Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an automatic fire extinguishing device occurring on a railway train.
Le secteur technique de l'invention est celui de la lutte contre les incendies à bord d'un convoi ferroviaireThe technical field of the invention is that of the fight against fires aboard a railway convoy
Patent Application GB 2,139,495 A (Total Walther Feuerschutz) describes an automatic fire protection device for vehicles equipped with a compressed air system which is particularly adapted to equip an underground train made up of several hitched passenger cars. . The device comprises a tank, common to several cars, which contains an extinguishing material under pressure of air and a pipe connecting this tank to sprinklers (sprinklers). The compressed air contained in the reservoir comes from the compressed air circuit fitted to the vehicle, in particular the braking circuit. A supply duct of the compressed air tank is equipped with a non-return valve to ensure automatic filling of said tank with compressed air. The extinguishing material transport pipeline (consisting of salt water) is divided into several branches, feeds the sprinklers of the various vehicles of the train and has a flexible connection between two vehicles.
Ce système comporte des inconvénients .This system has drawbacks.
First of all, the use of compressed air as the sole means of propelling the extinguishing liquid is not compatible with a tank of sufficient capacity to ensure effective operation of the fire-fighting device. Such a tank, resistant to the pressure required, is, in addition, too large a space to be implanted in a passenger vehicle. Then, the use of the compressed air of the braking circuit is likely to seriously disturb the operation of said circuit, mainly by excessive withdrawal of compressed air: it is indeed impossible to predict in advance how many sprinklers 'will open, therefore what will be the flow of water, so air.
Un autre inconvénient est le risque d'indisponibilité de l'ensemble du dispositif anti-incendie en cas d'avarie du circuit de freinage, par exemple à la suite d'accident à l'origine de l'incendie ou consécutif à celui-ci.Another disadvantage is the risk of unavailability of the entire fire protection device in the event of damage to the braking circuit, for example as a result of an accident at the origin of the fire or subsequent thereto .
Likewise, it is incompatible with the desired result the commissioning of an additional compressor (see claim 11), the air flow rate at high pressure should be at least equal to the total flow of all sprinklers in use.
It is also described in the article entitled "6 new SBB TES compositions" published in the Swiss Firefighters' Journal (N ° 7/96 pp.538-543) a tanker truck for a railway convoy that includes a tank, suitable for receiving a fire-fighting fluid, which is mounted on or integrated into a chassis equipped with bogies comprising at least one pump connected to the tank to be able to suck the fluid and connected to duct portions to be able to repress this fluid .
But such a wagon does not ensure a high degree of availability and performance ability in the fight against fire on board rail convoys.
In railway matters, the use of spare trains including, with other elements, a tank-pump car armed with fire hoses and used by crews of servants in approach to a disaster convoy is known.
However, the development of piggyback transport, especially that using tunnels, over great distances, raises the question of better safety of convoys and the advisability of having new onboard fire extinguishing equipment.
Indeed, the installation in railway tunnels fixed sprinklers on the walls of the structure is operational only during the crossing of it and requires a complex procedure of sequential interventions (detection, localization, stop of the convoy) before the sprinklers are put into action. Even if, despite its cost in a long tunnel, there is continuous coverage and sufficient footprint, there is inevitably a delay important to attack the fire and therefore a significant risk of its extension.
As an example of onboard fire extinguishing equipment, reference will be made, for example, to documents EP-522 671-A: it relates to a wagon for the transport of one or more road vehicles, which comprises a duct extending in the longitudinal direction of the wagon and supplying a spraying installation.
However, such a device does not ensure that the conduit is folded fire fighting fluid: the fight against a fire could therefore start with delay.
The present invention aims to provide a simple device to build, maintain and use, which overcomes the disadvantages mentioned above and whose availability, power and efficiency are adapted to the particular risk of a fire on board of a railway convoy on the move.
The objective of the invention is to implement on a set of vehicles traveling in a convoy, mainly on railroad tracks, means for acting on a fire pit, nascent or underdeveloped, that would occur or develop on said convoy and extinguish or circumscribe it, even while the convoy is proceeding, before any other intervention outside the convoy is possible.
The objects of the present invention as well as others which will appear thereafter, are achieved by a railway car tank wagon, which comprises a tank, adapted to receive a fire-fighting fluid, which is mounted on or integrated in a chassis equipped with bogies, where at least one pump is provided, connected to the tank, to be able to suck up said fluid, and connected to duct portions to be able to discharge said fluid through said duct portions, which tank car is characterized, according to the present invention, in that it comprises two transport pipe portions of said fluid, respectively extending to each of the two longitudinal ends of the frame or wagon, connected to the tank and terminated by a connecting device, through which the pipe portions under pressure of a fluid are connected to a pipe, extending longitudinally and belonging to a nearby wagon or a nearby car.
Advantageously, this wagon comprises two pumps each driven by a heat engine, and connected to the two duct portions to allow each pump to deliver the extinguishing liquid under pressure to either of the two end ducts to feed the part of the convoy situated in front of or behind the tank car, or to both portions of the duct simultaneously to feed both the parts of the convoy arranged upstream or downstream, and in which said duct portions are in flexible parts .
De préférence, la capacité de la citerne est supérieure à 10 m2.Preferably, the capacity of the tank is greater than 10 m 2 .
Advantageously, this wagon also comprises an air booster capable of pressurizing the tank.
The present invention also relates to a railway train which is characterized in that it comprises a tank car as above and at least one car or car coupled to the tank car, directly or indirectly, which comprises a longitu-dinal pipeline extending over the entire length of the wagon or car and terminated at each end by a connecting device to allow its connection, either to a longitudinal pipe of an adjacent wagon or car, or to one of the portions of end pipe of the tank car.
Preferably, this convoy comprises a road vehicle transport wagon equipped with said longitudinal pipe and provided with secondary pipes connected to the main pipe to deliver the extinguishing liquid to sprinklers mounted on the vehicle transport wagon.
Advantageously, the vehicle carrier wagon comprises a bodywork frame which has walls and a roof, and comprises a row of sprinklers immediately placed under the roof. This row of sprinklers can also be placed in the median longitudinal axis of the roof.
Preferably the vehicle carrier wagon comprises a section of pipe which is connected to the pipe of the wagon and which is terminated by a connection orifice to a sprinkler system integrated into the road transport vehicle and the section is extended by a flexible pipe connection to the network.
Finally, the present invention also relates to a wagon for transporting one or more road vehicles, comprising a longitudinal pipe supplying a sprinkler installation: this pipe extends over the entire length of the wagon and ends at each end by a connecting device through which the pipe is connected, where appropriate by a longitudinally extending pipe belonging to at least one adjacent car or a neighboring car, to one of the end pipe placed under the pressure of a fluid of a tank car: in addition this pipe has secondary pipes connected to the main pipe, for delivering the extinguishing liquid to sprinklers mounted on the vehicle transport car.
Advantageously, this wagon has a body frame which has walls and a roof, and comprises a row of sprinklers placed immediately under the roof. This row of sprinklers is placed in the median longitudinal axis of the roof.
Preferably in this case, this wagon comprises a section of pipe which is connected to the pipe of the wagon and which is terminated by a connection port to a sprinkler system integrated in the road transport vehicle.

longitudinal pipe 7 and downstream (side discharge) 7/8 bypass piping on which acheck valve 7a prohibits the return of the extinguishing liquid from 8 to 6 but allows its passage in the opposite direction. Each front and rear portion of thepipe 7 extends downstream of thebypass loop 7/8 and through the valves 27a to anend device 9 for its connection to another pipe. Apipe 7b connects the two by-pass loops 7/8 front and rear through the valve 7c. An assembly according to the example above allows isolation or on the contrary the trivialization of the front and rear equipment of the tank-wagon. The energy required for the operation of the motor-booster is drawn from a source independent of that used for the operation of the convoy, for example a heat engine.
- a reservoir 2, which is at least partially filled with extinguishing

The device according to the invention also applies to road transport vehicles closed goods (vans) F1 and F2 transported by said convoy C and having means for sprinkling the interior in the case where a fire occurs there.
In a first preferred embodiment, said F1 vans comprise a sunroof longitudinally by means of known devices (not shown) and preferably in its
In a second embodiment, the
The
The advantage of equipping the transported vehicles with these complementary means is to considerably increase the efficiency of the device according to the invention by attacking an incipient fire in the enclosure of a closed van, even before said fire has been declared outside the van.
In a preferred embodiment of formation of a railway train protected against fire by a device according to the invention, the tank-pump car or wagons are placed substantially in the middle Y of the convoy C, as shown in FIG. 6.
As in the case of a previously known type of installation, it is put into working order by prior filling of the main pipes, secondary pipes, branched networks supplying sprinklers with thermo-fuse sealing, as well as the tank (tank). 2.
In a preferred procedure, it reserves in it the appropriate volume for it to be compressed, above the surface of the extinguishant liquid, of the air in such a quantity that all of the liquid is possibly expelled with a pressure residual sufficient to maintain a minimum efficiency sprinklers in case of failure of the motor-booster.
- have a proven reservoir for use at the initial operating pressure,
- the precaution of filling, at least downstream of the motor-boosters, all the pipes with an extinguishing liquid containing an antifreeze product,
- or equipping said heating pipes or any other means of protection against freezing.
In another preferred mode of operation, the valve 27a of the wagon 1, motorized, is closed in the standby position and all the
Of course, the combination of these different arrangements is possible, for example by placing heaters on the
In an alternative embodiment, a
The convoy thus protected against fire by the device according to the invention then normally circulates by conveying its own automatic extinction device.
In the event of a fire (fire) the process is substantially the same as that of existing fixed installations. Independently of the pressure drop caused in the installation by the fusion of a
In a preferred complementary process, the triggering, even localized, of the
Deflectors (not shown) of profile and orientation adapted to the configuration of the convoy protect the sprinklers from the wind effect in case of triggering the device during the course of the convoy.
The operation of the air-booster 5 AV and / or 5 AR is automatically triggered by the pressure drop following the opening of at least one
If the convoy transports road vehicles equipped with a particular type F2 network described above, said network is connected, for the duration of the transport, through the
In both cases, the sprinklers are in operation even before the fire spreads outside the vans.
Given a load limit of at least 20 tonnes per axle and its empty weight, a tank-tank car can carry 50 to 60 tonnes of extinguishing liquid, ie substantially 60 m 3 constituting a reserve capable of 5 d supply, for comparison, two large fire hoses (20 m 3 / h X 2) for +/- 90 minutes.
In the exceptional case of extending the fire on an entire truck carrier with a plateau area of approximately 80 m 2 , the said reserve ensures, with a flow rate of 25 1 / m 2 / min, (+/- 120 m 3 / h) a so-called "deluge" operating autonomy lasting about 30 minutes, thus allowing sufficient time for the routing and putting into action of additional external emergency means to the disaster convoy.
- less than 1% of the total weight of a truck carrier carrying the fire-fighting equipment of the said wagon.
- between 20 and 50 kw the power required for the operation of each motor pump.
