a any pyrotechnic event has its effect maintained and directed to the ends of the container.

Other characteristics, details and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly from the description given below by way of indication in relation to the drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a schematic view of the container according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section of the container,
  • FIG. 3 is a cross section of the container, and
  • Figure 4 is a cross section showing the blocking means of the modules.

The propellant charge module container is provided to be integrated into a chain integrating means of high-speed automatic transport from a store up to the weapon implementing this type of charge. We understands that when this distance is important, it is necessary avoid any degradation of the modules and of course everything friction, fall or shock. Taking over the container by the gripping means of the transport chain do must cause no interference with the modules.

In Figure 1, there is shown a view of the container 1 in the form of an open tubular body 2 at both ends. This body must be made in one material rigid enough to be able to withstand shocks and / or aggressions to which it may be subjected during his manipulations. We can for example realize this body in metal. The body 2 is provided along a generator with a slot 3 giving access to the interior. The body has one of its ends a crown 6 on which the gripping and handling means (not shown) will act to transport and block the container during of transportation. So container 1 can be transferred from a first storage warehouse to an intermediate warehouse via a transfer chain, then intermediate store to a loading barrel in which it can be immobilized to ensure the transfer modules in the gun chamber. We can see that during of all these transfers and manipulation it is imperative that modules are protected and removed from any action direct.

The container 1 is provided with a longitudinal bar 4 secured to an operating member 5 as will be explained in more detail below. Container 1 can include in addition to an electromagnetic circuit 13 making it possible to recognize its content, memorize the information even in power supply failure and therefore recognize the configuration in ammunition of the system at any time especially during the power up. The information contained can be read at some steps to transfer the container using a reader installed according to the needs of the management system ammunition.

In Figure 2, there is shown in a section longitudinal the container 1 whose body 2 is visible on the left side and slot 3 on the right side. AT inside this body, there is provided a sheath 7 made of a flexible material, for example a plastic material. We preferably choose a material able to deform under the action of a blocking means and to regain its shape initial upon the disappearance of the action of said means. This sheath 7 can be adjusted either according to a layout without clearance with respect to body 1 either with a slight clearance for constitute the housing of the clamping members shown in Figure 4.

Figure 3 shows a cross section of the container 1 where we see the body 2 and the sheath 7 joined by lugs 8 and 9 at the edges of the slot 3. This fixing allows the contact surface to be left free more important between these two elements.

Figure 4 illustrates the realization of a means of blocking of the load modules 11 in the container. These there are six modules in the example shown, but a lower number of modules can be provided. These modules 11 are introduced into the sheath 7 using a comb as part of a gripping system (not shown) whose arms cross slot 3 to introduce these into the sheath 7. The introduction is made following a translational movement. The container is provided a module blocking means 11 consisting of pads 10 actuated by bar 4 intended to exert a thrust by means of springs 12. These pads 10 are in support on the outer surface of the sheath 7 and come compress this sheath and thus block each of the modules 11. As indicated above, bar 4 is a bar of command to exert a liberation effort on the pads 10 via the springs 12. We understand it suffices to actuate the lever 5 secured to the bar 4 to release the pads and thus allow the introduction modules in the container or release them when wish to collect these modules to load the weapon by example using a pusher.

The container according to the invention allows a support and a immobilization of the modules in a positive way in all directions of space and during all phases of conveying and / or hoisting them, guiding on a continuous and smooth (non-abrasive) surface formed by the sheath, releasing the pads reliably and simply and finally the isolation of nominal external aggressions and / or accidental. Even in case of inflammation accidental the dreaded effects are channeled according to the longitudinal axis of the container towards the ends.
