Refill devices for filling containers or ink tanks are known in principle.
There are, for example, refill systems, for filling ink tanks for ink-jet systems and plotters or for other automatic registration, writing or drawing systems, with the help of which it is possible to replace the empty ink tanks of the printheads or recording pens with new ones Refill ink or other recording media.

From [1] US Pat. No. 5,595,223 an ink refill device is known in which an adapter is provided which is arranged on a print head and with the help of which on the one hand the ink tank of the print head is opened and also a refill container is placed, pierced and fastened can be. When the container is opened or punctured, the closure parts are loosened or destroyed, so that the ink can then flow from the container into the tank.
The air equalization in the tank to be filled and via this in the refill container takes place via air channels that open into the open. To fill the tank, the refill container must be arranged above or above the adapter so that the ink can flow automatically from the container into the tank due to gravity.
A disadvantage of such a device in the form of this adapter is that the adapter cannot be used to refill a hermetically sealed tank or a tank without permanently open air equalization due to the counter pressure building up.

Devices and arrangements are also known from [2] DE 199 12 620 A1 , in which refill containers are connected to an ink tank by an adapter and are arranged essentially one above the other in the filling position. The filling process is carried out by gravity, since the ink bag in the ink tank, if present, can unfold as soon as ink flows into it. The disadvantage here is that refilling the ink tank is only possible and works as long as there is no back pressure in the ink tank of the lower level or builds up.
A counterpressure, for example, would exist or build up if the ink bag shown there were surrounded by a housing that was hermetically sealed from the surroundings. Then it would not be possible to refill the ink reservoir with the described device due to the resulting excess pressure, even with aids such as pumps. In another solution shown there, only an internal pressure equalization takes place between two inflexible and rigidly connected ink tanks via simple air outlets.

In contrast, the object of the invention is to provide a device for refilling ink tanks which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above and which offers the user an inexpensive, simple and clean possibility of refilling tanks which are difficult to refill, such as hermetically sealed tank systems.
As a result, the existing material, such as empty tanks, with or without printheads, can be used again, which saves resources, reduces waste and, on the other hand, saves costs for the user.

The solution of this object is achieved in an apparatus for filling an ink cartridge with the encompassed in claim 1.

In FIG. 2 , the adapter 1 is shown as a separate part from the front or from the side to which the ink tank (2), not shown here, is connected. A tank connection 12 is arranged as a plug connection on the distributor housing 11 of the adapter 1. The tank connection 12 consists of a connection body 121, as well as a filling connection 123, with a tank cannula 142 and an air connection 124, with an air cannula 151. In Figure 3, the filling situation is depicted in which a refill container 3 is inserted in or on the distributor housing 11 of the adapter 1 and an ink tank 2 is pushed.
The tank mouthpiece 23 of the ink tank 2 is placed on the tank connection 12 of the adapter 1 and connected to its filling connection 123 in a friction-locked manner.
The reserve ink flows as refill means 300 via the fill system 14, or via the container cannula 143, the fill channel 141 and the tank cannula 142 into the tank reservoir 22 of the ink tank 2, as reusable writing means 200 from there. Claims (11)
