Definitions
- Active exhaust silencers for automotive exhaust systems included at least one loudspeaker with which a phase-shifted to the noise of the engine Anti-noise is generated.
- a coupling of the anti and the noise To enable a sound coupling point in the exhaust pipe is usually in the form perforation of the pipe wall. The sound comes from the feed point for the anti-sound, for example from the point at which the Sound speaker is arranged via a resonance channel to the sound coupling point.
- Such active exhaust silencers are for example in EP 0 916 817 A2, EP 0 674 097 A1 and US 5,600,106.
- Exhaust silencer The present type must be built relatively compact so that it can be used in the Underbody area of the vehicle can be accommodated.
- the invention has for its object to propose an exhaust silencer, which, despite its compact and simple construction, has a thermal load of the anti-noise speaker is reduced.
- the resonance channel from the interior is preferably one of the exhaust gas channels interspersed housing, the housing containing the feed point Channel section is said housing chamber.
- the speaker can thus be arranged relatively close to the exhaust pipe or the sound coupling point, without an impermissibly high thermal load on the loudspeaker would be feared.
- the cooling gap forms a both mechanical as well as thermal barrier. While driving or when operating a ventilation system the cooling gap is intensely flowed with cooling air, so that an adequate Cooling is guaranteed.
- the resonance channel is U-shaped, the U-legs extending in the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe.
- one of the U-legs is penetrated by the exhaust pipe, while the anti-sound is fed into the other U-leg.
- the feed point and the sound coupling point are preferably arranged in the region of the free end of the channel sections.
- the U-legs can be arranged very close to each other due to the cooling gap between them, so that a relatively slim design of the muffler housing can be achieved.
- the housing bordering the resonance channel is preferably formed from two half-shells, the parting plane of which runs parallel to the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe and through the resonance channel.
- the cooling gap is formed by outer wall sections of the half-shells which are drawn in in the direction of the parting plane, for example by a deep-drawing process.
- This configuration simplifies production.
- the two half-shells only have to be placed on top of one another with the interposition of the exhaust pipe and connected, for example welded. Any additional, expensive to install partition walls to form the resonance channel in the interior of the housing are not required.
- the anti-noise loudspeaker can in principle be arranged within the housing described. However, it is preferably arranged outside the housing in order to further reduce its thermal load.
- the anti-sound is fed into the resonance channel through an opening in the upper housing wall that forms the feed point.
- the loudspeaker is arranged in a known manner in a soundproof housing.
- the bottom of this housing is fixed to the upper housing wall of the first housing in such a way that a cooling gap remains between the two housings, which extends essentially over the entire area of the loudspeaker housing or the upper housing wall.
- the air-filled cooling gap acts as thermal insulation. This thermal insulation is particularly effective if the cooling gap is open to the atmosphere and, accordingly, cooling air can flow through it.
- a further thermal insulation measure consists in that the section of the exhaust pipe which adjoins the sound coupling point and is arranged within the housing is designed as an air-gap-insulated double pipe. It is particularly advantageous if the double-walled tube section extends into the area of the housing interior in which the two tube sections mentioned are connected to one another.
- Electrodynamic speakers are preferably used, one additional cooling is achieved in that the speaker magnet with the External wall of the second housing is in thermal contact.
- the outer wall of the second housing comes into contact with cooling air and acts as a cooling surface, which removes heat from the magnet.
- Another way to use the magnet and Of course, to cool the voice coil is that the magnet through protrudes through an opening in the outer wall of the second housing and therefore can be cooled by cooling air.
- a central through hole is available. Because about this hole Moisture and dirt can get into the membrane back space, it is useful if this opening with magnets looking out of the housing is closed. However, the opening is preferably via a line either with the interior of the second housing with another splash-proof Air volume connected. In this way there is ventilation the diaphragm back space enclosed by the speaker cage and the diaphragm and thus created another cooling option for the magnet without that dirt and moisture can penetrate through the hole.
- the manufacture and also the assembly of the second, which receives the loudspeaker Housing is simplified if it is made of plastic. Particularly preferred is such a material that has improved sound insulation properties compared to metal having.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a section of a motor vehicle exhaust system with an active exhaust silencer 1.
- This essentially comprises one Electrodynamic loudspeaker 2, which has an anti-noise via a feed point 3 emits in a resonance channel 4, which to a sound coupling point 5 leads to an exhaust pipe 6.
- the sound generated by speaker 2 is modeled on the noise generated by the vehicle engine and such out of phase that a reduction and / or at the sound coupling point 5 The noise is changed.
- the Exhaust muffler 1 includes a first housing 7 that extends from the exhaust pipe 6 is penetrated and a second housing 8, which receives the speaker 2.
- the first housing 7 is essentially U-shaped. Is accordingly the interior enclosed by him or that formed by the interior Resonance channel 4 also U-shaped.
- the U-legs form a first and second first each extending in the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe 6 and second channel section 10, 11.
- the first channel section is from the exhaust pipe 6 enforced.
- the sound coupling point formed by a tube wall perforation 12 5 is positioned in the region of the free end 13 of the first channel section 10.
- the second channel section 11 contains the feed point 3 that of an opening arranged in the region of the free end 13 of the channel section 11 14 is formed in the upper wall 15 of the housing 7.
- the facing each other Inner sides of the channel sections 10, 11 do not border with a common one Wall against each other, but each channel section has its own Wall area 16,17, which are spaced from each other, so that in between a cooling gap 18 is present.
- This cooling gap is already at stationary vehicle, part of the heat generated by the exhaust pipe through air cooling dissipated and thus the proportion of in the direction of arrow 19 on the second channel section 11 and in particular transmitted to the feed point 3 Reduced heat quantity.
- the second housing 8, in which the loudspeaker 2 is arranged soundproofed, is fixed to the upper wall 15 of the housing 7 in such a way that between the Wall 15 and the bottom 20 of the housing 8 facing it a cooling gap 22nd is available.
- the cooling gap 22 extends essentially over the entire Surface of the wall 15 or the bottom 20 and is only from a sealing ring 23rd interrupted, the opening 14 and an opposite opening 24 in Bottom 20 seals to the outside.
- the sealing ring 23 is also used for mechanical Fixing the housing 8 to the housing 7.
- the two housings 7,8 held together by connecting elements 25, which are between from the side faces of the housings 7,8 radially projecting flanges 26 extend.
- the cooling gap 22 narrows, especially if it is from Cooling air flows through, the heat transfer from the first housing 7 to the second Housing 8, in which the speaker 2 is arranged. Heat propagation can be reduced via the connecting elements 26 and the sealing ring 23, if materials with poor thermal conductivity are used for these parts.
- the loudspeaker 2 is arranged in the housing 8 in such a way that its thermal load particularly critical magnet 27 through an opening 28 protrudes the housing 8. He is thus in the operation of the vehicle with cooling air flows around and is therefore cooled particularly intensively. Another reduction The thermal load on the magnet can still be achieved that the through hole usually present in more powerful speakers 2 29 in the magnet 27 is used for cooling. That means this Hole is not closed, but remains open to an air exchange with the atmosphere. As can be seen in particular in FIGS. 4 and 5 is the funnel-shaped membrane 31 in a funnel-shaped speaker basket 32 arranged.
- a check valve 36 may be provided is designed, for example, as a flap valve (FIG. 5).
- the check valve can also inside the bore 29 or on the inside of the magnet 27 be arranged.
- the vibrating membrane 31 produce a directed air flow 39 (Fig.2).
- the cycle is the Air flow 39 is not interrupted in this respect. That is the base area of the membrane 31, bellows-shaped fixing element 40 fixing to the loudspeaker basket 32 also does not hinder the air flow 39 since it is made of a coarse, air permeable Tissue.
- Voice coil 34 receiving gap 35 moves out, causing the magnet 27 and the voice coil 34 are additionally cooled.
- the adjoining the sound coupling point 5 and within the housing 7 arranged section 41 of the exhaust pipe 6 is double-walled, to the heat transfer in which the two channel sections 10 and 11 together to reduce the connecting base area 42 of the resonance channel 4.
- the 6 shows the first housing 7, which is composed of two half-shells 43, 44.
- the parting plane 45 between the half-shells 43, 44 runs parallel to the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe 6 and through the resonance chamber 4 or Channel sections 10,11 through.
- the two half-shells 43, 44 are each sheet metal deep-drawn parts, in which the U-shaped resonance channel 4 is about half each is preformed.
- the half-shells 43, 44 each have an edge Flange 46 on.
- the flanges 46 are welded together in the assembled state.
- the part of the housing 7 through which the exhaust pipe 6 has an inlet and outlet opening 47, 48, each of which the exhaust pipe 6 passes through is.
- the cooling gap formed by the inwardly drawn wall areas 15, 16 18 is due to the production in the deep-drawing process by a Web 49 divided into an upper and lower half 18a, 18b.
- the manufacture of the Half-shells 43, 44 can, however, be modified so that this web is omitted.
- the Web 49 can also be subsequently removed if necessary.
- the the Channel section 11 delimiting and a feed point 3 forming opening 14 having part of the housing 6 has a lower overall height than that housing part penetrated by the exhaust pipe 6.
- the upper runs accordingly Wall 15 obliquely with respect to the lower wall 21. For an area of the opening 14 loudspeakers to be arranged thus have a larger installation space Available.
- the second housing 8 is also designed in two parts; it exists from a bottom part 50 and a cover part 51.
- the bottom part 50 is - from the housing 7 viewed from - concave and has an edge Flange 52, which can be fixed to the flange 46 of the half-shell 43.
- the two-part design of the housing 8 can initially be the base part 50, as shown in FIG be fixed to the housing 7.

Abstract
Description
Active exhaust silencers for automotive exhaust systems included at least one loudspeaker with which a phase-shifted to the noise of the engine Anti-noise is generated. A coupling of the anti and the noise To enable a sound coupling point in the exhaust pipe is usually in the form perforation of the pipe wall. The sound comes from the feed point for the anti-sound, for example from the point at which the Sound speaker is arranged via a resonance channel to the sound coupling point. Such active exhaust silencers are for example in EP 0 916 817 A2, EP 0 674 097 A1 and US 5,600,106. Exhaust silencer The present type must be built relatively compact so that it can be used in the Underbody area of the vehicle can be accommodated. The compact In terms of construction, it means that the loudspeaker is close to that caused by exhaust gases strongly heated exhaust pipe must be arranged and thereby a high is exposed to thermal stress. The one described in US 5,600,106 Exhaust silencer is trying to solve this problem by that outside air is supplied to the resonance channel. This is achieved in that the housing surrounding the resonance channel has an atmosphere opening, is sucked in via the atmospheric air. The suction is done by a Cross-sectional narrowing of the exhaust pipe in the area of the sound coupling point reached. A disadvantage of this design is that moisture and dirt in the exhaust silencer can get. Another disadvantage is that the supplied atmospheric air the effectiveness check of exhaust gas cleaning systems can disturb.
The invention has for its object to propose an exhaust silencer, which, despite its compact and simple construction, has a thermal load of the anti-noise speaker is reduced.
This object is achieved by an exhaust silencer with the features of the claim 1 solved. After that are the section containing the sound coupling point of the resonance channel and an adjoining its peripheral wall Housing chamber by a cooling gap through which cooling air can flow Cut. In this way, a compact design can be used in general adequate cooling, especially of a heat-sensitive loudspeaker realize.
Die KühlluftThe resonance channel from the interior is preferably one of the exhaust gas channels interspersed housing, the housing containing the feed point Channel section is said housing chamber. The speaker can can thus be arranged relatively close to the exhaust pipe or the sound coupling point, without an impermissibly high thermal load on the loudspeaker would be feared. Between the speaker and the sound coupling point having exhaust pipe section, the cooling gap forms a both mechanical as well as thermal barrier. While driving or when operating a ventilation system the cooling gap is intensely flowed with cooling air, so that an adequate Cooling is guaranteed. The cooling air
in Verbindung stehen.A particularly compact design is possible if the resonance channel is U-shaped, the U-legs extending in the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe. In this arrangement, one of the U-legs is penetrated by the exhaust pipe, while the anti-sound is fed into the other U-leg. The feed point and the sound coupling point are preferably arranged in the region of the free end of the channel sections. The U-legs can be arranged very close to each other due to the cooling gap between them, so that a relatively slim design of the muffler housing can be achieved.
The housing bordering the resonance channel is preferably formed from two half-shells, the parting plane of which runs parallel to the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe and through the resonance channel. The cooling gap is formed by outer wall sections of the half-shells which are drawn in in the direction of the parting plane, for example by a deep-drawing process. This configuration simplifies production. The two half-shells only have to be placed on top of one another with the interposition of the exhaust pipe and connected, for example welded. Any additional, expensive to install partition walls to form the resonance channel in the interior of the housing are not required. The anti-noise loudspeaker can in principle be arranged within the housing described. However, it is preferably arranged outside the housing in order to further reduce its thermal load. The anti-sound is fed into the resonance channel through an opening in the upper housing wall that forms the feed point. The loudspeaker is arranged in a known manner in a soundproof housing. In a preferred embodiment, the bottom of this housing is fixed to the upper housing wall of the first housing in such a way that a cooling gap remains between the two housings, which extends essentially over the entire area of the loudspeaker housing or the upper housing wall. The air-filled cooling gap acts as thermal insulation. This thermal insulation is particularly effective if the cooling gap is open to the atmosphere and, accordingly, cooling air can flow through it. A further thermal insulation measure consists in that the section of the exhaust pipe which adjoins the sound coupling point and is arranged within the housing is designed as an air-gap-insulated double pipe. It is particularly advantageous if the double-walled tube section extends into the area of the housing interior in which the two tube sections mentioned are connected to one another.
Electrodynamic speakers are preferably used, one additional cooling is achieved in that the speaker magnet with the External wall of the second housing is in thermal contact. The outer wall of the second housing comes into contact with cooling air and acts as a cooling surface, which removes heat from the magnet. Another way to use the magnet and Of course, to cool the voice coil is that the magnet through protrudes through an opening in the outer wall of the second housing and therefore can be cooled by cooling air. In this embodiment there is a soundproofing seal between the opening edge and the magnet or the speaker basket expedient.
Especially with powerful electrodynamic loudspeakers is in the magnet a central through hole is available.
The manufacture and also the assembly of the second, which receives the loudspeaker Housing is simplified if it is made of plastic. Particularly preferred is such a material that has improved sound insulation properties compared to metal having.

Wärmemenge reduziert.2, 3 and 6 to 9 show concrete configurations of an exhaust silencer.
The basic structure is first explained with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3. The
Exhaust muffler 1 includes a
The
The
The adjoining the
6 to 9 show a practical design of an exhaust silencer 1 represented with different intermediate production stages.
Die in Strömungsrichtung 9, also in Fahrtrichtung 53 weisende Stirnwand
(Fig.2).
durchgreifen.6 shows the
If the
An upper wall area of the
