Abstract

I.C. engine (3) has a fuel tank (8) and a supply device (7) for a combustion medium which is fed to a combustion chamber (4a) of the engine as fuel and air and expelled into an exhaust gas line (2) connected to the combustion chamber. An oxidation catalyst (17) and a particle filter (18) are arranged in the exhaust gas line (2) in the flow direction (16). A feed device (12) feeds an additive that reduces the ignition temperature of the particles to the combustion medium after the fuel has left the tank and before the combustion medium reaches the particle filter. An Independent claim is also included for a process for reducing harmful components in I.C. engine exhaust gas.
