La tête de la canne peut s'engager dans une encoche de la poutre la plus éloignée de la station de réception et peut y être fixée par vissage. La tige de la canne repose, dans une zone assez proche de la tête de la canne, sur la deuxième poutre transversale du chariot, et, dans une zone proche de l'autre extrémité de la tige, sur un rouleau transversal situé à proximité immédiate de la zone de réception des poses. Pour effectuer une manoeuvre d'encartage, le chariot mobile se déplace sous l'outil inférieur de séparation des poses et une paire de barres vient supporter chaque pose qui tombe. Pour des poses de grande surface, le nombre de barres par pose peut être plus élevé. La grille non-stop reçoit momentanément les poses qui s'empilent pendant les opérations d'encartage. Un présélecteur définit le nombre de découpes par paquet et/ou la hauteur des piles. Dans les presses de façonnage connues, l'opérateur doit placer chaque barre sur le chariot mobile, viser à l'oeil l'outil inférieur de séparation de poses disposé dans la station et déplacer transversalement les barres de façon à placer deux ou trois barres à l'aplomb de chaque ouverture de l'outil inférieur de séparation de poses. La visée se fait en biais, dans une position inconfortable pour l'opérateur. Le réglage de position de l'ensemble de ces barres est l'opération la plus laborieuse à effectuer entre deux travaux.
