Abstract

The invention concerns a hands-free apparatus enabling a vehicle driver to telephone but preventing him from using his hand-held radiotelephone if the vehicle is running.

Description

HANDSFREE FILTERING SYSTEM FOR RADIOTELEPHONES

The present invention defines a system for using a radiotelephone in a vehicle but forcing the driver to use a hands-free system.

The use of radiotelephones by hand is dangerous and prohibited by the highway code in several countries.

Hands-free systems exist but do not prevent the driver from using his radiotelephone by hand.

The same remarks apply to neighboring cases: piloting of machines or materials by a human being.

It is therefore:

- to prevent the driver from using the telephone by hand.

- to allow him and other occupants to use hands-free systems, or their phones, if the driver has cut the jammer by inserting his phone. - to allow all possibilities if the vehicle is stopped or ignition off. The current state of the art includes hands-free systems as well as interference or filtering systems for radiotelephones, but the combination of the two does not exist. Thus, for jamming or filtering of radiotelephones, the following patents filed by M.Raoul GIROD, define several systems called below "jammer-filter".

The present invention defines the architecture of a hands-free system which, associated with a jammer-filter, prevents the use of a radiotelephone by hand when the vehicle is in circulation while allowing the use of a system. hands-free and allowing the 2 modes: hand-free or by hand, when the electrical contact of the vehicle is cut off.

FIG. 1 shows the implementation of the invention in a vehicle:

- F represents the central box assembly of the hands-free system associated with a separate or grouped radiotelephone jammer-filter.

- I is the antenna which transmits and receives the signals inside the vehicle. It represents the active element of jamming-filtering which prevents hand communications inside the vehicle.

- E is the antenna outside the vehicle. It is isolated from emissions from the internal antenna I by the metal hood of the vehicle. It allows the connection of the hands-free system with the stations of the radiotelephony system, for the operation of the hands-free system and for sending the information necessary for the operation of the jammer-filter.

- C represents the electrical contact of the vehicle, which powers the vehicle and makes it possible to activate the jammer-filter when the vehicle is in circulation.

To deactivate the interference-filtering inside the vehicle, the vehicle ignition must be switched off.

- Ml and M2 represent the bases in which the radiotelephones must be fitted to operate, for the front and rear seats. A variant is possible to allow passengers to use their telephones: the installation of the driver's telephone cuts off the operation of the jammer. FIG. 2 shows the unit ML, central to the filtering hands-free system, object of the present invention.

- t represents the roof of the vehicle which separates the filtered space i and the exterior space o.

- Br represents a radiotelephone filtering jammer. This device can be of several types as defined in the patents cited at the beginning of this description or existing on the market.

- m and h: microphone and speaker of the system hand free.

- M represents the base for receiving the support (a) of the radiotelephone. M is standard in the vehicle while (a) is a function of the radiotelephone model and can be easily changed.

FIG. 3 represents the functions and connections provided by the central unit of the hands-free filtering system, object of the present invention.

- u: connection between the external antenna and the components distributed inside the vehicle for the hands-free system. This link may include an amplification module.

This function also allows the connection between the components: microphones, loudspeakers and radiotelephone R. - v: connection between the external antenna and the jammer-filter.

- w: connection between the vehicle's electrical contact (ignition key) and the filter jammer.

Either the jammer-filter is supplied, therefore started by this electrical connection, or controlled by the existence of a voltage on this connection.

- x: transfer between the jammer-filter and the interior jamming antenna in the vehicle.

In a variant, this link may be non-existent in the case where the jammer-filter is connected directly to the indoor antenna.

In certain variants of this invention, the scrambler-filter can be integrated in a single box grouping it with the central of the hands-free system. This system can be used in all vehicles or machines or equipment which are piloted, directed or handled by a human being.

For the police responsible for monitoring legislation, the fact of putting the electrical contact into action allows them to verify the existence of interference-filtering by noting the existence of one inactivation of radiotelephones inside the vehicle stopped.
