Claims (5)

  1. Method for shrinking a flexible sleeve formed by a film made of heat-shrinkable plastic material covering a palettized load, and consisting:
    in propelling hot air into an annular heating zone around the sleeve (2) by means of a hot air generator mounted on a moving carriage (16),
    and in positioning an extensible hood (7) above the palettized load (1) to confine the hot air during the heating and shrinking phases of the sleeve (2),
    characterized in that the hot air is channeled against the sleeve (2) slowing down the natural convection effect by adjustment of a first outlet opening (9) arranged in the top part of the hood (7), and by a space arranged between the hood (7) and a retraction frame (4) mounted on the mobile carriage (16), flow of the hot air taking place via a first outlet path through the first opening (9) at the top part, and via a lateral second outlet path through a second opening (20) located near to said space.
  2. The method for shrinking a flexible sleeve according to claim 1, characterized in that the air flow of the first outlet path is adjustable by modifying the first top opening (9) according to the surface of the heat-shrinkable sleeve (2) to be heated and to the nature of the packaged products.
  3. Machine for shrinking a flexible sleeve formed by a film made of heat-shrinkable plastic material covering a palettized load (1), and comprising:
    means for bringing and removing the palettized loads,
    means for producing and distributing hot air having a hot air generator and a retraction frame (4) mounted on a moving carriage (16) in the vertical direction,
    and means for recovering hot air comprising a flexible hood (7),
       characterized in that
    the hood (7) comprises a top part securedly attached to a first plate (8) of the fixed frame (5), and a bottom part secured to a second mobile plate (6) which is joined to the retraction frame (4) by spacers (17),
    a first opening (9) is arranged in the top part of the hood (7) to create a first path for outlet of the hot air,
    and a second opening (20) is located in the space between the hood (7) and the hot air generator to create a second path for outlet of the hot air.
  4. Machine according to claim 3, characterized in that the first top opening (9) of the hood (7) is adjustable in cross-section by a manually-operated closing flap (10).
  5. Machine according to claim 3, characterized in that the first top opening (9) of the hood (7) is automatically adjustable by a motorized actuator, for example a pneumatic, hydraulic or electric jack.
