- this handle In ski poles this handle is generally provided with a closed loop strap called wrist strap, which is integral with said handle and in which the skier passes his hand to avoid losing his stick when he unexpectedly releases the closure of his hand on the handle.
- the strap also has the function of allowing better transmission of efforts, especially in the support phase on the pole, either for turns in alpine skiing, or for striding or skating step in cross-country skiing, either for skating in line or ice skating but also for the practice of sport walking.
- a wrist strap must therefore be passed so as to encircle partially the wrist, the two end strands of the loop connected to the handle passing through the palm of the hand.
- the sticks used in particular for the cross country skiing include a wrist strap which is traditionally connected to the face back of the handle. According to this arrangement, the hand rests on the strap, on the side internal, at the metacarpal bone of the thumb on the thumb muscle.
- this support achieved on a muscle is ineffective and can be painful for said muscle.
- WO- A- 92/04953 proposes a handle of stick having an L shape cooperating with the cutting edge of the hand which prevents any mutual pivoting movement of the hand by batting
- the present invention therefore aims to further improve the existing handles and offer an improvement allowing an optimized transmission of forces between the hand of the skier and the handle of the stick, in particular a ski stick, whether or not it is provided with a wrist strap, and that it is integrated into the stick or the glove. It also aims improve grip and contact between the hand and the handle of the stick by ensuring frank and powerful contact.
- the invention relates to a stick of the type comprising at its upper end a grip handle with or without a closed loop strap or strap, or integral with said handle, either integrated into a glove or the like slipping on the hand of a user and connected to the handle by a removable connection system, consisting of means of additional fastening arranged on the one hand on said handle and on the other hand on the strap integrated into the glove, characterized in that said handle comprises a fulcrum, emerging in protrusion from its side wall and able to cooperate in support with the thumb of a user, so as to constitute an additional means of axial force transmission, by said thumb.
- a stick of the type comprising at its upper end a grip handle with or without a closed loop strap or strap, or integral with said handle, either integrated into a glove or the like slipping on the hand of a user and connected to the handle by a removable connection system, consisting of means of additional fastening arranged on the one hand on said handle and on the other hand on the strap integrated into the glove, characterized in that
- the support is fixed on the handle of the stick.
- the support is substantially mobile in rotation relative to to the handle in order to best follow the movements of the hand during the impulse phase on the stick.
- the present invention also relates to the characteristics which will emerge during the description which follows, and which should be considered in isolation or according to all their possible technical combinations.
- Figure 1 shows an example of application of the invention to a stick, in this case ski pole 1 which comprises a handle 2, object of the invention, intended to be grasped by the hand of a user on which a glove has preferably been put on 3.
- said handle 2 is in the form of an element essentially cylindrical comprising a peripheral wall 2a.
- the handle 2 has a fulcrum 4, emerging laterally from its side wall 2a and able to cooperate in support with the user's thumb 5, so as to provide an additional means of axial force transmission, by said thumb 5, for a natural position thereof when the hand is closed on the handle 2 of the stick 1.
- point of support or support means here an area not necessarily punctual intended to serve as a support for the thumb.
- the fulcrum 4 of the thumb 5 extends substantially projecting perpendicular to the longitudinal axis XX 'of the handle 2, from an area intermediate the side wall 2a of the handle 2, in the manner of a crutch.
- This fulcrum 4 of thumb 5 is shaped on its upper part substantially in tiles rounded whose curve is directed upwards so as to follow the shape of the thumb 5 when the hand is closed on the handle 2 during the practice of the sport.
- the fulcrum 4 is also angularly inclined backwards with respect to the longitudinal axis XX 'of the handle 2, so as to perfect the ergonomics of the latter at the level of the thumb 5, when the hand is closed.

- a wrist strap 7 is integrated into the glove 3 intended to be put on the hand of a skier, and connected to the handle 2 by a removable connection system consisting of means complementary 8, 9 arranged on the one hand on said handle 2, and on the other hand on the wrist strap 7 integrated into glove 3.
- one of these complementary means 8 located on the handle 2 is produced in an area C in a direction substantially perpendicular to those A and B in which are obtained the fulcrum 4 of the thumb 5 and the convexity 6 of the handle 2, that is to say a zone C which is directed towards the user's arm when he grasps the stick 1.
- the complementary connecting means 8 of the handle 2 is raised by relative to the support plane P defined by the fulcrum 4 of thumb 5, so as to be substantially at the level of the mutual rotation zone of the hand with respect to the ski handle / pole, so as to avoid phenomena such as blisters due to slipping relative of these elements during their mutual rotation and allow an optimal transmission some efforts.
- a distance D of approximately 20 mm between the support plane P upper of the fulcrum 4 and the axis 8a of the complementary connecting means 8 of the handle 2 constitutes an optimum distance for different users and in fact offers the skier a preset position of the elements together, namely wrist strap 7, connecting means 8 and thumb support 4.
- the complementary connecting means 8 of the handle 2 with that intended to cooperate with the connecting means 9 of a wrist strap 7 is constituted by an immobilizing element 10 capable of being moved in a housing 11 substantially horizontal recessed in the handle 2 and into which is likely to be introduced a free end 12 of the strap 7 carrying the complementary means 9 for cooperating in fixing with said element 10.
- Said immobilizing element 10 is constituted by a slide capable of being driven in vertical translation in a corresponding housing 13, of substantially axis vertical, made in an upper part of the handle 2 and one end of which opens out in the housing 11.
- One end of the slide 10 forms a point 10a capable of being engaged in a corresponding hole 9 in the free end 12 of the wrist strap 7 which constitutes the means complementary connection thereof, while the other end 10b of the slide 10, is directed opposite to the upper part of the handle 2, to constitute a grip gripping said slider 10 in a direction of immobilization or release of the wrist strap 7.
- the housing 11 extends transversely inside the handle 2 and is of dimension and shape substantially identical at the end 12 of the strap 7 which must be introduced for immobilization.
- the slider 10 also has, near its upper end portion 10b a hole 10c intended for the insertion of a flexible gripping element 14, which is formed by a link or strap, so as not to create a dangerous rigid projecting element during the skiing, the slide 10 can then be fully retracted in the position of strap locking 7.
- the slide 10 also includes an oblong slot 10d, the ends of which upper and lower constitute stops in one direction of sliding or in the other, relative to a fixed pin 15 passing through the handle.
- Figures 4 to 10 show a grip handle 2 mounted on a stick 1 which is intended more specifically for the practice of cross-country skiing, inline skating, ice skating and of sports walking, and more generally to all sports practices in which the user rests on the stick, when the hand is closed on the handle 2, but also when the hand is not closed on the handle 2.
- This last position corresponds to the end of support on the stick 1 when said stick 1 is positioned behind the user.
- the fulcrum 4 is mounted substantially pivotable by compared to the handle 2.
- the fulcrum 4 is integral with a pendulum 100 and is positioned at the lower end 100a of said pendulum 100.
- the pendulum 100 is fixed at its upper end 100b, at the side face 2a of the handle 2.
- the handle 2 includes a pivoting attachment means 52 which keeps the pendulum 100 pivoting at the handle 2 around an axis A which is substantially perpendicular to the lateral part 2a of the handle 2.
- the pendulum 100 pivots towards the rear of the handle 2 to move away from its position along the side wall 2a of the handle 2.
- axis A is located in the upper part 50 of the handle 2, ie above the fulcrum 4, when the balance 100 is in position substantially along the side wall 2a of the handle 2.
- Physiological and comfort support tests have shown that the distance optimum between the fulcrum 4 and the axis A along the pendulum 100 was about 20 mm.
- the handle 2 comprises, at its lateral face 2a, a complementary recess 101 of the pendulum 100 when the latter is in position along the lateral face 2a.
- the depth reinforcement 101 is substantially equal to the thickness of the pendulum 100 in order to obtain a substantially continuous surface on the side face 2a when the hand is closed on the handle 2.
- the pendulum 100 and the fulcrum 4 may be made of thermoplastic material in particular of ABS or polyethylene type approximately 1 to 3 mm thick at the level of the balance 100.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a pole and in particular a ski pole of the type comprising its upper end a grip handle.
In ski poles this handle is generally provided with a closed loop strap called wrist strap, which is integral with said handle and in which the skier passes his hand to avoid losing his stick when he unexpectedly releases the closure of his hand on the handle. The strap also has the function of allowing better transmission of efforts, especially in the support phase on the pole, either for turns in alpine skiing, or for striding or skating step in cross-country skiing, either for skating in line or ice skating but also for the practice of sport walking.
To be truly effective, a wrist strap must therefore be passed so as to encircle partially the wrist, the two end strands of the loop connected to the handle passing through the palm of the hand.
However, the majority of skiers, and especially beginners, position the strap badly, which completely cancels the efficiency and the effect of transmission of the efforts thereof. In addition, in order to improve the quality of the impulse on the stick, the sticks used in particular for the cross country skiing include a wrist strap which is traditionally connected to the face back of the handle. According to this arrangement, the hand rests on the strap, on the side internal, at the metacarpal bone of the thumb on the thumb muscle. However, this support achieved on a muscle is ineffective and can be painful for said muscle.
It is for this reason that it has already been proposed to integrate the wrist strap into a glove or the like. slipping on the hand of a skier, and being able to connect it to the handle by a connection system removable consisting of complementary means arranged on the one hand on said handle, and on the other hand on the strap integrated into the glove.
Such a device has been imagined and described in the invention patent No. 2,634,388 filed by the plaintiff, and which allows by the single threading of the glove, or of an envelope / sheath adequate, provided with a connecting element to the handle of the stick, to have an adequate connection between the hand of the user and said stick, namely a connection with transmission of forces.
Such an improvement therefore makes it possible to significantly improve the transmission of forces.
By the documents WO-A 90 14136 and EP-A-0266329 it has been proposed to increase the transmission of forces by providing a pick handle having a shape substantially horizontal and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stick, cooperating with the whole palm.
Such systems were quickly abandoned due to the excessive fatigue generated for the muscles of the forearm.
A- 92/04953 proposes a handle of stick having an L shape cooperating with the cutting edge of the hand which prevents any mutual pivoting movement of the hand by batting
The problem of transmission of forces also exists on ski poles or the like. with no strap.
The present invention therefore aims to further improve the existing handles and offer an improvement allowing an optimized transmission of forces between the hand of the skier and the handle of the stick, in particular a ski stick, whether or not it is provided with a wrist strap, and that it is integrated into the stick or the glove. It also aims improve grip and contact between the hand and the handle of the stick by ensuring frank and powerful contact.
To this end, the invention relates to a stick of the type comprising at its upper end a grip handle with or without a closed loop strap or strap, or integral with said handle, either integrated into a glove or the like slipping on the hand of a user and connected to the handle by a removable connection system, consisting of means of additional fastening arranged on the one hand on said handle and on the other hand on the strap integrated into the glove, characterized in that said handle comprises a fulcrum, emerging in protrusion from its side wall and able to cooperate in support with the thumb of a user, so as to constitute an additional means of axial force transmission, by said thumb. Such a construction makes it possible to significantly increase the power transmitted during pushing on a stick also using the pushing force exerted by the thumb. Indeed, the support, being located at the level of the first phalanx of the thumb, optimizes the power of support.
In a first embodiment, the support is fixed on the handle of the stick.
In a second embodiment, the support is substantially mobile in rotation relative to to the handle in order to best follow the movements of the hand during the impulse phase on the stick.
The present invention also relates to the characteristics which will emerge during the description which follows, and which should be considered in isolation or according to all their possible technical combinations.
main d'un utilisateur sur laquelle a été préférentiellement enfilé un gant 3.Figure 1 shows an example of application of the invention to a stick, in this
Generally, said
More specifically, the
This
As the figures clearly show, the
According to another characteristic of the invention, an area B of the
The
Conversely, for a left handle, the
In this case, the figures shown relate to a right hand grip.
7 intégrée au gant 3.According to a particular application of the invention to the practice of skiing represented on the

In this case, one of these
For documentary purposes, it should be noted that a wrist strap of this type integrated into a glove is described in French patent application No. 2,634,388 filed by the applicant.
More specifically, the complementary connecting means 8 of the
point d'appui de pouce 4.Tests have shown that a distance D of approximately 20 mm between the support plane P

fixation avec ledit élément 10.According to a preferred embodiment, the complementary connecting means 8 of the
7.Said immobilizing
In fact, the
The
rapport à la poignée 2.Figures 4 to 10 show a
poignée 2.So that the
poignée 2.The
l'altitude défini par l'axe A.Of course, the
rotation.Figures 5 to 10 show variants of the second embodiment of the invention
in which the
Figures 6a, 6b, detail the internal side of the
uniquement par l'axe A.In FIG. 6b, the hand M is substantially positioned along the axis B of the
bâton 1 durant la phase d'impulsion.FIG. 6b also illustrates another advantage of the present invention as regards the
position of hand M relative to stick 1. Indeed, hand M is positioned very high
on the
le bâton 1.Figure 7 shows an improvement of the
façon interrompue.FIG. 8 shows another variant of construction of the
invention. In the preferred embodiment and illustrated in Figure 9, the
The present invention also relates to the grip handle as such.
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, which are given for information only, but encompasses all embodiments similar or equivalent.
