Abstract

The label has a base layer (2) and an adhesive layer (4) arranged on at least part of the base layer. The adhesive layer is formed on one edge of the ticket, so that the retention force in the direction of the edge is reduced continuously or in step. The edge has non-stick or less sticky areas (3), with a toothed or wavy structure, or a number of strips, to reduce the retention force.

Description

The invention relates to a self-adhesive label, in particular for automatic dispensing or dispensing with Handetikettiergeräten.

In the case of automatic or manual application of self-adhesive labels, they generally have to be removed from a material web provided with an adhesive-repellent layer. This separation is usually carried out in that the material web is deflected over a dispensing edge with a small radius and the label thereby dissolves from the web and is glued to its destination. Often, this method has the problem that some labels, especially those that have a straight edge transversely to the direction, can be removed only by deflecting the material with difficulty.

In order to improve the detachment behavior, it has been proposed in the past to modify the leading edge of the labels in the running direction in such a way that their front sides lying in the direction of travel are wavy or oblique. Such labels are known from GB 2 093 794. This ensures that the labels with respect to the running direction at the front end when deflecting the web can easily solve this.

However, the known labels have the disadvantage that the labels must have a certain external shape to improve their detachment from the web. Thus, for example, the labels with a rectangular shape or those which have at least in the direction of a perpendicular to the same arranged front edge, with the known measure not to better release properties be helped.

Object of the present invention is therefore to provide a label of the type mentioned, which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above and can be easily detached from a material web in machine or manual dispensing even with a straight, transverse to the dispensing direction leading edge.

According to the present invention, this object is achieved by a self-adhesive label having a base layer and an adhesive layer disposed on at least one side of the base layer, wherein the adhesive layer is formed on at least one edge of the label so that the adhesive force towards the at least one edge reduced in stages or continuously.

The measure according to the invention surprisingly achieves that the labels can be detached from a carrier layer with great reliability. Disturbances when dispensing the labels become extremely rare. This is presumably due to the fact that sudden strong separation forces between the carrier layer and the label, which could entrain the latter with the carrier layer, are avoided. By achieved in the inventive label gradual increase in adhesive force, starting from a very low adhesive force at the edge of the label to full adhesion, it is achieved that the bending moments on the self-adhesive label to be replaced always remain so small that this is not deflected over the dispensing edge Carrier layer can follow.

The reduction of the adhesive force is achieved according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention in that non-adhesive or weakly adhesive areas are provided in the edge region, the area and / or the number of which increases towards the edge.

The non-adhesive or weakly adhering regions are preferably provided on the front edge in the direction of the labels and may comprise only a single contiguous region or even a plurality of regions. The boundary of the non-adhesive or weakly adhering region to the adhesive layer is preferably not a straight line, so that no boundary but a transition region is formed there are adhesive and non-adhesive or low-adhesion areas. In this transition region, the adhesive areas increase in proportion to the non-adhesive or weakly-adhesive surfaces. Consequently, the adhesive strength of the label in one direction continuously increases and in the other from the same extent. The decrease is advantageously carried out in the direction of the label, so that it can be easily detached from the same in the machine or manual dispensing by deflecting, for example, a web of material.

The non-adhesive or low-adhesion region advantageously has a serrated structure. The jagged structure creates a transition region in which the increase or decrease in the adhesive strength of the label is particularly uniform, so that the label can be equally uniformly detached from its base.

Alternatively or additionally, the transition region may have a corrugated structure. This structure is also particularly advantageous since, similar to the serrated structure, it enables a uniform detachment.

The non-adhesive or low-adhesion part may extend over the entire edge area of the label or only part of it. Advantageously, at least the edge lying in the running direction during the dispensing of the label falls into the non-adhesive or weakly adhesive region.

The non-adhesive or weakly-adhesive region may, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, comprise a pattern of differently long, non-adhesive or weakly adhesive strips. The striped pattern is designed so that a transition region with a continuous Abbeziehungsweise increase in the adhesive force of the label is created. The non-adhesive or weakly adherent region may also have a pattern of non-adhesive or low-adhesion points that densify toward the edge of the label. Due to the compression toward the edge, a continuous increase or decrease in the adhesion of the label according to the invention is again generated in the transition region.

The reduction of the adhesive force towards the edge, according to a further embodiment of the invention can also be achieved by using adhesives of different adhesion, which are in several strips be provided at the edge of the label,

The self-adhesive label is arranged on a carrier layer according to a further embodiment of the invention. The backing layer is preferably provided with an adhesion-rejecting (e.g., siliconized) layer, and is preferably adapted to receive a plurality of labels. This embodiment can be used as roll stock in existing labeling equipment.

Non-adhesive areas or weakly adhering areas can be produced on the self-adhesive label by using a full-surface adhesive-coated film which is printed or coated at the desired locations with a material which partially or completely lifts the adhesive force. If a paint or a paint is used for the coating, then the degree of the bond strength reduction can also be adjusted by the application thickness of the paint or the paint.

Thanks to the invention, it is possible to design the labels in any form. Even with a straight, aligned perpendicular to the direction of the front edge reliable detachment is possible.

Fig. 1:
eine erste Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Etiketts in perspektivischer Ansicht;
Fig. 2:
weitere Ausführungsformen der vorliegenden Erfindung in Draufsicht.
The present invention and advantageous embodiments are explained in more detail below with reference to Figures 1 and 2. It shows:
Fig. 1:
a first embodiment of the label according to the invention in a perspective view;
Fig. 2:
further embodiments of the present invention in plan view.

In Fig. 1, an inventive label is shown in a perspective view. The base layer 2 of the label adheres by means of an adhesive layer 4 to a carrier layer 1. At the edge of the label, a region 3 is non-adhesive or weakly adhesive. The interface between the adhesive and non-adhesive or weakly adherent regions of the label is designed so that the adhesive force of the label continuously increases in this transition region. For this purpose, the non-adhesive or weakly adhesive region 3 may have a serrated pattern. This ensures that the adhesive force of the label from the edge towards the center in Transition range steadily increases until it finally reaches a maximum. The number of spikes is arbitrary. The more spikes are present, the more homogeneous the adhesion in the transition area. Depending on the desired adhesion, one or more teeth of the same or different size may be provided. The choice of non-adhesive or low-adhesion area is not limited to a jagged pattern.

As shown in Figs. 2 a-d, the non-adhesive or weakly adherent region 3 may have other structures suitable for providing a transition region which produces a continuously changing adhesion of the label. Thus, as shown in Fig. 2a, the non-adhesive or weakly adhesive region 3 may have a wavy structure. Such a structure also provides for a steady change in the adhesive strength of the label in the transition region between adhesive and non-adhesive or weakly adhesive regions.

Die Anzahl der Streifen nimmt mit ihrer abnehmenden Länge zu.Another possibility for achieving a change in the adhesion force according to the invention in the transition region is shown in FIG. 2b. For this purpose, a pattern of lines or strips of different lengths can be provided on the base layer 2 of the label. The bars or stripes can be longitudinal, transverse or diagonal and can be arranged both regularly and stochastically. Preferably, the strips are in the direction corresponding to the running direction of the labels when they are dispensed. The strips with the largest length are provided with only a small number. The number of stripes increases with their decreasing length.

In a further variant, as shown in Fig. 2c, the non-adhesive or weakly adhesive region 3 is formed as a dot pattern. Again, the points can be distributed both regularly in the form of a grid and stochastically. The density of the non-stick or weakly sticking points increases from the center to the edge, so that a transition region is generated with a constantly changing adhesive force.

Ein quasi kontinuierlicher Übergang kann durch Vorsehen mehrerer Bereiche erreicht werden.FIG. 2 (d) shows a further variant in which areas with different adhesives are provided at the edge of the label. The adhesive force of the adhesives decreases starting from the region 4 over the regions 4a, b and c. The different adhesive force can be achieved that the label with different adhesives is printed. However, it is also possible to achieve the same structure shown in FIG. 2d by applying an adhesive reducing agent to a uniformly adhesive coated film in such a manner that the adhesive weakness in the edge strip 4c is strongest while in FIG 4b and 4a correspondingly lower amounts of the agent have been applied. A quasi-continuous transition can be achieved by providing multiple areas.

Furthermore, the non-adhesive or low-adhesion region can also be formed by other patterns, in particular also combinations of the above-mentioned structures. Importantly, starting from the non-adhesive or low-adhesion edge of the label, the ratio of adhesive areas to non-adhesive or low-adhesion areas of the label gradually increases and an abrupt transition is avoided. Patterns and structures of the type mentioned can be produced relatively easily in existing production plants by first covering the underside of a base layer 2 over the entire surface with an adhesive layer 4 and then overprinting it with the desired non-adhesive or low-adhesion structure. It is of course also possible to produce the structures of non-adhesive or weakly adhesive regions by applying adhesive in a corresponding form selectively to the underside of the base layer 2. The labels produced in this way are particularly suitable for automatic dispensing, in particular with hand-held labeling machines and the like, in which a simple detachment of the labels from a rolled up material web or the like is desired.
