Abstract

Snowboard binding comprising a base (1) intended to be fixed to a snowboard and having side walls (2, 3) connected at the rear by a bow shaped structure (4), a curved support plate (5) articulated relative to the base between the side walls at two opposed points. This support plate (5) is articulated to an auxiliary support (6) secured to the base (1) either by being fixed directly to the base or by being fixed to the base via an intermediate component. The auxiliary support is preferably between the side walls (2, 3). Greater versatility in the mounting of the support plate on the base is achieved, and the mounting enables the fore-aft adjustments to be dissociated from the other adjustments.

Description

The invention relates to a surf binding comprising a base intended to be mounted on a surf and having side walls connected to the rear by a hoop, a curved support plate and articulated relative to the base between the walls lateral at two opposite points and whose curvature substantially follows the curvature of the arch.

In known fasteners the curved support plate is mounted on the wings of the base. Such an arrangement limits the possibilities of mounting and adjustment.

Regarding the setting a possibility of multidirectional adjustment is wise, on the one hand, to adapt the binding to the shoe size and, on the other hand, to adapt the position of the plate to support the morphology and technique of the user. This second adaptation can be done, on the one hand, by the rotation of the support plate around of its bending axis and, on the other hand, by the inclination of the hinge axis of the plate of support relative to the plane of the base.

From patent application WO 93/14835 we know a surfboard binding whose base and arch a single piece and in which the support plate curved is articulated on the side walls of the base by means of two screws and nuts passing through lights to adjust the position of the plate arched support in the front and rear directions and change its position approximately around its bending axis.

Patent application WO 98/42419 describes a fixation of the same type in which the lights are replaced by two holes located on an oblique line, the arms of the roll bar being provided with several holes allowing a setting.

In patent application EP 0 749 766 is described a one-piece base and hoop fastening, in which the curved support plate is hinged to the walls side of the base without possibility of adjustment.

In these fixings, the possibilities of adjusting the curved backing plate position, provided that these possibilities exist, are limited. In the fixing according to WO 93/14835 the front-rear adjustment and around the bending axis of the support plate are and there is no height adjustment. In fixing according to WO 98/42419 the settings are also confused. We know a surf binding marketed under the JOKER brand in which the settings are dissociated. This binding includes a metal base on which the arch is attached from adjustable way by means of four screws and nuts. The curved support plate is itself hinged adjustable way on the hoop by means of screws and nuts. The adjustment, in particular the front-rear adjustment requires unscrewing and re-screwing four screws and nuts. Adjusting the headband requires also unscrewing and re-screwing screws and nuts. Such settings are not only complicated with the risk of losing the nuts, but, moreover, screws form, on the sides of the fastening, projections which may present a danger.

The main object of the invention is to provide a some freedom to mount the backing plate on the base.

This object is achieved by the fixing according to the invention characterized in that the curved support plate is articulated on an auxiliary support integral with the base, between the side walls.

The auxiliary support can be attached directly to the base or integral in rotation with the base by through an auxiliary room.

In the event that the plate position is adjusted support is provided, such an assembly has the advantage of allow to separate the front-back settings and other settings.

In the embodiments of the invention, the settings also do not require removal of nuts and screws and the fastening has no lateral projections.

The hoop preferably came from a room with the base.

Adjusting the front-rear position of the plate support can be done by moving its support auxiliary. This may be entirely located between side walls, no room or part of room does not protrude outside of these side walls. Front-rear adjustment can be done without loss of adjustment of the position of the support plate on its auxiliary support. Likewise, the position adjustment of the backing plate on its auxiliary support is done without losing the adjustment of its front-rear position on the base.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the auxiliary support has a cross member housed in a housing formed in the underside of the base or of the auxiliary part, this crosspiece being provided with two cheeks / crossing the base near the walls side of the base. The auxiliary support is thus practically entirely housed under the base.

According to one embodiment, the cross member and the bottom of the housing have notched areas cooperating between them for positioning the auxiliary support relative to the base. According to an embodiment these notched areas are centered on the cross member and in the housing and fixing includes a plate intermediate mounted between the crosspiece and the bottom of the housing, this plate having, on its face upper, at least one radial notch cooperating with at least one radial notching of the cross member for the orientation of the auxiliary support around an axis perpendicular to the base and, on its underside, at least one transverse notch cooperating with the transverse notching of the bottom of the housing for the longitudinal positioning of the auxiliary support.

Selon un mode d'exécution de l'invention, la fixation est munie d'un coussinet de talon relié au support auxiliaire de manière à se déplacer avec celui-ci.According to one embodiment of the invention, the fixing has a heel pad connected to the support auxiliary so as to move with it.

The invention is applicable to fixings without adjustment.

Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, quelques modes d'exécution de l'invention. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, some embodiments of the invention.

La figure 9 représente une variante d'exécution du troisième mode d'exécution.FIG. 9 represents an alternative embodiment of the third embodiment.

The binding shown in Figure 1 includes a base 1 intended to be mounted on a surfing, possibly via a platform allowing to orient this base relative to the longitudinal axis of the board. This base 1 has two substantially vertical side walls and parallel 2 and 3 connected behind by a hoop 4 come from a room with the base 1. Figure 1 does not the actual fixing means of the shoe. Different solutions can be used for this fixation, especially a pair straps with buckles.

The binding comprises a curved support piece 5 mounted between the side walls 2 and 3 of the base and of which the curvature matches the curvature of the arch 4 against which it can come to lean on. Support piece 5 serves, in known manner, to support the rear of the shoe, especially the user's boot.

Fixation differs from known constructions in that the support piece 5 is not articulated on the walls side 2 and 3 or on hoop 4, but on a support auxiliary 6 (figure 2). This auxiliary support is consisting of a cross member 7 of rectangular section the ends of which are provided with two cheeks 8 and 9 mutually parallel and perpendicular to the crosses. The crosspiece 7 has two holes 10 and 11 for the passage of screws 12 and 13 for its fixing to the base 1. On the upper face of the crossmember, the zones 14 and 15 surrounding the holes 10 and 11 are notched transversely to the crosspiece. On the face top of the crosspiece 7 are further formed two guide grooves 16 and 17 parallel to each other and oriented perpendicular to the axis of the crosspiece.

Cheeks 8 and 9 have an upper part thinned 18, respectively 19 defining a scope flat and horizontal 20, respectively 21 and whose outer vertical face 22, respectively 23 east notched in the same direction as zones 14 and 15. The curved support piece 5 is articulated on the parts 18 and 19 by its arms 5a and 5b by means of a screw 24, respectively 25 screwed into a nut such as the nut 26 for screw 24, this nut being embedded in a part plastic 27, respectively 28 having one side plane resting on the bearing 20, respectively 21. The support piece 5 is further connected to the support auxiliary 7 via a connecting piece 29, respectively 30 allowing to modify the level screws 24 and 25, i.e. the orientation of the axis of articulation of the support piece 5 on the support 6, that is to say to adjust the inclination of the median plane of the support piece 5 relative to the plane of the base. Such a connecting piece is described in detail in French patent application No 99 13757. The screws 24 and 25 are offset on the connecting pieces which have a raised part such as 31 comprising four lobes arranged symmetrically relative to the center of the raised area, this raised area coming to fit into a housing 32 of form conjugate of the arms 5a and 5b of the support piece 5 in four different positions.

The means of connection of the support plate 5 to the support therefore allow to modify both the level of the axis of articulation of the support piece 5 relatively at the base that the orientation of this articulation axis in the space.

The notched faces 22 and 23 of the cheeks 8 and 9 have a horizontal light for the passage of the screws 24 and 25. The faces of the parts 27 to 28 resting against the notched faces 22 and 23 are also notched. It is thus possible to fix parts 27 and 28 in different points on cheeks 8 and 9. As part of the construction according to the invention, this possibility of setting is only used to shift longitudinally one of parts 27 and 28 relative to the other, i.e. to change the orientation of the arched support piece 5 around its axis of curvature. Parallel displacement in translation front-rear of the support piece 5 is effected indeed by moving the auxiliary support 6 like this will be described later.

The underside of the base 1 has a housing 34 of rectangular section, substantially deep equal to the thickness of the cross member 7, but of width significantly greater than the width of this crosspiece 7. The bottom of the housing 34 has two oblong holes 35 and 36 for the passage of screws 12 and 13. Around the holes 35 and 36, the bottom of the housing 34 has a notched surface 37, respectively 38 cooperating with the notched zones 14 and 15 and of which the notches have the same orientation and the same dimensions that the notches of the notched surfaces 14 and 15 of the support auxiliary. At the ends of the housing 34, the base 1 is crossed by two passages 39 and 39a. Close to its ends, the housing 34 has two walls or ribs 40 and 41 extending transversely to the housing 34. The auxiliary support 6 is fixed in the housing 34 by screws 12 and 13 which are screwed in the holes 10 and 11 of the cross member 7 of the support auxiliary. Cheeks 8 and 9 cross passages 39 and 39a by their thinned parts 18 and 19 as can be see it in figure 1 for part 19. The walls parallels 40 and 41 engage in the grooves 16 and 17 for guiding the auxiliary support. The housing 34 being substantially wider than the crosspiece 7, it can be moved in one direction parallel to and around the longitudinal axis of the base an axis perpendicular to the base and fixed in different positions maintained by the notches. The heads of screws 12 and 13 do not, of course, protrude on the upper face of the base 1, but are embedded and are supported by counterbores surrounding the oblong holes 35 and 36.

The binding can be fitted with a heel pad 42 as shown in Figure 4. This pad 42 is crossed by the screws 12 and 13 for fixing the support auxiliary 6. Therefore, if we move the support auxiliary to adapt the position of the support piece arched 5 at the shoe size of the user, the bearing 42 moves with this support piece 5, from so that it is always in the correct position relative to the heel of the shoe. In Figure 4 are represented the two extreme positions of the bearing 42 respectively 42 'in solid line and in broken line.

The housing intended to receive the auxiliary support could be formed in the upper face of the base, but we would no longer have the continuity of the upper face of the base.

In the first embodiment, we note that the mounting the support plate 5 on the cheeks of the crosspiece allows adjustment of the support position auxiliary in the longitudinal direction (figure 2).

We could therefore do without the corresponding setting of crosses it in favor of an adjustment around an axis perpendicular to the base.

Figures 5 and 6 show such a mode of execution. The crosspiece 7 is provided in its center a crown 43 circularly notched, that is to say radially. This crown engages with a corresponding toothed crown 44 formed in a hole 45 in the bottom of a housing 46 corresponding to the housing 34, but the sides of which are convex so as to allow a slight rotation of the cross 7. For the rest this mode of execution is identical to first mode of execution.

According to a variant not shown the notched crown 43 could be replaced by a simple pivot engaged in hole 45 in which the notch would be also deleted. These crowns would be replaced by notches at the ends of the crosspiece and the housing.

Un troisième mode d'exécution est représenté aux figures 7 et 8.A third embodiment is shown in Figures 7 and 8.

The base 1 here has a housing formed by a cutout transverse 47 and the bottom of which is formed by a piece auxiliary consisting of a plate 48 attached under the base 1 and integral in rotation with the base and at which is fixed the auxiliary support 6.

La traverse 7 est fixée à la plaque 48 par une vis 52 et un écrou 53.This plate 48 extends only over part of the cutout 47 and, in this cutout, it has a parallel notching 49. The cross member 7 of the support auxiliary has a notched central zone radially 50. Between the cross-member 7 and the plate 48 is disposed an intermediate plate 51 having, on its upper face, a radial notch corresponding to the notch 50 and, on its underside, a notch parallel corresponding to notch 49. The two faces of the wafer 51 are also represented in the figure 8. The cross member 7 is fixed to the plate 48 by a screw 52 and a nut 53.

The intermediate plate 51 is replaced by a elongated insert 54, the center of which has a pivot 55 engaged in a corresponding housing of the cross 7. The parallel 56 and radial 57 notches are formed at the ends of the wafer on both faces of the plate. Corresponding notches are formed on the cross member 7 and on the plate 48.

The plate 48 could extend over all or part of the length of the cutout 47. The bridge-shaped part entering the cutout 47, which can be seen in the figure 8, could be a little more marked and wider by so as to form a housing comparable to housing 34 of Figure 3, housing in which the cross member 7 of the auxiliary support could be fixed to plate 48.
