Definitions

  • the invention relates to a high-rotation atomizer for applying powder coating according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • the powder feed channel is passed through the hollow shaft of the motor and opens at the front very close to the axis of the bell cup.
  • the paint powder is brought very close to the axis in the range of action of the high-rotation atomizer, where its speed is relatively low. This deteriorates the efficiency of the turbulence achieved by the bell cup.
  • Object of the present invention is to provide a high-rotation atomizer of the type mentioned, which can be easily assembled and disassembled for cleaning purposes.
  • housing and at least one housing insert are conical in the front region and abut each other with conical surfaces, the assembly and disassembly of Hochrotationszerstäubers is facilitated because housing and housing insert can be fixed in one direction by nesting the conical areas and only at the opposite end require a fastening device.
  • the mechanical structure is such that the conical surfaces of the housing and the housing insert are formed self-sealing and / or self-locking. This also facilitates the assembly; special sealants are unnecessary.
  • the powder supply to the bell cup through the housing does not occur through the hollow axis of the engine, as in the prior art described above. Rather, the entire engine is bypassed by the powder feed channel. It can be placed in this way through a housing area in which there is enough space for large cross sections available.
  • the powder throughput is therefore not limited by geometric conditions, not even by the pressure of the exhaust air of the engine as in the above-mentioned US 4,844,348 ,
  • PulverzuFINäle also several PulverzuFINäle can be provided easily.
  • that embodiment is recommended in which a plurality of powder feed channels are arranged radially outside the engine in a corresponding multiple rotational symmetry.
  • the powder feed channel may be formed at least in a portion at the interface between two parts. This has the advantage that the inner surface of this region of the Pulverzu Foodkanales is immediately accessible during the disassembly of the two parts and can be cleaned.
  • the two parts mentioned are, on the one hand, the housing and, on the other hand, the housing insert.
  • the housing insert which partially limits the powder feed channel, is connected as a high-voltage electrode.
  • the paint powder is thus brought over a considerable distance through the housing in contact with a surface which carries high voltage. This gives a very good ionization effect.
  • the shaft of the engine that drives the bell cup of the engine is air bearing.
  • an air bearing bush is provided, in which the shaft of the motor is guided. Bearing air is forced radially inward through small channels in the air bearing bush and thus forms an air cushion between the inner circumferential surface of the air bearing bush and the outer circumferential surface of the shaft.
  • the shaft of the motor is hollow and has radial bores through which the bearing air can enter the interior of the shaft, and if the interior of the shaft with a through hole of the bell cup communicates, which opens into the front of the bell plate.
  • the shaft is no longer needed to powder feed; it can now be used for another purpose, namely to supply cleaning air to the bell cup, with which there adhesions can be blown off.
  • the bearing air is supplied to a second use: the fact that they can enter the hollow shaft of the engine and can be supplied via this the bell cup, occurs they do not, as before, unused but also takes over the cleaning function.
  • the Hochrotationszerstäuber shown in Figure 1 has a housing 1, which is integrally composed of a rear housing portion 1a, a radially extending annular shoulder 1b and a front housing portion 1c.
  • the rear housing section 1a widens with a small cone angle in the direction of the rear side of the high-rotation atomizer;
  • the front housing portion 1c is conical, but the cone angle is greater than that of the rear housing portion 1a.
  • the housing 1 is made entirely of plastic.
  • From the radially outer edge of the step 1b of the housing also has a conical and also made of plastic ring member 2 extends to the front portion of the outer surface of the front housing portion 1c.
  • the ring member 2 is sealed against the housing 1 at both circular edges, so that it encloses an annular space 3 with the housing 1. This serves in a manner not of interest to carry out shaping air, with which the shape of the powder cloud produced can be influenced.
  • an electrode insert 4 is arranged, which has a relatively short in the axial direction, circular cylindrical rear portion 4a and a conical front portion 4b.
  • the front portion 4b of the electrode insert 4 terminates near the front end of the front housing portion 1c.
  • FIG. 2 shows, two mirror-symmetrical recesses 50, 51 are arranged on the inner lateral surface of the front housing section 1c, which extend from the rear side of the step 1b to the front end of the front housing section 1c, thereby approaching one another circular cross-sectional shape in the cross-sectional shape of arcuate column pass.
  • the conical inner lateral surface of the front housing section 1c lies against the conical lateral surface of the front section 4b of the electrode insert 4 via two webs 7, 8.
  • the front portion 4b of the electrode insert 4 and the front housing portion 1c two channels 9 and 10. These channels 9, 10 are inclined relative to the common axis of the housing 1 and the electrode insert 4 so that they towards the front end of the high rotation atomizer converge.
  • a radially extending flange 4c is integrally formed on the electrode insert 4, which extends parallel to the annular shoulder 1b of the housing 1, fitting against the inside.
  • the annular flange 4c is penetrated by two recesses 11, 12 continuing the channels 9, 10.
  • an air-driven motor 13 is used whose shaft 14 is coaxial with the housing 1 and the electrode insert 4 and passes through a through hole 15 in the electrode insert 4.
  • the hub of a bell cup 16 is engaged, such that the bell cup 16 rotates together with the shaft 14.
  • the motor 13 is fixed to the electrode insert 4 by means of a larger radius region 13a. This happens because the motor region 13a between the rear end side of the electrode insert 4 and a pot-shaped holding insert 17th is trapped.
  • the holding insert 17 stepped bores 18 through which screws 19 are passed. These screws 19 pass through through holes 20 in the motor portion 13 a and are screwed into threaded holes 21 of the electrode insert 4.
  • connection sockets 22, 23 By a radially projecting flange 17a of the holding insert 17, two sockets 22, 23 are passed. At the connection sockets 22, 23 respectively the rear end of a connecting tube 24, 25 is fixed, which is connected at its front end with a beryllium sleeve 40 (Figure 1), which the through hole 11 and 12 in the flange portion 4c of the electrode insert 4 as well the channels 9, 10 passes through and rests against their inner surfaces. This seals the powder flow paths.
  • this sleeve 40 can also be omitted, as shown in FIG.
  • connection plate 26 which bears against the rear of the holding insert 17, which carries various air connections, not shown in the drawing and also serves the attachment to the arm of a robot, also not shown.
  • connection plate 26 Coaxially with the connecting bushes 22, 23 in the holding insert 17 extend through the connecting plate 26 two accelerating nozzle inserts 27, 28. Their exact function is in the present context without interest; their passage openings 29 and 30 are aligned with the passage opening of the adjacent connection socket 22 and 23, respectively.
  • connection nipple 31, 32 On the rear end side of the accelerating nozzle inserts 27, 28 is, again in alignment, respectively a connection nipple 31, 32 is placed, which serves to connect to a flexible hose through which the Powder is supplied from a storage container. Connecting nipples 31 and 32 and accelerating nozzle inserts 27, 28 are fastened with screws 33 to the connecting plate 26, that after loosening the screws 33, first the connecting nipple 31, 32 removed and then the acceleration nozzle inserts 27, 28 are removed from the terminal plate 26 can.
  • connection plate 26 is held by means of a union nut 34 on the housing 1, which finds a stop on a peripheral stage of the housing 1 and is screwed onto an external thread 35 of the connection plate 26.
  • the high rotation atomizer can be mounted in the following way:
  • the motor 13 is inserted into the interior of the electrode insert 4 and secured there by means of the holding insert 17.
  • the connecting bushes 22, 23, which are inserted into the flange area 17a of the holding part 17, are connected via the hoses 24, 25 to the through-holes 11, 12 in the flange section 4c of the electrode insert 4.
  • the unit thus formed is inserted into the housing 1 until the conical lateral surface of the portion 4b bear against the likewise conical webs 7, 8 of the inner circumferential surface of the housing 1.
  • the cone angle can be chosen so that there is a kind of self-locking and sealing effect in the manner of "Morse cones".
  • an air guide body 36 is placed, which is not of interest in the present context. It has a through hole 37 which surrounds the hub of the bell cup 16 at a distance.
  • the shaft 14 of the air motor 13 is hollow. It is mounted in a bearing bush 38, which has a plurality of very fine, radially directed through holes 41. Also, the hollow shaft 14 is provided with a plurality of radial bores 39. Their rear, so in Figure 1 right end is closed by a closure body 39a. Their front, in Figure 1 as a left end, however, communicates with a through hole 40a of the bell cup 16, which opens into the front end face.
  • the radially outer side of the bearing bush 38 is pressurized with compressed air.
  • This compressed air penetrates the small radial through-holes 41 of the bearing bush 38 and initially provides for a storing air cushion between the bearing bush 38 and the motor shaft 14.
  • the bearing air then passes through the radial bores 39 of the motor shaft 14 and is in the interior to the front end and thus to the through hole 40 a of the bell cup 16 out. When it exits at the front end of the bell cup 16 this is freed of adhesions.
  • the paint powder supplied via the connection nipples 31, 32 is first accelerated in the accelerator nozzle inserts 27, 28 via the hoses 24, 25 into the sleeves 40 passing through the through bores 11, 12 and the channels 9, 10 for reasons not of further interest here brought in.
  • the paint powder thereby sweeps along metallic surfaces which are electrically connected to the electrode insert 4, and is directly ionized. It now emerges in this ionized form through the two lying between the front end of the housing 1 and the front end of the electrode insert 4 arcuate outlet column, passes through the through bore 37 of the air guide body 36 and is subsequently swirled by the rotating bell cup 16.
  • the shape of the resulting powder cloud is influenced by a guide air flow, which is guided along the outer circumferential surface of the air guide body 36 in a manner not described here.
  • the described high-rotation atomizer thus has two Pulverzu thoroughlykanäle, each through an accelerator nozzle insert 27, 28, a hose 24, 25, a through hole 11, 12 in the flange 4c of the electrode insert 4 and a channel 9, 10 between the housing 1 and the electrode insert 4th passing sleeve 40 are formed.
  • the off-center guidance of Pulverzu Foodkanäle allows high flow cross-sections, so that it is possible to achieve high powder performance.
  • the powder can be passed on large electrode surfaces, so that a good ionization can be achieved.
