Claims (6)

  1. Method of removing slugs (24) or similar waste material produced during a piercing operation from a workpiece (10) in the form of a hollow section subjected to high internal pressure generated by a fluid action medium, the nose (20) of a piercing punch (18) guided in a guide channel (16) of a die (14) being retracted from the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) in the guide channel (16) at a distance from the surface of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) being fed out of the workpiece (10) by the internal pressure, after which the piercing punch (18) and the adjacent slug (24) are moved further away from the surface (12) of the die in the pressure direction of the action medium, characterised in that the nose (20) of the punch is first retracted into the guide channel in the form of a guide bore (16) against the pressure direction (x) of the piercing punch (18) approximately by the amount of the thickness (a) of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) situated in the top half of the tool is fed to a collecting device (28) by the piercing punch (18) in the pressure direction (x) thereof.
  2. Method of removing slugs (24) or similar waste material produced during a piercing operation from a workpiece (10) in the form of a hollow section subjected to high internal pressure generated by a fluid action medium, the nose (20) of a piercing punch (18) guided in a guide channel (16) of a die (14) being moved from the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) in the guide channel (16) at a distance from the surface of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) being fed out of the workpiece (10) by the internal pressure, characterised in that the nose (20) of the punch is first introduced into the workpiece (10) against the pressure direction of the action medium approximately by the amount of the thickness (a) of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) is removed from the workpiece (10) therewith at a distance from the surface (12) of the die, after which the piercing punch (18) arranged in a guide bore (16) serving as the guide channel and the slug (24) are guided in the opposite direction. i.e. in the pressure direction (x), the slug (24) situated in the bottom half of the tool being lifted off the piercing punch (18), extracted by a suction device (30) and pressed out of its recess (22) by an ejector.
  3. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the slug (24) is conveyed to the collecting device (28) by the force of gravity.
  4. Device for removing slugs (24) or similar waste material produced during a piercing operation from a workpiece (10) in the form of a hollow section subjected to high internal pressure generated by a fluid action medium, wherein the nose (20) of a piercing punch (18) guided in a guide channel (16) of a die (14) can be retracted from the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) in the guide channel (16) at a distance from the surface of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) can be fed out of the workpiece (10) by the internal pressure, for carrying out the method according to claim 1, characterised in that the guide channel in the form of a guide bore (16) is arranged in a top die (14), that at least one collecting device (28) is associated with the piercing punch (18) guided in the guide bore (16) opposite the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) below the guide bore serving as the region (22) of the workpiece (10) releasing the slug (24), and that the collecting device is a collecting trough (28).
  5. Device for removing slugs (24) or similar waste material produced during a piercing operation from a workpiece (10) in the form of a hollow section subjected to high internal pressure generated by a fluid action medium, wherein the nose (20) of a piercing punch (18) guided in a guide channel (16) of a die (14) can be retracted from the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) in the guide channel (16) at a distance from the surface of the workpiece (10) and the slug (24) can be fed out of the workpiece (10) by the internal pressure, for carrying out the method according to claim 2, characterised in that the guide channel in the form of a guide bore (16) is arranged in a bottom die (14t), and that at least one suction device (30) is associated with the piercing punch (18) guided therein opposite the surface (12) of the die bearing against the workpiece (10) above the guide bore serving as the region (22) of the workpiece (10) releasing the slug (24).
  6. Device according to claim 4 or claim 5, characterised in that the collecting device (28) or the suction device can automatically be positioned in front of the recess (22) releasing the slug (24).
