Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of Claim 1.
Powder coatings, especially those on polyester or Polyurethane base on the surfaces of galvanized workpieces made of iron or Even after appropriate pretreatment of these surfaces, steel only has one insufficient adherence. It is therefore used for powder coating of galvanized parts in addition to the normal powder coating made of highly weather-resistant Polyester or polyurethane powder one Intermediate layer, also called primer. This primer is applied directly to the Zinc layer applied and serves as an adhesion promoter between the zinc and the top layer. Known primers are water-thinnable products that usually applied with a spray gun, dried and then be thermally fixed. A well-known and suitable for zinc surfaces This type of primer is, for example, a water-dilutable product on the Basis of cross-linkable polyester and melamine resin.
The use of such a primer also requires that the Zinc surface cleaned, best degreased and wet-chemically pretreated becomes.
The known water-soluble primer is applied in an amount that a Layer thickness after fixation of about 3-5 microns results. This minor Layer thickness means that there are hardly any unevenness in the zinc surface can be compensated. In particular, the aqueous application is also the sufficient coverage of edges of a workpiece is a problem.
Finally, zinc surfaces tend to outgas. This creates in the Powder coating surface pimples, craters and blisters. On the one hand, they represent one considerable optical deficiency. On the other hand, this eases If the layer thickness is reduced, the entry of corrosive substances is prevented the zinc surface. The outgassing also means one Impairment of what is otherwise given by the powder coating Corrosion protection.
DE-OS 21 53 809 describes a method for anti-corrosion treatment discloses a powder coating on a zinc / phosphate layer is preferably applied from an epoxy powder layer. The procedure is limited to the corrosion protection of galvanized Steel parts, in particular body parts. The one in the process applied powder coating can according to the one in the published patent application serve independently as a cover layer. But it can also be used as Serve underground and in addition by an underbody protection and / or one Oil / resin mixture can be added as a top layer, these top layers can no longer be thermally fixed, but physically dry have to. The disclosed method is thus one thermoplastic coating of assemblies on the underside of the motor vehicle, that are not visible in the assembled vehicle. With this coating it is an elastic coating that increases when the temperature rises becomes softer. This process is therefore not used to produce a finish coating or image surface, is thus for example for production a final coating of a vehicle outer skin not to be used. The Powder coating is used according to the method disclosed in DE-OS 21 53 809 only the corrosion protection and is not responsible for any bumps in level the surface.
The already good adhesion of the well-known water-based primers and the Adhesion for the subsequent top coat should also be increased be, the method also for the production of finish coatings or image surfaces should serve.
The task is solved by a method which is characterized in that that as a primer dry on a powder based on epoxy applied the pre-treated zinc substrate and then thermally is fixed, the primer being applied in layer thicknesses that allow surface leveling.
It has been shown in many years of in-depth studies that this is due to Zinc surfaces in an extremely satisfactory manner solves and eliminates the problems encountered with conventional methods.
In addition, the powder primer has a more matt and therefore more adhesive Surface than the previous primer, which is a first-class primer for the subsequent top coat. The increased viscosity in the Interaction with the greater layer thickness ensures a excellent edge coverage of the workpieces and thus an increase in previously unsatisfactory corrosion protection in critical Edge area.
It has been shown that the coating with such a powder primer Effects of the outgassing tendency of the galvanized workpiece surfaces almost completely eliminated.
- Entfetten
- Phosphatierung, insbesondere Eisenphosphatierung
- Spülung mit vollentsalztem Wasser
- Trocknung.
- Degrease
- Phosphating, especially iron phosphating
- Rinse with deionized water
- Drying.
The rinsing in demineralized water is used to remove all chemicals the pretreatment, especially washed out of the pores of the galvanizing so that no chemical reaction occurs under the primer can come, especially no possibility of rusting the Primer is created.
Methods are preferred in which the powder application in the electrostatic field occurs.
Processes in which the primer is applied to a Workpiece temperature of 150-250 ° C for a time of 1-30 min is thermally fixed. Burning in here is under thermal fixation or melting the layer understood.
The primer is preferably thermally fixed until hardened in one Baking oven.
A relevant product is the Protective Primer 69/70000, for example from the company Tigerwerk in Wels, Austria. This product is for sandblasted iron and steel substrates as well as pre-treated Aluminum surfaces have been developed, however, it has been shown that he also meets the difficult requirements of galvanized surfaces and here the previously used water-soluble primer with success and advantage can replace.
Processes in which the primer has a layer thickness are advantageous of 40-200 µm is generated. This is a compensation of Uneven surfaces possible. When using conventional water-soluble primers that result in a layer thickness after fixation of about 3-5 µm, however, surface compensation cannot be achieved.
Methods are favorable in which a powder coating is used as the top layer is applied, preferably powder coatings based on Polyester or polyurethane can be applied.
The primers used do not offer any in the unprotected state Weather resistance and must in any case with a highly weather resistant Layer or a powder are overcoated.
In the overall system to be protected, the powder primer achieved improved corrosion protection through the weather resistance of the Overall, the covering layer increased significantly.
Methods which are characterized in that the Cover layer at a workpiece temperature of 200-280 ° C for a period is thermally fixed from 1-30 min.
A method is advantageous in which the primer and the top layer mechanically at least partially in their contact zone anchor. This is achieved, among other things. in the thermal fixation of the Top layer. As part of this fixation carried out in the baking oven also hardens the primer, taking primer and top coat interlock at least partially, whereby a kind of gearing or Anchoring trains. An essential effect of this anchoring is that improved adhesion of the top layer to the primer.
Due to the thermally fixed applied as a powder coating Top layer, after performing the method according to the invention duoplastic coating before. Thus, the invention is suitable Process for the production of final coatings, so-called finish coatings or image surfaces.
Methods which are characterized in that the individual process steps - from surface treatment to to the finished coated workpiece - as a whole, coherent Procedures are carried out. In other words: the workpiece should not be temporarily stored after individual process steps, but go through all processing stations one after the other, whereby before the first processing station a not pretreated workpiece and after the a finished workpiece is available at the last processing station. Thereby contamination of the outer surface or an accumulation of not desired substances prevented.
