All of the components of the strip are blended prior to molding or extrusion. For best results, it is preferred that the components are dry.
  • the blended components may be extruded through a Haake System 90, 3/4 inch diameter extruder with a barrel pressure of about 1000-2000 psi, a rotor speed of about 10 to 50 rpm, and a temperature of about 150°-185°C and a die temperature of about 170°-185°C.
  • a 1 1/4 inch single screw extruder may be employed with a processing temperature of 175°-200°C, preferably 185°-190°C, a screw speed of 20 to 50 rpm, preferably 25 to 35 rpm, and an extrusion pressure of 1800 to 5000 psi, preferably 2000 to 3500 psi.
  • the extruded strip is air cooled to about 25°C.
  • the strips it is preferred to first extrude the powder blend into pellets. This can be done on a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch single screw extruder at a temperature of 120°-180°C, preferably 140°-150°C, with a screw speed of 20 to 100 rpm, preferably 45 to 70 rpm.

Because they have different compositions, the two molten materials are brought together at the last possible moment before exiting the die.   • the final dimensions are achieved using a series of forming rollers as the extrudate is cooled.
  • the strip is typically extruded at a rate of about 50 feet per minute.
  • the combined molten materials are drawn from the die head into the sizing/cooling device at a constant speed such that its cross section is always constant. Under a bath of cool dry air the molten material is cooled until no longer pliable. Once cooled, the strips can be cut to the appropriate length and attached to razor cartridges like cartridge 14.
  • Shaving aid strips with a cross-section like that of strip 22' shown in Fig. 7 are fabricated from the blends of components indicated below by coextruding the blends in the manner described above with respect to Examples 1 to 4. Claims (17)

  1. Rasierklingeneinheit (14), aufweisend eine Klinge (18) und einen auf die Haut aufsetzenden Abschnitt in der Nähe der Klinge, einschließend einen festen, polymeren Rasierhilfsstreifen (22) mit einer oberen exponierten Oberfläche, wobei der Rasierhilfsstreifen vor der ersten Anwendung der Klingeneinheit einen ersten, exponierten, sich längs erstreckenden Abschnitt (24) aufweist, der ein gleitfähigmachendes, wasserlösliches Polymer enthält, und einen angrenzenden zweiten, exponierten, sich längs erstreckenden Abschnitt (26) aufweist, der ein gleitfähigmachendes, wasserlösliches Polymer enthält, wobei der erste Abschnitt (24) in Gewichtsprozent eine größere Menge des gleitfähigmachenden, wasserlöslichen Polymers aufweist als der zweite Abschnitt (26) und wobei der erste Abschnitt (24) so ausgelegt ist, dass er sich während des Rasierens mit größerer Geschwindigkeit abnutzt als der zweite Abschnitt (26).
  2. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 1, worin der erste Abschnitt etwa Null bis 30 Gew.% wasserunlösliches Polymer und etwa 65% bis etwa 95 Gew.% wasserlösliches Polymer aufweist und wobei-der-zweite Abschnitt etwa 10% bis etwa 40 Gew.% wasserunlösliches Polymer und etwa 50% bis etwa 80 Gew.% wasserlösliches Polymer aufweist.
  3. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 1, worin der erste Abschnitt etwa 10% bis 25 Gew.% wasserunlösliches Polymer und etwa 65% bis etwa 90 Gew.% Polyethylenoxid aufweist und wobei der zweite Abschnitt etwa 20% bis etwa 35 Gew.% wasserunlösliches Polymer und etwa 55% bis etwa 75 Gew.% Polyethylenoxid aufweist.
  4. Rasierklingeneinheitnach Anspruch 3, worin das Polyethylenoxid ein Blend von mindestens einem Polyethylenoxid aufweist, das eine relative Molekülmasse im Bereich von 100.000 bis 500.000 hat und mindestens einem Polyethylenoxid, das eine relative Molekülmasse im Bereich von 3.000.000 bis 8.000.000 hat.
  5. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 4,worin das wasserunlösliche Polymer aufweist: Polyethylen, Polypropylen, Polystyrol, Butadien/Styrol-Copolymer (mittelzähes und hochschlagzähes Polystyrol), Polyacetal, Acrylnitril/Butadien/Styrol-Copolymer, Ethylen/Vinylacetat-Copolymer, Polyurethan und Blends davon.
  6. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 1 oder 5, worin der erste Abschnitt eine obere exponierte Oberfläche hat, die etwa 55% bis etwa 85% der Oberfläche der oberen exponierten Oberfläche des Rasierhilfsstreifen ausmacht.
  7. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin der erste Abschnitt eine obere exponierte Oberfläche hat, die etwa 60% bis etwa 80% der Oberfläche der oberen exponierten Oberfläche des Rasierhilfsstreifen ausmacht.
  8. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin sich der zweite Abschnitt mindestens teilweise unterhalb des ersten Abschnittes erstreckt und diesem Halt vermittelt.
  9. RasierklingeneinheitnachAnspruch 8, worin sich die Grenzfläche zwischen dem zweiten Abschnitt und dem ersten Abschnitt einer schrägen Ebene nähert.
  10. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin sich der zweite Abschnitt im wesentlichen unterhalb des ersten Abschnittes erstreckt und diesem Halt vermittelt.
  11. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 10, worin die Grenzfläche zwischen dem zweiten Abschnitt und dem ersten Abschnitt krummlinig oder bogenförmig ist.
  12. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin sich die oberste Oberfläche des ersten Abschnittes etwas oberhalb der obersten Oberfläche des zweiten Abschnittes erstreckt.
  13. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 11, worin sich die oberste Oberfläche des ersten Abschnittes etwas oberhalb der obersten Oberfläche des zweiten Abschnittes erstreckt.
  14. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin der erste Abschnitt ein Farbmittel enthält, um so mit dem zweiten Abschnitt zu kontrastieren.
  15. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 14, worin der Rasierhilfsstreifen auf der Rasierklingeneinheit so orientiert ist, dass der erste Abschnitt hinter dem zweiten Abschnitt ist.
  16. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 6, worin der Rasierhilfsstreifen auch einen Verbindungsabschnitt einschließt, der sich unterhalb der ersten und zweiten Abschnitte erstreckt.
  17. Rasierklingeneinheit nach Anspruch 16, worin der Verbindungsabschnitt die gleiche Zusammensetzung hat wie der zweite Abschnitt.
