Definitions

  • the present invention generally relates to a timepiece powered by a source of electrical energy formed of a battery and comprising in particular connection means for electrically accessing electrical and / or electronic components housed inside. of this timepiece.
  • electrical access to the components often requires disassembly of the latter.
  • this electrical access to the components is released by removing the bottom of the box of the timepiece. It will be understood that these manipulations are tedious and make difficult and long subsequent inspections of the timepiece.
  • the disassembly of the timepiece box is also not possible in all cases, for example when the middle part and the bottom of the box are made in one piece and the ice is welded or glued on the middle part.
  • This solution has the advantage of requiring virtually no disassembly of the timepiece to access the components, apart from disassembly of the removable cover of the battery door.
  • This solution is also advantageous in that the sealing of the timepiece box is not compromised, this sealing is normally guaranteed as soon as the closure mechanism is put back in place.
  • An object of the present invention is to propose a timepiece provided with means making it possible to easily reach the electrical or electronic components of the timepiece, these access means not particularly compromising the tightness of the part. watchmaking.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a timepiece comprising such electrical access means which do not require substantial disassembly of the part or complicated manipulations for the operator.
  • Yet another object of the present invention is to propose a timepiece which does not require the removal of the battery in order to allow electrical access to the electrical or electronic components of the timepiece.
  • the present invention thus relates to a timepiece whose characteristics are set forth in claim 1.
  • the solution recommended by the present invention thus allows quick and easy electrical access to the electrical and / or electronic components of the timepiece in that the connection means for electrically accessing these components open inside. of the battery compartment, the access being simply released after removal of the removable cover of the battery door.
  • the tightness of the timepiece is thus not compromised by the arrangement of the access means, this sealing being provided by the closure mechanism of the battery door.
  • the solution according to the invention advantageously makes it possible to carry out a test or an adjustment of the components of the timepiece at a final stage of manufacture of the part or during a subsequent control by an after-sales service for example. Substantial tests of the components and subsequent adjustments of the functions of the timepiece can thus be performed without the need to substantially disassemble the timepiece.
  • the solution according to the invention also advantageously makes it possible to introduce, extract or exchange data with the timepiece, for example to program certain functions of the timepiece.
  • the access means comprise a plurality of connection terminals disposed at the periphery of the battery
  • access to the electrical and / or electronic components does not require removal of the battery. It is thus not necessary to provide the timepiece of retention means, such as a buffer capacity, to keep volatile data during the establishment of the stack.
  • FIG. 1 a battery-powered timepiece comprising connection means, according to the present invention, for electrically accessing electrical and / or electronic components housed inside the room.
  • This timepiece generally indicated by the reference numeral 1, comprises in particular a box 2 formed of a middle part 21 and a bottom 22 made in one piece, a movement (not shown) housed inside the box 2 and comprising in particular an electronic module 3 ( figure 2 ) formed on a printed circuit 30, a dial 4, and an ice cream 5.
  • the figure 2 also shows an additional element of the movement, indicated by the reference numeral 25.
  • This element 25 is in particular an upper plate of the movement which, as can be seen here, forms a support against which the electronic module 3 is supported.
  • the structure of the movement of the timepiece 1 illustrated will not be described here in detail, as it is not the subject of the present invention and is not necessary for the purpose of carrying out the invention.
  • the box 2 and the ice 5 are for example made of a plastic material such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene known by the acronym ABS and a transparent acrylic resin such as PMMA, respectively.
  • the ice 5 is for example assembled on the box 2 by a conventional welding technique so that the box 2 and the ice 5 form a structure substantially indémontable and sealed, at least non-destructively.
  • the interested reader can refer to the document EP 0 101 663 , in the name of the Applicant, for a detailed description of a technique of heat sealing an ice on a watch case.
  • the figure 1 shows a plan view of a housing 6 formed in the box 2 and forming a battery door 7 to accommodate a source of electrical energy formed by a battery P.
  • the removable cover of the battery door 7 is not represented in the figure 1 .
  • This removable cover, indicated by the reference numeral 8, is nevertheless illustrated in the figure 2 .
  • This removable cover 8 is also made, without limitation, of plastic. We will not dwell on the structure of this cover 8, which is not the subject of the present invention. Nevertheless, it may be noted that this removable cover 8 comprises a first annular lip 81 shaped to a rim 61 of the battery door housing and a second annular lip 82 intended to bear on one side of the battery P for keep the latter in the housing 6. An O-ring 85 is further disposed around the first annular lip 81 to ensure a sealing of the battery door 7. During closure, the O-ring 85 is in particular compressed between the annular lip 81 and a substantially cylindrical wall 62 of the housing 6.
  • connection flanges 91, 92 respectively coming into contact with the positive and negative poles of the battery P are arranged in the housing 6 of the battery door 7.
  • connection flanges 91, 92 are both connected to the battery leads. supply (not shown) made on the printed circuit 30 of the electronic module 3 of the timepiece.
  • these connection flanges 91, 92 are for example fixed to the printed circuit 30 by rivets 95, 96, respectively.
  • the timepiece 1 comprises connecting means, arranged partially in the housing 6, for electrically accessing electrical and / or electronic components of the timepiece housed in the box 2.
  • These electrical and / or electronic components are not illustrated in the figures 1 and 2 , but it will be readily understood that these components may comprise one or more motors driving analog display members, one or more display cells, storage means such as RAM, ROM or reprogrammable memory such as a EPROM, an oscillator circuit (and its quartz), a frequency division chain, an integrated circuit of the movement, or any other electrical or electronic component capable of being housed inside the box 2.
  • access to the movement components of the timepiece may for example be for an introduction, extraction or exchange of data with memory means of the timepiece.
  • a programming of a memory containing the factor of correction of division rate of the division chain producing the clock signal of the movement can for example be carried out, in the manner of what is presented in the document CH 664 868 mentioned in the preamble.
  • connection means comprise a plurality of connection terminals 10, here and not limited to the number of eleven, arranged in the housing 6 at the periphery of the battery P.
  • the housing 6 is in particular formed so that the terminals of 10 are accessible from the outside of the box 2, after removal of the removable cover 8.
  • the diameter of the housing 6 of the battery door is thus of a diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the battery P to allow access to connection terminals 10.
  • connection terminals 10 does not require the removal of the battery from its housing 6, these connection terminals 10 may for example be contacted by a suitable contact tip as illustrated in FIG. sectional view of the figure 2 .
  • a multi-contact connector shaped as the housing 6 of the battery door 7, could be used to contact all the connection terminals 10 in parallel.
  • An advantage of the present invention therefore lies in the simplicity of the arrangement of the connections. connection terminals 10.
  • the movement can thus be continuously fed by the battery P, even when it is desired to carry out a test of the components or an adjustment of the functions of the movement.
  • two connection terminals among the connection terminals 10 can be contacted to feed the movement and allow, in particular, the change of the battery P.
  • Data retention means of the timepiece formed for example a buffer capacity, are thus a priori more necessary to keep in memory certain settings such as time and date for example.
  • the printed circuit 30 of the electronic module 3 is disposed in a plane substantially identical to the plane of the battery P. Unlike conventional structures in which the printed circuit of the electronic module is arranged behind the battery, the arrangement of the figure 2 thus allows a more optimal use of the space in the box 2 of the timepiece.
  • FIG 3 shows a schematic plan view of a non-limiting example of the electronic module 3 of the timepiece illustrated in FIGS. figures 1 and 2 .
  • the view illustrated in figure 3 is a view of the back of the electronic module, that is to say a view of the electronic module 3 as taken from the bottom 22 of the timepiece towards the dial 4 in the figure 2 .
  • the conductive tracks 11 lead to an integrated circuit of the movement, indicated by the reference 15.
  • Most electrical or electronic components are generally functionally related to the integrated circuit of the movement, so that testing of the various components can typically be performed through this integrated circuit. It will be understood that it is nevertheless conceivable to make tracks leading directly to a component of the timepiece, such as quartz for example, without it being necessary to go through an intermediate component of the movement such as the integrated circuit. 15.
  • the electronic module 3 comprises an opening 36 shaped at the periphery (cylindrical portion) of the battery P, and at the periphery 37 of which the connection terminals 10 are arranged.
  • test routines may be stored in the integrated circuit so as to perform standard tests of the various motion components.
  • connection terminals can give access to a serial port of the integrated circuit 15 through which a test number is sent to the integrated circuit 15.
  • connection terminals 10 As an alternative, it is perfectly conceivable to provide a decoding logic comprising all or part of the connection terminals 10 as inputs. In view of the fact that a relatively large number of connection terminals can be made in the battery door 7, this number being limited only by geometric constraints, the number of coding possibilities is practically unlimited. In this idea, routines corresponding to the various coding possibilities available can be predefined and stored, and executed automatically by the application, on the connection terminals 10, of appropriate binary signals.
  • connection terminals 10 that can be made in the battery door 7.
  • the arrangement of the connection terminals according to the The present invention is more particularly advantageous in that these terminals are all arranged in the same plane and in a small area. The contact with these terminals can thus be easily realized from outside the box 2.
  • the sealing of the arrangement is furthermore perfectly ensured by the closure mechanism of the battery door.
