Description

The invention relates to a liquid regulator for supplying a consumer with Liquid according to the preamble of claim 1. The liquid consumers can for example, tips of writing, painting, and brushing tools or order and Spray elements from liquid dispensers.

In known writing instruments, such as. B. fountain pens, the ink supply takes place Nibs through capillaries that use their capillary power to draw ink from a Vacuum the storage container, dimensioning an air equalization opening in the storage container is that the ink is replaced by air only when the pressure drops below a negative pressure becomes. The vacuum in the container is sufficient, the ink spills despite its weight to prevent. These ink supply systems have the peculiarity that they change with temperature are not leak-proof because the air is in the storage container expands and thereby the negative pressure preventing leakage is reduced. Measures to prevent such ink leakage using additional capillary Buffer memory for the temporary absorption of an excessive volume of ink are complex and only effective to a limited extent.

From EP 0 240 994 B1 is a device according to the preamble of the attached Known main claim, the valve between a liquid reservoir and an intermediate reservoir is arranged, from which the consumer via a capillary Line is supplied with liquid. If the intermediate reservoir is exhausted Liquid increasingly empties, there is a negative pressure, so that with his one side to the liquid reservoir and the other side to the intermediate reservoir limiting valve opens and the intermediate reservoir is filled with liquid again fills. A peculiarity of this system is that it leads to a permanent interruption the fluid supply can come if the vacuum is otherwise compensates.

Claims 4 to 7 are directed to advantageous features of the capillary valve, wherein with the features of claim 6, a particularly high reliability is achieved.

According to claim 8, the valve opening force can be that of the liquid supply column effective pressure can be used.

With the features of claim 9, the leakproofness is further increased, since a Ventilation of the interior of the elastic bag is not necessary.

Finally, claims 10 and 11 are based on two advantageous examples of application device directed.

1, a fiber pen has a housing 2 which passes through in its interior Partitions 4, 6 and 8 is divided into different chambers. The partition 4 is provided with an annular flange 10 on which a resilient sack 12 is slipped. the contains a liquid supply 14, the liquid being any known writing liquid, ink, for example. An opening leads through the partition 4 16 into a line 18, from which a valve opening 20 through the partition 6 leads through. On the end of the valve opening 20 facing away from the line 18 is a valve member 22, the distance d between the valve member 22 and the Partition 6 has capillary dimensions explained below.

The line 18 can be filled with a flow-damping material so that Pressure waves from the liquid supply 14 have no effect on the valve functions to have.

Die Schreibspitze 28 ist in einen Flansch der Trennwand 8 eingesetzt und wird in ihrem vorderen Bereich zusätzlich von dem dort konisch auslaufenden Gehäuse 2 gehalten.1 below the valve opening 20, a line 24 is formed in the partition 6, whose diameter is advantageously smaller than the distance d and over a connection opening 26 in the space between the partition 6 and the valve member 22 opens. The line 24 leads to a capillary writing tip which is customary in its construction 28, as used for fiber pens. The writing tip 28 is in one Flange of the partition 8 is used and is also in its front area the tapered housing 2 held there.

The writing tip 28 can also directly into the space between the valve member 22 and the Insert partition 6.

Luftausgleichsöffnungen 30, 32 und 34 sorgen für eine Belüftung des Inneren des Gehäuses 2.Air compensation openings 30, 32 and 34 provide ventilation of the interior of the housing 2nd

The overall plate-shaped valve member 22 that between itself and the partition 6 delimits a plate-shaped or disk-shaped capillary space 36 with the thickness d, is hinged at 38 to the partition 4 and protrudes into a recess 40 Partition 8, which forms an opening limitation for the valve member 22. Instead of one articulated connection, an elastic connection can be provided.

  • a: spezifisches Gewicht der Flüssigkeit
  • Before explaining the function of the device described, a few physical basics are briefly noted:
In the case of valve member 22 closing valve opening 20, the following force acts on valve member 22 through valve opening 20 from the liquid column present on the left-hand side of valve opening 20: K = π xr 2nd xhxa in which
  • r: radius of the valve opening
  • h: height of the liquid column and
  • a: specific gravity of the liquid

  • If the valve member 22 on its side facing the capillary space 36 and the partition 6 on its side facing the capillary space 36 consist of a material which is wetted by the liquid, the liquid is sucked into the capillary space 36 as a result of the capillary reaction and, if necessary, additionally the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid acid is pressed into the capillary space 36. As a result, the valve member 22 is pulled by the liquid in the capillary space with the following force in the closing direction, ie in contact with the edge of the valve opening 20: K s = 2 xoxf / d in which
  • o: surface tension of the liquid,
  • d: thickness of the capillary space 36 and
  • f: surface of the valve member 22 wetted by liquid.
  • Übliche Dimensionierungen liegen in folgenden Bereichen:

  • d: 0,01 bis 1 mm
  • f: 1 mm2 bis mehrere cm2
  • h: 1 cm bis 1 m
  • r: 0,01 bis 5 mm
  • o: 10 bis 70 x 10-2 N/m
  • The usual dimensions are in the following areas:
  • d: 0.01 to 1 mm
  • f: 1 mm 2 to several cm 2
  • h: 1 cm to 1 m
  • r: 0.01 to 5 mm
  • o: 10 to 70 x 10 -2 N / m
  • Mit d: 0,1 mm, o = 50 x 10-2 N/m, f = 1 cm2, ergibt sich: KS = 0,1 N.
    Mit r = 0,2 mm, h = 5 cm, a = 104 N/m3 ergibt sich: K = 6 x 10-5 N.
    With d: 0.1 mm, o = 50 x 10 -2 N / m, f = 1 cm 2 , we get: K S = 0.1 N.
    With r = 0.2 mm, h = 5 cm, a = 10 4 N / m 3, the result is: K = 6 x 10 -5 N.

The opening force exerted by the height of the liquid column is therefore only one Fraction of the closing force, which means that the valve is closed extremely securely and there is no risk of opening in the event of impact movements, provided the mass of the valve member 22 is small.

Die Funktion des beschriebenen Faserschreibers ist folgende:The function of the fiber pen described is as follows:

Assume that the fiber pen is in the state shown in Fig. 1, i.e. the valve member 22 closes the valve opening 20. since the capillary space 36 is sufficient Liquid is filled. When writing with the fiber pen and liquid is released from the writing tip 28, the capillary space 36 increasingly emptied. The Closing force of the valve member 22 thereby decreases, so that with a sufficiently empty capillary space the liquid pressure and / or a shaking movement opens the valve member 22, whereupon the capillary space is affected by the hydrostatic pressure or capillarity again fills with liquid and the valve member 22 again closes the opening 20. The process starts again. It is advantageous if the line 24th has a greater capillarity than the capillary space 36, since this ensures that the Line 24 "vacuums" the capillary space.

It is understood that the device described can be modified in many ways. The internal division of the housing can be different; the writing tip can be different; the arrangement of the ventilation openings can be modified; in the area of the bag 12, the housing can be opened so that the bag can be replaced in a simple manner is. Even if the entire device is completely blank, it fills up after insertion of a new sack automatically and completely with ink without risk of contamination consists.

The valve member 22 is here designed as an elastic membrane 50, which is reinforced by means of a reinforcing plate 52 is reinforced. In its upper area 54 is the elastic membrane 50 with the partition 6 rigidly connected, so that between the area rigidly connected, for example by gluing 54 and the area reinforced by means of the reinforcing plate 52 remains free, which forms a joint of the valve member 22. The capillary space 36 is defined that the partition 6 is recessed to an appropriate depth, the valve member 22 facing end edge of the valve opening 20 by the thickness or depth of the Protrudes capillary space. With this construction of the valve member 22 is simple Construction achieved a particularly high level of functional reliability.

Fig. 4 shows the construction according to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 schematically in its application in the case of a printing unit 56 of a printing device 58, such as is used, for example, in inkjet printers is used. The liquid supply 14 borders here directly on the Partition 6 with the valve opening 20. The writing tip 28 (FIG. 1) corresponds to a capillary wick 60, which supplies the printing unit 56 with liquid.

Ansonsten ist die Funktion ebenso wie die der Ausführungsform gemäß Fig. 1.FIG. 5 shows an embodiment of the invention that has been modified compared to FIG. 1 Regulator: The valve member 22 is here articulated to the partition 6 Plate 70 is formed, which has an opening in which a ball 72 is fixed. The Ball 72 can also be formed in one piece with plate 70, for example by injection molding his. By means of the ball 72, which should be made of the lightest possible material, the Closing security of the valve 20, 22 improved and its sensitivity to contamination decreased. Another difference from the embodiment according to FIG. 1 is that the consumer, also formed here as a capillary writing tip 28, directly adjoins the capillary space 36, which simplifies the construction and increases the functional reliability, especially since the capillarity of the writing tip 28 is greater than that of the capillary space 22. Otherwise, the function is the same as that of the embodiment according to FIG. 1.
