Description

  • This invention consists of an assembly for mounting cladding panels on means of support fastened to the facades and/or floor slabs of buildings.
  • As is well known, in order to improve the finish or appearance of building façades or simply of the floor slabs of buildings under construction, panels made of an appropriate cladding material are applied, giving the desired finish to the façades and/or floor slabs of buildings.
  • There are many systems in use for mounting such panels on façades and/or floor slabs, leaving a dead air space between the façade and/or floor slabs and the cladding panel that serves as heat/cold insulation, mounted on elements fastened to the façade and/or floor slabs on which the cladding panels are mounted directly or indirectly by means of other complementary elements.
  • To date, the existing systems for mounting panels on façades and/or floor slabs have been relatively complex and required complicated procedures for mounting the cladding panels.
  • Consequently, there are various types of elements that are fastened to façades and/or floor slabs, but there are difficulties with the elements fastened to the cladding panels and that connect to or hold the elements fastened to façades and/or floor slabs.
  • These difficulties are eliminated completely by means of the mounting assembly embodied in this invention, which consists of a main section fastened to the supporting elements fastened to the façade and/or floor slabs of the building in question, and a secondary section fastened to the cladding panel that connects to the main section.
  • In this invention, the main section has an overall U-shape, fastened at the middle to the means of support fastened to the façade and/or floor slabs, with at least one of the legs provided with means for connection to the secondary section.
  • In this invention, the secondary section has a U-shape with one leg shorter than the other, with the longer leg provided with means for fastening to the cladding panel and the shorter leg provided with means for connection to the means of the main section.
  • The means of connection provided on the legs of the main section consist of end extensions parallel to the middle section, with an angled outer edge.
  • The means provided for connection of the secondary section to the cladding panel consist of striations on the outer face of the longer leg to increase friction and a longitudinal flange forming an acute angle with that leg, this inclined flange fitting into a corresponding inclined groove provided on the adjacent hidden inner surface of the cladding panel.
  • In this invention, the whole surface of the flange and, as the case may be, the striated surface, is covered with a coat of adhesive to increase cohesion between the secondary section and the cladding panel.
  • The means of connecting the secondary section to the main section consist of the middle section and the shorter leg, which connect to the angled outer extensions provided on at least one leg of the main section.
  • The extensions of the leg of the main section that do not connect to the secondary section act as a support for the corresponding cladding panel.
  • In this invention, the connections between the inclined flange of the secondary section and the inclined groove in the cladding panel, and between the shorter leg of the secondary section and the prolongation bent at its end of at least one of the legs of the main section are made by means of the force of gravity and are therefore strengthened with the passing of time.
  • These and other characteristics are explained in greater detail in the following description and further illustrated in the accompanying page of drawings showing a practical case of usage given as just one not limitative example of the scope of this invention.
  • In the drawings:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic representation in elevation with perspective showing a number of elements of the mounting assembly in this invention and several cladding panels for façades and/or floor slabs of buildings, in relative vertical positions and separated, prior to connection.
  • Figure 2 is a representation in elevation of an end view similar to Figure 1, showing the secondary sections fastened to the cladding panels.
  • Figure 3 is a representation in elevation of an end view similar to Figures 1 and 2, showing the secondary sections fastened to the cladding panels and connected to the main sections.
  • Figure 4 is a larger-scale representation of the fastening of a secondary section to a cladding panel.
  • As shown in the drawings, the assembly for mounting cladding panels to means of support fastened to façades or floor slabs of buildings in this invention consists of a main section with the general reference 1 and a secondary section with the general reference 2, with this main section 1 having an overall U-shape with legs of equal length and being fastened in its middle section to the means of support (not shown) fastened beforehand to the façades or floor slabs of buildings (not shown). In order to strengthen the attachment of the main section - 1 - to the means of support (not shown), the outer connecting face of the middle section 1a is provided with striated areas 3, which increase the friction between the two surfaces in contact. This middle section 1a has a narrow striated area 4 situated on the centre of its inner face.
  • Legs 1b and 1c of main section 1, being of equal height, are shorter than the middle section 1a. These legs 1b and 1c end in extensions 1'b and 1'c, respectively, which run parallel to the middle section 1a and, in this invention, can be U-shaped with angled ends 5 and 6, of equal length, as shown in the drawing of the main section labelled 1' at the bottom of Figures 1, 2, and 3, or, alternatively, as shown in the drawing of the main section labelled 1'' at the top of Figures 1, 2 and 3, the extensions at the ends of legs 1b and 1c consisting of an extension 7 towards the inside on leg 1c and an extension 8 towards both sides of leg 1b, with both these extensions having their ends 9 and 10 angled, these ends being identical to the angled ends 5 and 6 of the main section 1'.
  • As shown, the main section 1 in version 1' is symmetrical on both sides of central section M (extensions 1'b and 1'c are identical), allowing it to be used in any position. In contrast, version 1'' is not symmetrical on both sides of central section M (extensions 7 and 8 are different), meaning that it can only be placed in a position such as the one illustrated.
  • Secondary section 2 has an overall U-shape with one leg shorter than the other, with the longer leg 2a being provided with means of fastening to the cladding panel identified with general reference P, and the shorter leg 2b being provided with means of connection to main section 1.
  • The means of fastening of secondary section 2 to the cladding panel P consist of an inclined longitudinal flange 11 projecting from the outside of longer leg 2a and forming an acute angle with it, and which, when connected to the cladding panel P, fits into inclined groove 12 provided on the inner face Pi (not shown) of the cladding panel, and longitudinal striations 13 on the outer face of longer leg 2a, which enters into contact with the inner face Pi, increasing the friction between the adjoining faces Pi of the cladding panel and the striations 13 of the secondary section, strengthening the cohesion between the two.
  • The means of connection of secondary section 2 to main section 1, in the case of 1' and 1'', consist of middle section 2c and shorter leg 2b of secondary section 2, which connect (see Figures 1 to 3) to angled extensions 5, 6 or 7, 8, depending on the position in which the secondary section 2 is fastened to cladding panel P.
  • As shown in the illustrations, extensions 5, 6, or 7,8 of the two extensions of main section 1 (either 1' or 1'') abut on the inner face (not shown) Pi of the cladding panel P, giving this connection greater stability.
  • The connection between inclined flange 11 and inclined groove 12 provided on panel P may be simply mechanical, by fitting together, but the invention provides preferably for the entire surface of the flange 11 of secondary section 2 to incorporate an adhesive covering A to strengthen the cohesion in the connection between secondary section 2 and cladding panel P. Moreover, adhesive covering A may also be applied to the whole of the striated section 13, further strengthening the cohesion.
  • As shown clearly in the illustrations, the fitting of inclined flange 11 of secondary section 2 into inclined groove 12 of the cladding panel P, and the fitting of shorter leg 2b of secondary section 2 with the angled extension (5, 6, 7, 8) of a leg (1b, 1c) of main section 1 are made by means of the force of gravity and are therefore strengthened with the passing of time.
