Um das Abschmieren von Papierbögen an der Übergabetrommel zu verhindern, wird beispielsweise mit Hilfe von Blasluft, die durch Luftaustrittsöffnungen im Trommelmantel strömt, ein Luftpolster auf der Trommeloberfläche aufgebaut (DE 4 434 778).
Beim Transport von Kartonbögen ist diese Lösung jedoch mit intensivem Einsatz von Blasluft und damit hohen Betriebskosten verbunden und für dickere Kartonsorten nicht mehr geeignet.
Insbesondere für die abschmierfreie Führung biegesteifer Kartonbögen sind deshalb zur Schaffung der benötigten Freiräume für den Bogen anstelle eines zylindrischen Trommelmantels sekantenartig angeordnete Bogenleitbleche aus der EP 230 032 bekannt. Die darin beschriebene Übergabetrommel kann auf die Verarbeitung von Papier umgerüstet werden, indem zusätzliche Bogentragelemente in den Trommelmantel eingefügt werden. Nachteilig wirkt sich dabei aus, dass der Umrüstaufwand infolge manueller Montagearbeiten recht hoch ist und die für den Papiertransport modifizierte Trommel durch das Fehlen eines äußeren Luftpolsters nicht die für jeden Anwendungsfall ausreichende Sicherheit gegen Abschmieren bietet.

Damit kann dieselbe Übergabetrommel bei nach außen geschwenkten Trommelkappen mit Luftpolster vorzugsweise für den Transfer von Papier und mit nach innen geschwenkten Trommelkappen ohne Luftpolster vorzugsweise für biegesteifen Karton eingesetzt werden.

Die erfindungsgemäße Übergabetrommel kann im Einzelnen wie in Fig. 1 dargestellt aussehen.
An einem drehbaren Trommelkörper 10 sind Seitenteile 1 befestigt, die jeweils auf ihrer Innenseite einen am Umfang verlaufenden Anschlag 2 für zwei schwenkbare Trommelkappen 3 aufweisen, der gleichzeitig die Abdichtung zwischen Trommelkappen 3 und Seitenteilen 1 übernimmt.
Die Trommelkappen 3 besitzen Luftaustrittsöffnungen und sind jeweils an ihren in Bogenlaufrichtung gesehen vorderen Kanten drehbar an diametral gegenüberliegenden Trommelkappengelenken 14 am Trommelkörper 10 gelagert und werden mit Hilfe zweier Pneumatikzylinder 8 entweder in eine ausgeschwenkte äußere Position 3a (Volllinien) oder eine eingeschwenkte innere Position 3b (Strichpunktlinien) bewegt. Die Pneumatikzylinder 8 sind dazu unterhalb der Greiferbrücken 9 am Trommelkörper 10 befestigt und greifen mit den Kolbenstangenköpfen in entsprechende Gelenke 16 auf den jeweiligen Trommelkappenunterseiten ein.
An den Hinterkanten 11 der Trommelkappen 3 befinden sich die erfindungsgemäßen Klappen 4. Sie sind über seitlich angebrachte Rollen 6 in Führungsbahnen 7 an den Trommelkappenunterseiten tangential verschiebbar gelagert und über ein Scharnierband 5 mit Blechen 12 verbunden, die im Bereich der Greiferbrücken 9 am Trommelkörper 10 angesetzt sind.
Für den Transport von Papierbögen werden die zwei Trommelkappen 3 in die äußere Position 3a ausgeschwenkt. Die Seitenteile 1 der Übergabetrommel, die schwenkbaren Trommelkappen 3, die Klappen 4 und die Bleche 12 bilden in dieser Position zwei nach außen geschlossene Trommelinnenräume, die durch geeignete Luftversorgungssysteme 15 mit Luftüberdruck beaufschlagt werden können. Zur Verringerung unerwünschter Druckverluste befinden sich an den nach innen abgewinkelten Kappenhinterkanten 11 Dichtungsprofile 13, an denen die Klappen 4 in ausgeschwenkter Position 4a anliegen.
Vorzugsweise für den Transport biegesteifer Kartonbögen werden die Trommelkappen 3 pneumatisch nach innen bis an die Bleche 12 geschwenkt (3b) und vergrößem dadurch den zur Entspannung des Bogens benötigten Freiraum zwischen Bogen und Trommelkappe 3.
