Description
The present invention relates to a flameproof nonwoven fabric comprising regenerated cellulose fibers and a process for producing the same.
Cryogenic tank systems, such as storage tanks or transport tanks for temperature-sensitive substances such. Liquid gases, usually consisting of an outer tank and an inner tank, wherein the inner tank is inserted into the outer tank, that between the outer and the inner tank, a space remains, which can be evacuated with a view to a good insulating effect. In order to improve the insulating effect, moreover, both the outer and the inner tank are usually surrounded with insulating materials.
- 1. Barrier action to prevent convective heat transport
- 2. low or no flammability to prevent fire of flammable substances in the tank system, and
- 3. Low moisture absorption to facilitate evacuation of the gap.
For example, it is known from WO-A-97/17149 to equip the inner tank with a cryogenic insulation, which is a composite structure of a glass fiber fleece or a glass fiber fabric and an aluminum foil.
As is known in the art, however, fiberglass fabrics and / or nonwoven fabrics may exhibit hard-crystalline fiber fragments in the event of breakage or destruction of the fabric or web which are believed to be responsible for certain diseases such as silicosis.
Thus, the use of glass fibers in these tank systems suffers from the disadvantage that if the tank system breaks and the associated damage to the relatively thin layers wound around the inner tank poses a health hazard to the persons in contact with it and above In addition, the disposal of such tank containers raises high disposal costs.
The JP-A-49-094903 discloses a paper substitute material consisting of 50 to 90 parts of non-meltable fine fibers having a fiber diameter of up to 10 μ m and 50 fire-resistant up to 10 parts of rayon fibers containing 10 to 40% phosphorus-containing polymer is.
Die JP-A-50-053 428 offenbart Faservliese oder Papiere, die mit einer Emulsion eines Copolymers aus Ethylen, Vinylchlorid und einem vernetzenden Monomer oder eines Copolymers aus Ethylen, Vinylchlorid, einem vernetzenden Monomer und Vinylacetat behandelt sind.JP-A-50-053 428 discloses nonwoven fabrics or papers treated with an emulsion of a copolymer of ethylene, vinyl chloride and a crosslinking monomer or a copolymer of ethylene, vinyl chloride, a crosslinking monomer and vinyl acetate.
Die DE-A-20 45 118 offenbart ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines ungewebten Fasererzeugnisses aus Viskosefasern, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass Hydroxymethyl-cellulosexanthat enthaltende Viskosefasern in einem wässerigen Medium dispergiert werden, dass die dispergierten Viskosefasern zu einer Bahn verarbeitet werden, dass die Viskosefasern zum Quellen gebracht werden, dass die gequollenen Viskosefasern miteinander verbunden werden, und dass das Hydroxymethyl-cellulosexanthat in den Viskosefasern zu Cellulose zersetzt wird.DE-A-20 45 118 discloses a process for producing a nonwoven viscose fiber product, characterized in that viscose fibers containing hydroxymethyl cellulose xanthate are dispersed in an aqueous medium such that the dispersed viscose fibers are made into a web such that the viscose fibers be swelled that the swollen viscose fibers are bonded together, and that the hydroxymethyl cellulose xanthate is decomposed in the viscose fibers to cellulose.
Die RO-A-72 989 offenbart ein flammfest machendes Mittel für Papier aus synthetischen Fasern, das ein Kondensat aus Phosphorsäure und Harnstoff (1:3) umfasst.RO-A-72989 discloses a flameproofing agent for synthetic fiber paper comprising a condensate of phosphoric acid and urea (1: 3).
In Przim. Chim. In Przim. Chim. 64, No. 8, 381-383 (1985), an experiment is described in which a handmade paper made from beech and pine pulp was impregnated for various periods with aqueous solutions of urea, dibasic ammonium phosphate or phosphoric acid. As a result, such treated paper had an LOI of up to 92, but its wet strength, breaking length and EtOH sorption were significantly reduced.

In accordance with the invention, it has surprisingly been found that a nonwoven according to the invention treated with flame retardant in accordance with the process of the invention can absorb a very high amount of flame retardant while maintaining the other important physical properties of the nonwoven, such as strength and elongation.
Thus, in a preferred embodiment, for example, at a weight per unit area of 27 g / m 2 , the nonwoven according to the invention usually has a breaking force in the longitudinal direction of more than 3.2 N / 15 mm, advantageously of more than 5.0 N / 15 mm, and preferably of more than 6.5 N / 15 mm.
Further, in a preferred embodiment, for example, at a basis weight of 27 g / m 2 , the nonwoven fabric of the present invention typically has a transverse breaking force greater than 1.0 N / 15 mm, more preferably greater than 2.0 N / 15 mm, and more preferably of more than 2.5 N / 15 mm.
Die Bruchkraft in Längs- bzw. Querrichtung wurde dabei erfindungsgemäß gemäß DIN EN ISO 1924/2 bestimmt. The breaking load in the longitudinal or transverse direction was determined according to the invention according to DIN EN ISO 1924/2.
Ferner besitzt das erfindungsgemäße Vlies in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform beispielsweise bei einem Flächengewicht von 27 g/m2 nach Beaufschlagung üblicherweise eine Bruchdehnung in Längsrichtung von mehr als 0,5 %, zweckmäßigerweise von mehr als 0,7 % und vorzugsweise von mehr als 0,8 %.Further, in a preferred embodiment, for example, at a basis weight of 27 g / m 2 , the nonwoven fabric according to the invention usually has an elongation at break in the longitudinal direction of more than 0.5%, advantageously more than 0.7% and preferably more than 0.8 %.
In a further preferred embodiment, the nonwoven according to the invention further has, for example, at a basis weight of 27 g / m 2 after being applied, usually a transverse elongation at break of more than 0.5%, advantageously more than 0.9% and preferably more than 1, 2%. The elongation at break in the longitudinal or transverse direction was determined according to the invention according to DIN EN ISO 1924/2.
It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the above-described parameters breaking strength and elongation at break increase with increasing basis weight in the nonwoven fabric of the present invention, while the air permeability parameter, described below, decreases with increasing basis weight.
The flame retardancy of the nonwovens according to the invention was determined according to the invention by the indication of the LOI value (limiting oxygen index) according to ASTM D-2863. Conveniently, the nonwoven fabric according to the invention has an LOI value of more than 75 and preferably an LOI value of more than 85.
These excellent flame retardancy properties of the nonwoven according to the invention result in the flameproof nonwovens according to the invention having a low reactivity under the action of oxygen pressure surges (BAM) and a low reactivity when exposed to liquid oxygen under impact stress (BAM).
In a preferred embodiment, the nonwoven according to the invention moreover has a high air permeability of more than 2500 l / m 2 s, preferably of more than 2800 l / m 2 s. The air permeability was determined according to the invention by Akustrommessung according to DIN EN ISO 9237.
Due to the high air permeability of the nonwoven according to the invention despite the high loading with flame retardant, the gap between the inner and outer tank can be easily evacuated at a cryogenic tank system produced with the nonwoven fabric according to the invention as cryogener insulation and the cryogenic insulating layer itself, since the nonwoven according to the invention shows only a slight moisture absorption.
The nonwoven according to the invention expediently has a surface basis weight of 8 to 50 g / m 2 and preferably 9 to 30 g / m 2, without including the additional constituents to be acted upon, including flame retardants.
The basis weight was determined according to the invention according to DIN ISO 536.
Including the applied additional constituents, the weight per unit area of the nonwoven according to the invention is expediently 11 to 150 g / m 2 and preferably 27 to 90 g / m 2 .
Due to the favorable basis weights according to the invention in a preferred embodiment, low web thicknesses of 50 to 200 microns available. This makes it possible for the nonwoven according to the invention to be laid in several layers around the inner tank of a cryogenic tank system, which in turn results in a strong barrier effect for the convective heat transport achieved by the nonwoven according to the invention.
A further embodiment of the present invention provides a process according to claim 6 for producing a refractory nonwoven comprising regenerated cellulose fibers having an LOI of at least 65 by imparting a slurry of cellulosic fibers with a flame retardant to a paper machine.
In a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention, the paper machine used is an oblique screen paper machine, which corresponds to the state of the art and is shown in the attached figure.

As stated above, fibers are used according to the invention as starting materials, which undergo a grinding were. In this case, according to the invention, preferably a fiber mixture to be used is subjected to grinding, for example using a refiner.
In order to prevent foaming of the fibers to be ground during milling, a defoamer may be added to the fiber mixture.
Usually, the defoamer is used in an amount of 0.001 to 5 vol .-%, based on the fiber mixture. The defoamer to be used is usually defoamers known in the art, for example aqueous emulsions of aliphatic hydroxy compounds.
According to the invention fibers with a freeness of 5 to 75 ° SR (the degree of grinding is carried out according to the invention in the art known manner with a Mahlgradprüfgerät Schopper Riegler), suitably with a freeness of 30 to 60 ° SR and preferably with a freeness of 45 to 55 ° SR used.
According to the invention, it has been found that when using fibers with a suitable freeness, the strengths of the nonwoven fabric according to the invention achieved by fiber-fiber bonding can be improved. Thus, according to the invention, it has been shown that the use of fibers having a suitable degree of grinding makes it possible to dispense with the concomitant use of a strength-improving binder in the production of the nonwoven fabric according to the invention. Due to the absence of a binder, the absorption capacity of the nonwoven fabric according to the invention for the flame retardant is not impaired according to the invention. This is all the more surprising, since the concomitant use of a binder is usually necessary when loading the fibers with a larger amount of flame retardants used here. In addition, the waiver of the use of binders brings according to the invention the advantage that the flame resistance of the nonwoven fabric according to the invention is not impaired.
To illustrate the method according to the invention, the method is described in detail below.
Usually, in a first stage of cellulose regenerated fibers and optionally long fibers of natural and / or synthetic origin, a fiber suspension is produced with water, which is fed via a so-called headbox of the paper machine. This essentially has a peripheral sieve, which is passed over a number of dewatering chambers.
By means of suitable pipelines and pumping devices, the suspension is passed onto the sieve via first dewatering chambers, the water being drawn off through the chambers and the dewatering line. This forms a fibrous layer on the moving screen.
The now formed fiber layer is removed from the screen and fed to a drying. This drying can be done in various ways, for. B. by contact drying or through-flow drying. Preferably, the drying is through-flow drying using hot air.
Subsequently, the obtained web is rolled up on a roll.
- 1) The addition of flame retardants can be done in the size press (aqueous solution, emulsion, dispersion) during the production process; or
- 2) Furthermore, there is the possibility of adding in the context of further process steps, eg the spray bar or the humidifier at the end of the production process. Usually, the flame retardants are applied in the commercial form without the use of water on the substrate.
The following examples are intended to further illustrate the present invention.
Commercially available Lyocell fibers of 8 mm average fiber length, which do not comprise any further fiber blends, are subjected to milling, adjusting 44 ° SR (Schopper-Riegler). Before grinding, a commercially available defoamer (Afranil®, aqueous emulsion of aliphatic hydroxy compounds) is added in an amount of 0.05%, based on the weight of the fiber.
After application via the headbox to the papermaking screen, the fleece in the size press is treated with a mixture of commercially available flame retardant (1: 1 mixture of Antiblaze® (an aqueous solution of polyphosphoric acid salts) and dicyandiamide (cyanoguanidine)) after a first drying over a flow dryer.
The amount of fiber applied to the moving screen via the headbox is adjusted so that the nonwoven has a weight per unit area of 9 g / m 2 without being loaded.
After exposure, a basis weight of 27 g / m 2 is achieved.
