Bei diesem Umspulprozeß wird das Garn außerdem, wie beispielsweise in der DE 196 40 184 A1 ausführlich erläutert, durch einen Garnreiniger ständig auf eventuelle Garnfehler hin überprüft. Festgestellte Garnfehler werden sofort ausgereinigt.
Das heißt, wenn der Garnreiniger ein Garnfehler entdeckt, erfolgt durch eine im Bereich des Garnreinigers angeordnete Fadentrenneinrichtung sofort ein kontrollierter Fadenschnitt. Der dabei entstehende Unterfaden wird in einem Fadenspanner fixiert und für einen anschließenden Fadenverbindungsvorgang bereitgehalten, während der Oberfaden, der den Garnfehler enthält, zunächst auf die Kreuzspule aufläuft.
Gleichzeitig mit dem Schneiden des Fadens wird die Kreuzspule von ihrer zugehörigen Antriebstrommel abgehoben und durch eine entsprechende Spulenbremse in den Stillstand abgebremst.
Der auf die Oberfläche der Kreuzspule aufgelaufene Oberfaden wird durch eine Saugdüse aufgenommen.
