Definitions
- the invention relates to a limiter device for a high voltage circuit breaker, of the type said "dead tank” with earthed metal tank, placed upstream of a line high voltage electricity in an energy distribution or transport network and more particularly a device for limiting the speed of recovery of voltage after interruption, following an online fault.
- a high voltage circuit breaker placed upstream of a line high voltage electrical equipment must be able to interrupt line faults which are likely to operate downstream up to distances of a few kilometers and which are characterized by very high current intensities. These intensities can reach for example 57 kA for a supply at 145 kV and 60 Hz.
- a problem that arises after an interruption caused by a fault in this kind is to respect the conditions for restoring the tension which are planned at network level, in particular with regard to recovery speed of voltage du / dt. It is for example asked to respect a speed of restoration of 13.6 kV / ⁇ s in the case of the 145 kV and 60 Hz supply considered above.
- circuit breakers do not currently allow such a constraint, it is conventionally expected to place a capacitor between earth and line downstream of a circuit breaker in order to limit the speed of recovery of voltage below the value that can be supported by the breaker.
- the capacitor provided in such a device cannot intervene only to reduce a voltage being restored downstream of the circuit breaker and it has no effect on that of the voltage, upstream of the source side.
- a dead tank circuit breaker which is directly connected to a power bar, upstream side, has no significant capacity likely to act, the output crossing bringing a small capacity of the order of 50 to 100 pF. He must however be able to support the sum of the re-establishment of tensions upstream and downstream.
- a speed value of upstream voltage recovery du / dt from 2 to 7.8 kV / ⁇ s is usual, the value of downstream recovery speed having the value of 13.6 kV / ⁇ s.
- the high value of upstream voltage recovery rate corresponding to 7.8 kV / ⁇ s is the consequence of a high frequency voltage oscillation due to reflections on the first major discontinuity present at the level of the busbars connecting the source.
- the invention therefore proposes a limiting device for a high-voltage circuit breaker, known as "dead tank” with earthed metal tank, comprising two terminals intended for be connected one to a high voltage power line and the other to a link leading to a source which makes it possible to supply the line through the circuit breaker, this device being intended to limit the speed of voltage recovery, following a cut caused by an online fault.
- the device comprises a capacitor which is placed outside the circuit breaker tank and which is electrically mounted between the two terminals of the circuit breaker to limit the speeds of voltage recovery upstream and downstream of the circuit breaker, following a power cut due to an online fault.
- Figure 1 shows a block diagram of a device according to the invention.
- Figure 2 presents a diagram of the / dt showing the evolution of the upstream voltages and downstream during a recovery.
- Figures 3, 4 and 5 respectively present three oscillograms relating to a example of a limiting device according to the invention
- FIG. 1 The diagram shown in Figure 1 includes a high voltage circuit breaker 1, of the type "dead tank”, supposedly placed downstream from a source and upstream from a power line high voltage which is supplied through it.
- This circuit breaker has externally a terminal 2, for the connection of an overhead line wire 3 high voltage, and a terminal 4, for the connection of a busbar connection supply conductor 5, source side.
- This circuit breaker is for example a model HGF1012 or 1014 from the company GEC Alsthom.
- a limiting device is associated with circuit breaker 1 in order to maintain the speed of voltage recovery to an allowable value, when the voltage power is restored, after being cut by the circuit breaker, following the appearance of an online fault sufficient to have caused a trip of this circuit breaker.
- a limiting device comprising only a capacitor 6 mounted between terminals 2 and 4 of the circuit breaker so as to be connected on the one hand to the wire 3 and on the other hand to the busbar 4.
- This arrangement makes it possible to reduce the speed of voltage recovery du / dt on the upstream side of circuit breaker 1, during a recovery, during the phase so-called transient initial recovery voltage (TTRI). It also allows reduce the speed of recovery of the / dt on the downstream side during the first rise in voltage recovery at line level.
- TTRI transient initial recovery voltage
- the voltage components of the transient voltage recovery signal when of such recovery, do not have same natural frequencies, as shown schematically on the tension diagram presented by way of example in FIG. 2.
- the frequency on the upstream side is of the order of megahertz (curve I), while the downstream side frequency is around 250 kilohertz (curve II) for a circuit breaker here considered without condenser limiting device (s).
- the capacitor 6 of the limiting device according to the invention is effective both in reducing the speed of downstream recovery and in to reduce the upstream recovery speed.
- This capacitor 6 can have a capacity lower than the sum of those of the capacitors otherwise provided for upstream and downstream of the circuit breaker, due to its positioning. He is no longer necessary to mount one or more capacitors upstream and / or downstream of the circuit breaker which avoids the drawbacks which ensued.
- test oscillogram presented by way of example in FIG. 3 shows the evolution of the transient initial recovery voltage TTRI. This is essentially influenced by the electrical characteristics which are specific to the set of power bars including the conductive bar 5 connected to the terminal 4 upstream of circuit breaker 1 considered.
- This oscillogram includes abscissa values measured in microseconds and ordinate values corresponding to kilovolts. It clearly shows the steep du / dt slope which characterizes the initial phase of a voltage recovery, starting at time t1, after a very small number of small amplitude oscillations and before a phase of damped oscillations returning to a normal regime at the end of recovery.
- the oscillogram presented on figure 4 illustrates an example of transient tension of recovery at the terminals of the circuit breaker, when the transient initial recovery voltage TTRI.
- This voltage curve in function of time is represented with the same units of voltage and time than the previous one.
- Transient voltage is the sum of a low component frequency due to source side voltage recovery and high component frequency due to line side voltage recovery.
- FIG. 5 corresponds to the real case where there is simultaneously a transient voltage of initial recovery TTRI, of the type illustrated in FIG. 3, upstream of the circuit breaker and an oscillating voltage variation due to the downstream line of the circuit breaker, this variation in oscillatory shape being of the type illustrated in figure 4.
- This curve is characterized by a speed of voltage recovery very high and by the fact that the tension is restored without delay from the instant of cut-off.
- the device according to the invention in which the capacitor 6 is inserted between the circuit breaker 1 terminals, is more particularly interesting, when the performance requirements are high. This is the case when the expected current at 145 kV and at 60 Hz reaches 63 kA and makes it difficult to obtain a speed of admissible recovery on the upstream side of the circuit breaker 6.
- the value of the capacitance of a capacitor 6 is, for example, chosen from the order from 1 to 5 nF.
- a capacitor 6 with a capacity equal to 5 nF is for example installed in the case of a circuit breaker which is designed to operate under the conditions mentioned above and who may have to cut an online fault corresponding to 90% of 63 kA, This capacitor reduces the recovery speed of 13.8 kV / ⁇ s to 6.6 kV / ⁇ s on the downstream side of the circuit breaker and that on the upstream side of 7.8 kV / ⁇ s to 2.7 kV / ⁇ s.
- the capacitance value of a capacitor can be further reduced by means of a appropriate dimensioning of the active parts of the circuit breaker 1. Such a reduction requires that the breaking chamber of circuit breaker 1 has performances in correspondence, these performances having to be all the more that the planned reduction is significant. Capacity values of 600 or more usually 1000 to 1500 pF are quite possible.
- the capacitor 6 is mounted outside the circuit breaker 1 and more precisely at the outside of its sealed tank so as not to penalize the bulk of the tank and the cost of the circuit breaker.
