Definitions
- the present invention relates to an assembly for detecting the state of estrus in dairy cows. More particularly, the invention relates to such
- FR 2 432 300 describes an apparatus indicating the heat periods of mammals, including cows, by determining the milk temperature of the cow.
- EP 0 705 536 describes a motion sensor dependent on the position of the cows.
- cows When they are in the state of oestrus, the cows present an activity increased. In particular, they tend to overlap each other.
- US-A-3,844,273, US-A-5,542,431, US-A-4,635,587, and EP-A-0 263 629 disclose a device comprising a detector on a support carried by the cow, usually attached to the rump of the animal.
- US-A-5 542 431 discloses a device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- US-A-5,111,799 discloses a device for detecting oestrus in cows and other animals implanted under the skin of the cow. Such a device remains fixed on the animal but can not be conveniently examined or recovered.
- Cows also have different morphologies that vary considerably according to their race. Or the art detection devices prior art do not take into account these differences in morphology and are not designed only for a specific race.
- An object of the present invention is to propose a set of detection of estrus status in cows remaining attached to the rump of the animal during overlaps.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a set of detection of oestrus status in cows that can adapt to all breeds of cows.
- An object of the present invention is still to provide a set of which the detector can be easily examined and recovered.
- the present invention meets the above object and provides an assembly for detecting the state of oestrus in dairy cows, comprising a support and a detector, said detector consisting of a housing and means for detecting the state estrus in cows enclosed in said housing, characterized in that said detection means emit light signals and in that said support consists of a coupon and a case, said coupon being made of natural fibers and having a surface between about 0.04 m 2 and about 0.06 m 2 , said holster being supported by said coupon and being substantially rectangular and placed substantially in the center of said coupon, said detector being received in said holster.
- the coupon has substantially a shape of heart.
- the overall width of the support is between about 0.15 m and about 0.3 m and its overall height is between about 0.15 m and about 0.25 m.
- the case generally comprises a self-gripping closing means with a paw.
- the material constituting the case is usually made of synthetic fibers, for example, polyester fibers, such as high tenacity polyester fibers.
- the case may have one or two observation ports.
- the upper part of the case is transparent enough to detect and count light signals emitted by the detector.
- the material constituting the support is advantageously made of fibers natural. Burlap is a particularly suitable coupon material. Other materials may however be used.
- the coupon can be in color fluorescent.
- the case may be an integral part of the coupon or, preferably, it may be has a base that is sewn on the coupon.
- the support may comprise straps intended for fixing it on the tail of a cow.
- the detector housing consists of a capped soleplate a lid.
- the sole has a bottom wall which has two zones of different thicknesses, a central zone of relatively large thickness constituting a beam and a peripheral zone of lesser thickness surrounding said beam, said peripheral zone being bordered by a lip surmounted by a peripheral lip, the beam presenting three dwellings intended to receive a capture system made from pressure sensors.
- the cover includes a cover plate wearing a skirt surrounded by a throat, ribs which, together with said skirt three compartments, a first compartment being intended for receive the power supply, a second compartment being intended for receive means of analysis and processing a signal and a third compartment having a housing for receiving a lens for optimal diffusion of light signals.
- the assembly of the sole and the cover is usually done by gluing the peripheral lip and the sole into the groove of the lid.
- the glue used for gluing is for example a polyurethane glue two-component.
- the housing cover is usually made of polycarbonate, in general transparent.
- the sole generally of substantially pyramidal shape, is advantageously produced by injection of flexible polyurethane.
- the lid is of substantially rectangular shape and the base of the sole is substantially rectangular.
- the support 1, in the form of a heart, for a detector 2 of the oestrus state cows consists of a coupon 3 made of natural fibers supporting a case 4 rectangular, adapted to receive said detector, placed in the center of the coupon.
- the overall width of the support is between about 0.15 m and about 0.3 m and its height h overall is between about 0.15 m and about 0.25 m.
- the case 4 comprises a closing means 5 hook-and-loop with a tab 6.
- the case has an observation port 7.
- the case 4 has a base that is sewn on the coupon.
- the housing consists of a sole 13 capped with a lid 30.
- the sole 13 of substantially pyramidal shape and with a rectangular base, has a wall of background which comprises two zones of different thicknesses, a central zone 14, of relatively large thickness constituting a beam and a peripheral zone 15 of lesser thickness surrounding said beam 14.
- the peripheral zone is bordered by a flange 17 surmounted by a peripheral lip 16.
- the beam 14 has three dwellings 18, 19 and 20, intended to receive a capture system made based on sensors of pressure.
- the lid 30, of rectangular shape comprises a cover plate 31 wearing a skirt 32 surrounded by a peripheral groove 33, ribs 34, 35 which, in together with said skirt 32, constitute three compartments 36, 37 and 38.
- the first compartment 36 is intended to receive the power supply
- the second compartment 37 is intended to receive means of analysis and treatment of a signal
- the third compartment 38 has a housing 39 for receiving a lens (not shown) for optimum diffusion of light signals.
- the peripheral groove 33 serves as a glue reservoir for the assembly of the sole 13 and lid 30.
- pawns of the sole 13 are clipped in housings 10 of the lid 30.
- the assembly 8 comprises the support 1 comprising a detector 2 of the state estrus in cows emitting light signals, engaged in holster 4 and locked in the housing described above.
- the pressure sensors integrated in the detector record a pressure and the detector emits signals luminous.
- the detector 2 is inserted into the case 4, the sole against the base sewn on the coupon, so that the indicator light can be observed.
- the closure 5 is closed by means of the leg 6.
- the assembly 8 is then glued on the rump of the animal, as close as possible to its tail.
- a suitable glue is sprayed on the backside of the support, ie on the opposite to the case 4. This operation should preferably be carried out at the temperature ambient temperature, provided that it is at least 10 ° C. Let the glue dry that she no longer adheres to the finger.
- the glued backing is placed as close as possible to the tail of the animal, centered relative to his spine. We spray a layer of glue on the back of the animal. The substrate is then glued to the place where the glue has been deposited and pressed, for example with a brush while insisting on the edges of the support.
