Abstract

The present invention relates to an arrangement (1) for an espagnolette (2) with a piston hook (3) accommodated in a pivotally guided fashion by an enclosing protective lock case (4). The pivotally supported piston hook (3) is guided in such a way that it can be influenced by guide slots (7, 8) extending along the side (5, 6) of the lock case in the form of an opening in the side (5, 6) of the lock case.

Description

Device at an espagnolette
The present invention relates to an arrangement for an espagnolette with a piston hook accommodated in a pivotally guided fashion by an enclosing protective lock case, so that the pivotally supported piston hook is guided in such a way that it can be influenced by guide slots extending along the side of the lock case in the form of an opening in the side of the lock case.
Previously disclosed is an arrangement for an espagnolette in accordance with the foregoing, in which the piston hook is accommodated in a short, thick and raised lock case. The reason for the aforementioned undesired dimensions is that the whole guidance of the piston hook takes place internally in the lock case. Among other things, this means that the espagnolette cannot be dimensioned for the positions in which it would be wished to use it. ϋndesired free play is also present between the components because of the essential requirement for the components to be capable of moving without the risk of becoming trapped if guidance takes place around the entire mechanism.
SE patent number 423 421. This patent belongs to the applicant and as such is well known, and guidance takes place via slots in which transverse pivot pins are accommodated. The patent for the actual self-locking lies in this area. Shafts and pins require slotted holes, which may impose high stresses on the slots and the pins, etc., as they are actuated, with the associated risk of fracture. DE patent number 25 04 533. This patent offers a solution for transmitting the movement of a piston rod to an end piston with the help of a lock case with a guide slot. The piston has a tapered appearance to enable it to lock against a round pin. There are thus no similarities between this solution and the present invention as far as its function or method are concerned.
SE patent number 305 609. The piston rod in this patent has been bent in order to pass the wing of the follower with which the piston rod must be connected by a rivet, and in order to make space available here, the side of the lock case has also been opened up to utilize the thickness dimension of the side of the lock case. For this purpose, use is also made of the material thickness of the lock case for the piston hook by opening it up to permit transmission. Not only the material thickness of the lock case is used, however, and it is increased by an additional ca. 2.5 mm at the point where the piston rod lies outside the side of the lock case. This provides a bulky solution which is not suitable for small dimensions.
DE U patent 94 20 360. The toothed wheel of the lock case guides two piston rods completely, in that the piston rods are executed as toothed rails. They do not provide any self-locking, however. The lock case for the piston hook lies at 90 degrees to the movement of the piston rod. The lock case for the piston hook is cylindrical. Locking is effected by turning the handle, and this movement is transmitted to the piston rod. The piston rod actuates a link in the lock case (15) for the hook piston, and the sliding movement of the piston rod is transformed via the link into a movement at 90 degrees, which causes the piston to extend.
This solution is not suitable for use in order to achieve the intended purpose in accordance with the present invention, and there are thus no similarities at all between this lock case and the present invention, other than the fact that both have a piston hook, although they still differ purely in terms of their function and appearance. DE patent number 24 32 777. The piston hook (15) is executed as a taper in accordance with Fig. 5 and exhibits a very small hook. The clamp (14) holds the piston rod and the transmission (10) in place, precisely like all standard espagnolettes . The transmission transmits the sliding movement of the piston rod to the piston hook, although it is not guided by any lock case. The piston hook is entirely unprotected against manipulation. The only "hinge" for the piston hook is a shaft (23) . This in itself provides a transmission which passes around the piston hook on either side, although it is doubtful whether the solution in accordance with the patent meets the set requirements for a total thickness.
EP patent number 0 661 409 A2. A transmission (119) passes inside the lock case of a piston hook, which means that the piston hook must be made much thinner because of the lack of space. Slots in the sides of the lock case for the rivets provided on the piston hook for its guidance possess no self-locking function, and the overall dimensions of the lock case are far in excess of the dimension desired by the user.
The principal object of the present invention is thus, in the first instance, to solve the aforementioned problems in a reliable and effective fashion by simple but efficient means.
The aforementioned object is achieved by means of an arrangement in accordance with the present invention, which is characterized essentially in that a laterally extending thickening in a piston guided in a displaceable fashion on the side of the piston hook is capable of being accommodated in an elongated open slot in the side of the lock case, in conjunction with which pairs of pistons, which are capable of being connected to one another and to actuating rods, are so arranged that the laterally extending thickening in each case encloses the aforementioned piston hook for its entire length, in that each piston is formed by a rail with a centrally located laterally curved part, and in that the form of the aforementioned laterally curved part is adapted to a transcurrent slot-shaped hole in the side wall of the lock case extending in the longitudinal sense of the lock case.
The present invention is described below as a preferred illustrative embodiment, in conjunction with which reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a part of an espagnolette rail with an arrangement mounted in a lock case and illustrated viewed at an angle from the front in a locked position;
Fig. 2 shows the espagnolette rail component and the component parts carried thereon viewed in a direction from the opposite side illustrated in Fig. 1;
Figs. 2A and 2B show the rail component with the mechanism in various positions;
Fig. 3 shows a side view of the entire arrangement; Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of the assembly viewed in a direction from the outside of the rail and in a released position ready for opening;
Fig. 5 shows a perspective view of a lock case in which it is proposed to mount the arrangement so as to afford protection, viewed at an angle from above;
Fig. 5A shows an end view of the lock case; Fig. 5B shows the lock case viewed at an angle from below;
Fig. 6 shows the piston viewed from its flat side; Fig. 6A shows the piston viewed from one of its long sides;
Fig. 6B shows the piston viewed from its other long side;
Figs. 6C and 6D show perspective views of the piston viewed from its outside and inside respectively; Figs. 7 and 8 show different rivets that ε re used to connect the component parts together; and
Figs. 9-9H show different views of a piston hook included in the arrangement. In accordance with the present invention, an arrangement 1 for an espagnolette 2, of which only a part is shown in the drawings, and which is provided with a piston hook 3 mounted pivotally therein, which is accommodated in such a way that it is guided by an enclosing lock case 4 affording protection to the piston hook 3, has the pivotally mounted piston hook 3 guided in such a way that it is capable of being actuated by guide slots 7, 8 extending along the lock case 4 on at least one side 5, 6, which slots are formed by an opening in the side 5, 6 of the lock case. The lock case 4 preferably exhibits a U-shaped cross section, as shown in Fig. 5A in the drawings, and the lock case 4 is capable of attachment to an edge rail 9 included in the espagnolette 2 via pins 10 which project from the lock case 4 and are accommodated in matching openings 11 in the edge rail 9 for subsequent pressing together 10A, as shown in Fig. 4, so that the outward-facing surface 9A of the edge rail 9 is essentially flat. Other parts, too, such as securing and guiding clamps 12 for piston rods 13, 14, which are so arranged as to be guided, enabling them to be displaced in the desired direction 15, 16 along the rail 9 on its inward-facing surface 9B, can be retained in such a way as to be capable of displacement by means of pins 17, which are of a similar kind to the pins 10 for the lock case 5. The guiding means in this case is formed by an elongated opening slot 7, 8 extending on each side 5, 6 of the lock case extending in the longitudinal direction 15, 16 of the rail, in which a laterally 18, 19 extending thickening 20, 21 on a piston 22, 23 movably guided on the side 3A, 3B of the piston hook 3 is capable of being accommodated. Pairs of pistons 22, 23, which are capable of being attached to one another and to actuating rods 13, 14, are preferably so arranged as to enclose the aforementioned piston hook 3 along its entire length L with their respective laterally 18, 19 extending thickening 20, 21, although this can also work with a single piston.
Each piston 22, 23 is preferably formed by a rail with a centrally located, laterally curved part 20, 21.
The form of the aforementioned laterally curved part 20, 21, which thus forms a thickening in the rest of the straight end parts 24, 25, 26, 27 of the piston 22, 23, is adapted in terms of its depth 28, 29 in such a way as to be accommodated in a slotted transcurrent opening 7, 8 extending in a longitudinal direction 15, 16 along the lock case in the respective side wall 5, 6 of the lock case 4.
The piston hook 3, which is so arranged as to have the same function as a tapered piston and consists of, for example, heavily sintered material and is hardened in order to resist attempts at sawing apart, is pivotally 30, 31 mounted about a pivot shaft 32, which is accommodated in a bearing 33 in the lateral walls 5, 6 of the lock case. The piston hook 3 is pivotally connected by its lower part 3C to the laterally 18, 19 extending thickening 20, 21 in the piston 22, 23. A bearing shaft 34, which extends through its own hole 35 in the piston 22, 23, is accommodated in a bearing hole 36 which passes through the piston hook 3 and exhibits an elongated form.
Figs. 5 and 6 show how pairs of transcurrent holes 33, 33A and 36, 36A, intended for attaching the piston hook 3 to the lock case 4 and the piston 22, 23, extend through them at a respective distance A and B from one another in order to permit the pivotal mounting of the piston hook 3 in any desired direction so that the components can be used universally. The rivets 32, 34 and 37 illustrated in Figs. 7 and 8 are used to connect the component parts to one another, as shown in the illustrative embodiment in the drawings, and to form a pivotal bearing shaft. A connected unit thus forms a compact component which exhibits small external dimensions, but which still exhibits an enclosing lock case 4, so that unauthorized access to the contents is prevented and the total depth and width are sufficiently small to fit the majority of espagnolettes with other edge rails.
Furthermore, the thickness of the piston hook must be similar to that of other hooks that are used, so that they can operate together on the same espagnolette.
The invention is not restricted to the illustrative embodiment described above and illustrated in the drawings, however, and may be varied within the scope of the Patent Claims without departing from the idea of invention.
