Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for an arrangement within a fuel tank with pumps and filters for conveying and filtering fuel supplying an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- a solution to this problem is a generic device with the characterizing features of the claim.
- a particularly simple and inexpensive construction of the device according to the invention is achieved in that the filters, including their inserts, are firmly integrated into the housing and support parts in such a way that a non-destructive exchange is not possible.
- the filter should therefore be designed as a permanent filter The principle is that the life of the filter should be based on that of the tank in which the device is used. If the filter on a motor vehicle tank is to be replaced in such a device, the entire housing and carrier complex of a generic device designed according to the invention must be replaced.
- FIG. 1 shows a section through a filter-pump device for fuel for arrangement within a fuel tank
- FIG. 2 is a view of the device of FIG. 1 from above in the direction of arrow II,
- FIG. 3 is a view of the device of FIG. 1 from below in the direction of arrow III,
- FIG. 4 shows a view of a carrier part that can be inserted into the device according to FIG. 1,
- FIG. 5 shows a section through the carrier part according to line V-V in FIG. 4,
- FIG. 6 is a view of the carrier part according to arrow VI in Fig. 4, 7 is a view of the carrier part of FIG. 6 from above in the direction of arrow VII,
- Fig ' . 8 is a view of the carrier part according to FIG. 6 from below in the direction of arrow VIII,
- FIG. 9 shows a section through a base plate of the outer housing of the device according to FIG. 1 along line IX-IX in FIG. 10 before being fastened within the device according to FIG. 1,
- FIG. 10 is a view of the base plate of FIG. 9 in the direction of arrow X.
- a filter-pump device for arrangement within a fuel tank, for example of a motor vehicle has an outer housing 1 in the form of a cup closed at the bottom by a base plate 2 placed on it.
- the closure of the base plate 2 on the outer housing 1 will be discussed in more detail below.
- a carrier part 3 Inserted into the outer housing 1 is a carrier part 3, which is also cup-shaped and has an annular flange 4 which projects radially outward at the open end. All parts described so far are preferably made of plastic. In the exemplary embodiment described, these parts actually consist of plastic.
- a pump unit 5 with a first and a second pump is mounted in the carrier part 3.
- the first pump sucks Fuel through an opening 6 in the carrier part 3 and the second pump through an opening 7 in the carrier part 3.
- the openings 6 and 7 are connected to suction spaces 8 and 9, respectively.
- the suction chamber 8 is connected via a first filter 10 to an area outside the outer housing 1. With an arrangement of the outer housing 1 in a motor vehicle tank, this area is the tank space.
- the suction chamber 9 is connected via a second filter 11 to the upper inner region of the outer housing 1, which is designed as an overflow container 12. Fuel overflowing from the overflow container 12 enters the tank interior when the outer housing 1 is installed in a tank.
- Fuel conveyed by the first pump reaches the overflow tank 12.
- the flow path of fuel conveyed in this way is indicated in the drawing in FIG. 1 by flow arrows S.
- Fuel delivered by the second pump of the pump unit 5 reaches the injection nozzles of an internal combustion engine, for example a motor vehicle, through a line 13 indicated by a dot-dash line.
- the second filter 11 is constructed as follows.
- the use of the second filter 11 is a ring filter element 14 made of sheet material folded in a zigzag shape. terelement 14 firmly and tightly connected to the ring flange 4 of the support member 3. The connection is provided in that the ring filter element 14 is plasticized into the ring flange 4 made of plastic. The technique of such plasticizing is known per se in filters, which is why no further explanation is required.
- the ring filter element 14 is sealed with an annular disc 15, which is also connected to the sheet material of the ring filter element 1 via plasticization.
- a sealing ring 16 is integrally formed on the ring disk 15 of the ring filter element 14, which sealingly engages in an annular groove 17 in the outer housing 1.
- the structure of the first filter 10 is as follows.
- this first filter 10 is, in turn, a ring filter element 18 consisting of folded sheet material, with one end face of which is tightly plasticized into a circumferentially shaped step 19 of the outer housing 1.
- the opposite end face is tightly closed by a base plate 2 and also by a plasticizing connection.
- a latching connection is provided between the bottom of the carrier part 3 and the bottom plate 2 by means of interlocking latching elements 20 on the one hand on the bottom of the carrier part 3 and on the other hand the bottom plate 2.
- a radial sealing ring 20 is provided there between these two parts.
- the base plate 2 is connected to one another via interlocking latching means 21 provided on this and the carrier part 3.
- the carrier part 3 is anchored in the outer housing 1, since the base plate 2 is firmly connected to this housing via the ring filter element 18.
- fuel is drawn by arrows P from the first pump of the pump unit 5 through the first filter 10 and is conveyed into the overflow tank 12.
- the second pump of the pump unit 5 draws fuel through the second filter 11 from the overflow tank 12 and delivers this fuel under a predetermined pressure to the injection device of an internal combustion engine.
- the function of the first filter 10 is, in particular, to filter out coarser dirt particles from the fuel before the first pump of the pump unit 5.
- the second filter 11 is a fine-pored filter compared to the first filter 10.
- the size of the filter surfaces of both filters 10 and 11 can be varied.
- the filter area of the first filter can, for example, take up about two thirds and the filter area of the second one third of the total filter area.
