Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-pressure fuel accumulator for a common rail fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine, having a plurality of connections, in particular connections for the supply and discharge of fuel, and connections for sensors and valves, etc.
- a high-pressure pump possibly with the aid of a prefeed pump, conveys the fuel to be injected from a tank to the central high-pressure fuel reservoir, which is referred to as the common rail. Lead from the rail
- the injectors are individually controlled by the engine electronics in order to inject fuel into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
- High-pressure fuel accumulators separate the pressure generation and the injection from each other.
- a conventional high-pressure fuel accumulator is described, for example, in DE 196 40 480.
- the known high-pressure fuel accumulator consists of a elongated, tubular body with several connections for supplying fuel injectors, which are also referred to as injectors.
- the tubular body also functions as a reservoir, as well as the fuel supply and the distribution of the fuel to the cylinders.
- injectors fuel injectors
- the tubular body also functions as a reservoir, as well as the fuel supply and the distribution of the fuel to the cylinders.
- the size of the inside diameter of the high-pressure fuel reservoir is limited.
- the transitions from the tubular body to the connections are particularly at risk. Due to the high internal pressure in operation, there are high tensile stresses that can lead to cracks.
- Material stress on the rail in the tangential direction depends, among other things. from the inside rail diameter. By reducing the inner rail diameter, the material stress can be reduced or the permissible inner rail pressure increased.
- the object of the invention is a
- the fuel accumulator comprises at least one storage body and at least one distributor body which is constantly connected to the storage body.
- the distributor body can be designed correspondingly small because of the connections that are prone to cracking. As a result, the stresses that occur in the distributor body are kept low. As a result, greater strength and a longer service life are achieved compared to conventional high-pressure fuel accumulators.
- a two-part high-pressure fuel accumulator is known, but the two parts are accommodated in a housing and are not in constant communication with one another. Instead, the two parts are separated by a valve. This known solution is not about increasing the strength, but rather about improving the starting properties of the fuel injection system.
- a further special embodiment of the invention is characterized in that a biting edge is formed at the connection point between the storage body and the distributor body.
- the bite edge creates a so-called hard seal between the storage body and the distributor body.
- the hard seal has the advantage that high tightness is achieved with simple installation.
- Another special embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the connection point between the storage body and the distributor body is designed as a friction weld connection. Although this increases the assembly effort, the manufacturing costs for the storage body and the distributor body are reduced.
- a further special embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the distributor body is formed by a tube with a small inner diameter, which laterally widens into at least one area with a large inner diameter, which forms the storage body and is closed by a cover.
- the tube is preferably a drawn version that can withstand the highest loads.
- the cover can be welded or screwed to the tube.
- the connection geometries are advantageously introduced directly into the pipe.
- a further special embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the distributor body is formed by a tube with a small inner diameter, which is laterally closed off by at least one cup-shaped storage body.
- the storage body can be welded or screwed to the tube.
- the invention also relates to a set with a high-pressure accumulator described above.
- a plurality of storage bodies and distributor bodies with different dimensions are combined with one another.
- the high-pressure accumulator according to the invention is particularly suitable for the modular construction. Depending on the requirement profile, storage units with different volumes can be used. Depending on the number of cylinders of the internal combustion engine to be equipped, one or more Distribution body can be attached to one or more storage bodies.
- Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the division of the rail according to the invention into the functional areas of storage and distribution;
- Figure 2 shows a first embodiment of a high-pressure fuel accumulator according to the invention
- Figure 3 shows a detail from Figure 2 according to a second
- Figure 4 shows a third embodiment of a high-pressure fuel accumulator according to the invention
- Figure 5 shows a fourth embodiment of a high-pressure fuel accumulator according to the invention in longitudinal section.
- a high-pressure fuel accumulator is subdivided into an area V and two areas S.
- the connection for the fuel supply is indicated by an arrow Z.
- Four arrows I indicate that
- Connections for connecting lines to the injectors In the area of the connections, the smallest possible inside diameter is provided, which depends on various boundary conditions, such as processing costs,
- the amount of fuel taken up in the distributor area V is generally too small for a stable system design. Therefore, the two storage areas S connect to the distribution area V.
- the connection Z for the fuel supply is arranged in the middle.
- the connections I for the connecting lines to the injectors are arranged laterally offset to the connection Z for the fuel supply.
- the symmetrical structure of the fuel accumulator shown in Figure 1 enables a uniform supply of fuel to the injectors.
- the high-pressure fuel accumulator shown in longitudinal section in FIG. 2 comprises a tubular accumulator body 1 and two likewise tubular manifold bodies 2 and 3.
- the two manifold bodies 2 and 3 each have an open and a closed end. With the open end, the two distributor bodies 2 and 3 are each screwed to one end of the storage body 1.
- a thread 6 is formed on the open end of the distributor body 2, 3.
- a bite edge 7 is formed on each of the distributor bodies 2 and 3 and cooperates with an associated surface on the storage body 1 in order to form a hard seal.
- a plurality of connections 4 and 5 are formed on the distributor bodies 2 and 3, of which only two can be seen in FIG. 2.
- the inside diameter d x of the distributor body 2, 3 is smaller than the inside diameter d 2 of the storage body 1.
- no screw connection is formed between the distributor bodies 2, 3 and the storage body 1, but rather a friction weld connection.
- a weld seam is indicated at reference number 10.
- the high-pressure fuel reservoir shown in FIG. 4 comprises a housing 11 with a central bore 12.
- the central bore 12 is, as indicated by an arrow 13, by a (not shown)
- High-pressure fuel pump supplied with fuel.
- the high-pressure fuel as indicated by arrows 14, reaches the injectors (not shown) via high-pressure connecting lines.
- High-pressure connecting lines are designated by 31 as an example.
- the central bore 12 widens in the housing 11.
- Storage volumes 15, 16 for high-pressure fuel are thereby formed.
- the storage volumes 15, 16 are limited to the surroundings by covers 17, 18.
- the cover 17 is formed on the inside relative to the housing 11.
- the cover 18 engages around the housing 11 with its outer peripheral edge.
- Joints between the covers 17, 18 and the housing 11 can be designed as welded, screwed or soldered connections 19, 20.
- the high-pressure fuel reservoir shown in FIG. 5 comprises a housing 21 with a central bore 22.
- the central bore 22, as indicated by an arrow 23, is supplied with fuel by a high-pressure fuel pump (not shown).
- the high pressure fuel passes over, as indicated by arrows 24 High pressure connection lines to the injectors (not shown).
- the central bore 22 opens into storage volumes 25, 26 for high-pressure fuel.
- the storage volumes 25, 26 are limited to the surroundings by covers 27, 28.
- the cover 27 is butt-connected to the housing 21.
- the cover 28 engages around the housing 21 with its outer peripheral edge. The junctions between the covers 27, 28 and
- Housing 21 can be designed as a welded or soldered connection 29, 30.
- Fastening elements can be attached directly to the housing 11, 21, which is a drawn tube.
- the fastening elements can be attached by screwing, welding, pressing, soldering, etc. respectively.
