Definitions
- the present invention relates to the technical field of all kinds intended to be printed by digital printing or by screen printing, in order to produce a printed support for outdoor use (advertising posters, for example) or indoor (general posters, advertising or not, present in stores, offices or establishments).
- the present invention relates to a support intended to be printed by digital or screen printing, including a base substrate forming the framework of the support and a coating forming the coating of the substrate and used for printing.
- digital printing it is already known to produce flexible supports intended to be printed by the printing technique known as " digital printing” , commonly known as digital printing or digital printing.
- digital printing covers two neighboring fields, namely large format digital printing ( “large format digital printing” ), and small format digital printing ( “small format digital printing” ).
- printed supports In the case of large format digital printing, the printed supports have a large surface area, and for example of the order of several thousand square meters, and are intended for outdoor use.
- printed supports of this type can be posters of all kinds, such as cinema posters, or even illuminated advertising posters placed along “ billboard” transport routes, or even posters or supports intended to cover building facades or scaffolding.
- the known supports that meet this classification are generally formed of a basic substrate, made of vinyl paper, tarpaulin, grid, not woven, carpet, blind, polypropylene film, acrylic film or ABS film for example, the base support being generally coated with a coating allowing digital printing.
- Known products come in shape of rolls of variable length and for example of the order of thirty linear meters.
- coated products may be printed by the screen printing technique.
- Coated supports printed by large format digital printing or still printed by screen printing if they generally give satisfaction, nevertheless suffer from certain disadvantages linked for example to costs relatively high printing machines required and essentially their low fire resistance, even as such printed coated supports are arranged or integrated in places intended to receive from the public.
- Printed media using the small digital printing technique format are generally intended to be used inside buildings and are therefore generally of smaller size.
- posters whether advertising or not, displayed in stores, offices or public establishments, such posters can also be illuminated or backlit, or present under the form of illuminated signs.
- the printing techniques used are digital jet printing aqueous ink or by electrostatic transfer.
- the printed media used in the printing technique digital small format suffer substantially from the same drawbacks, although to a lesser degree in terms of printing machine costs to use, as well as in terms of resolution levels. It is also even disadvantages linked to the capacity of such coated supports to meet regulatory requirements regarding incombustibility or the flammability of these products, which are directly intended to be established in places receiving or in contact with the public. So, he the media intended to be printed by the technology of small format digital printing and produced from basic supports such as paper, adhesive media or films, suffer from a drawback related to their total lack of fire resistance or their low fire resistance.
- the support does not meet any fire classification, whereas in the case of coated supports, they can at best respond to a fire classification of type M1 (according to standard NF P92-503 and NF P92-507) or B1 (according to DIN 4102).
- printable media intended for example to form tarpaulins or protective cover, said supports being made from polyester fabrics coated with PVC.
- Such printable media can best meet the requirements for M1 classification (according to standard NF P92-503 and NF P92-507). Besides their insufficient or almost non-existent fire resistance of such products are likely to release a number of toxic vapors if of combustion, in particular of hydrochloric acid vapors, which does not not meet regulatory or normative requirements high.
- the object of the invention therefore aims to propose a new medium intended to be printed by digital printing or screen printing not not having the disadvantages listed above and which is likely to have improved incombustibility characteristics, while allowing digital or screen printing.
- Another object of the invention aims to propose a new support intended for be printed by digital printing or by screen printing which is able meet particularly high fire resistance requirements, and likely to avoid the release of toxic vapor.
- Another object of the invention aims to propose a new support intended for be printed by digital printing or screen printing, either likely to retain its incombustibility character before or after printing, regardless of the nature and type of ink used.
- a complementary object of the invention aims to propose a new support intended to be printed by digital printing or by screen printing, either compatible with all available printing materials.
- Another complementary object of the invention aims to propose a new support intended to be printed by digital printing or by screen printing, which can be produced from basic substrates and conventional coatings, and this for an acceptable industrial cost.
- digital printing or its synonym “digital printing” will be understood to mean any type of printing corresponding to the term “digital printing” including printing by electrostatic transfer or printing by jet d ink whatever its level of resolution, whether it is a pigment ink, aqueous or solvent printing.
- the supports intended to be printed may be also printed by screen printing.
- the substrate is generally packaged in the form of a roll which can then be cut into a flat shape suitable for the printer. he can be of defined geometric shape, for example rectangular, the coating forming the outer coating of the substrate preferably extending over a single side, side on which the printing will be carried out. Within the meaning of the invention, it is however conceivable to produce a coated support whose the outer coating forms the two opposite faces of the substrate.
- the base substrate intended to be coated will consist of fibers or yarns or mineral filaments, preferably non-combustible, forming a mass to be coated F.
- the base substrate can thus be formed without limitation by a glass cloth, by a glass grid or again by a glass-based nonwoven substrate.
- the coating forming the coating for example outside or at the heart of the substrate, will be formed by at least one printable polymer of mass E applied by known techniques on the base substrate.
- the printable polymers will be chosen from those likely to be printed by aqueous ink or solvent by high resolution techniques (from 50 to 1200 DPI and more), so as to achieve printing supports or substrates for the printing field digital.
- the layer of printable polymers may be applied to the base substrate by any known technique classics such as by coating, coating, extrusion, coextrusion, counter bonding, spraying or impregnating the polymer.
- the invention therefore consists in having selected fibers, threads or filaments incombustible minerals and having coated them with a layer of polymers printable in quantity such that the ratio E / (E + F) corresponding to the ratio of the mass coated on the total mass of the support makes it possible to preserve the non-combustible nature of the entire support before and after impression.
- the ratio E / (E + F) is between 4% and 50%, the lower limit given, i.e. 4%, corresponding substantially to the quantity minimum of printable polymers required for printing. So advantageous, the lower value may be increased to 7%, the value preferential average being around 10%.
- the support according to the invention will be free of halogenated or halogenated compounds such as chlorine, bromine, fluorine or iodine, in particular to avoid any possibility of gassing in case of combustion of the coated and printed support, and to obtain a support printable coating with further fire resistance properties higher.
- halogenated or halogenated compounds such as chlorine, bromine, fluorine or iodine
- the coated and printable support according to the invention will be able ensure the incombustibility of the support after printing with most types of ink used.
- the support will advantageously contain a flame retardant which lowers the oxygen index of the surface, intended to receive printing ink, at a value lower than that necessary for the combustion of the ink.
- the agent flame retardant will be present and / or dispersed in the printable polymer at a rate can vary from 0% (complete absence of flame retardant) to 90% of the mass of the coating, the preferred value being around 25%.
- the nature and incorporation rate of the flame retardant compound will be good obviously determined according to the nature and composition of the ink, so as to be perfectly adapted to the incombustibility characteristics research.
- the incorporation rate must nevertheless be adapted and determined by the person skilled in the art in a conventional manner to stay within limits acceptable, so as not to unduly degrade the properties of the support and in particular its mechanical strength.
- the compounds flame retardants that may be used will advantageously contain phosphorus and / or nitrogen, the compound being in aqueous dispersion or in solution in a solvent.
- the printable polymer intended to form the coating is selected so as to have a certain water solubility in the case an aqueous inkjet printing, or solvent in the case solvent inkjet printing.
- the coating may contain a thickening agent in sufficient quantity to obtain the necessary viscosity, for example of the order of 20,000 m.Pa.s.
- This thickening agent will be chosen in a manner known to those skilled in the art and may for example be based on casein, starch or the like.
- the calorific value of the printable coated support according to the invention will be less than 10,000 kJ / kg and preferably less at 2500 kJ / kg, either before or after printing, in order to meet the the most stringent fire resistance requirements.
- Coated substrates obtained in accordance with the invention are in particular likely to respond classification criteria M0 (according to standard NF P92-510) and A2 (according to DIN 4102-1).
- Oxygen lowering agent (flame retardant) :
- the dry extract of the bath is adjusted so as to be close to 26%.
- a translucent fabric is thus obtained coated with 15 to 20 g / m 2 of the coating described above, the higher calorific value of which is measured according to the NF P92-510 standard is less than 2500 kJ / kg and is less than 4200 kWs / kg according to DIN 4102-1, which allows it to be classified respectively M0 and A2.
- This fabric is then cut into 36-inch (91.44 cm) wide rolls and of variable length to be printed by inkjet high aqueous way resolution.
- this printed fabric can be used to make a poster backlit advertising.
- Example 1 is repeated, replacing the described glass cloth referenced 3695 with a glass satin obtained by weaving 136 tex continuous yarns, with a surface mass of 420 g / m 2 and referenced 969 from Porcher Industries.
- each of the faces of this satin is coated with approximately 15 to 20 g / m 2 after drying of the coating. described above.
- This fabric is then cut into rolls of 91.44 cm (36 inches) wide and of variable length to be printed by high-resolution aqueous inkjet.
- This product can also be offered in a width of 1.52 m for aqueous phase printing on a 152.4 cm (60 inch) wide printer.
- this opaque fabric printable on both sides can be used to make signage posters inside exhibition halls.
- AGS 469 varnish available at Holliday Dispersions which is a solution in solvent phase of a mixture of acrylics and dry extract 25.9% ⁇ 100 parts.
