    6. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that each connecting element (25, 125) has a woven fabric (29) of electrically insulating threads, and in that the or each sensor element (31, 131) is arranged in the woven fabric (29).
    7. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the Venetian blind (13, 113) has at least two loops (24) which are a distance apart along the slats (16, 116) and have two strands which are opposite one another and each of which forms a connecting element (25, 125), in that the connecting elements (25, 125) of at least two of the loops (24) are provided with sensor elements (31, 131, 161, 171, 181) together likewise forming a loop, the sensor elements (31, 131) preferably being connected to one another in series and preferably all connecting elements (25, 125) being provided with a sensor element (31, 131, 161, 171, 181) and/or being formed by such a sensor element.
    8. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the monitoring means (35) are arranged at least in part in and/or on the Venetian blind (13, 113), and in that the Venetian blind is provided with at least one battery (41) which is connected to the monitoring means (35).
    9. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the Venetian blind (13, 113) has, at the second end (15), a hollow, elongated end member (18) which contains at least a part of the monitoring means (35) and the at least one battery (41) and is provided with at least one acoustic and/or optical signal generator (38, 39) and possibly with a signal generator (40) for wireless transmission of an alarm signal to an alarm apparatus (43) a distance away from the protective member.
    10. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the monitoring means (35, 135) have a semiconductor switch (45) which is formed in such a way that it changes from a blocking state to a conducting state when the conducting connection is broken.
    11. Device according to Claim 10, characterized in that the monitoring means (35, 135) are connected to at least one battery (41) in order to supply the monitoring means (35, 135) with electrical current, and in that the semiconductor switch (45) has a Darlington transistor circuit (46) which is connected, for example, to a coil of a relay (49) which has a normally open contact in order to connect the or a battery (41) to at least one signal generator (38, 39, 40) for generating an alarm signal, the sensor element or elements (31, 131, 161) and the interruption detector (36), in the blocking state of the Darlington transistor circuit (46), consuming altogether an electrical current which is preferably not more than 10 µA and, for example, not more than 3 µA.
    12. Device according to any of Claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the monitoring means (35, 135) have an interruption detector (36) for determining an interruption of the or of at least one sensor element (31, 131, 171, 161, 181) and a test interrupter (37) for temporarily interrupting the or at least one sensor element (31, 131, 171, 161, 181) and/or a connection connecting this to the interruption detector (36) for a function test of the monitoring means (35, 135), the interrupter (37) having, for example, an electrical switching contact which can be actuated magnetically from the environment of the test interrupter (37).
