Abstract

A burglar alarm for roll-up and roller window shutters that can directly make use of a sound signaling system or that can be connected to a centralized alarm system by a transmitter, the alarm being activated when roll-up or roller window shutter is forcing lifted from outside.
In the alarm, that has to be fixed on the window jamb (11), comprises a saw-toothed constraint (2) and a signaling alarm system (4). The saw-toothed constraint (2) includes two slides (9,10) which can shift the one along the other when they are subjected to a lengthwise tension. Lengthwise tension is generated by lifting roll-up shutter from outside and is shift to constraint's slides through any conventional bolt (7) fixed to a roll-up shutter' louver (3) and fitted in constraint's saw teeth. The slides' shifting activates the signaling alarm system (4).

Description

  • The present invention concerns a burglar alarm device for roller window and roll-up shutters; for the purpose of signaling and of preventing someone from climbing in through windows and doors which are closed by means of roll-up shutters, by lifting them from outside.
  • Often burglars climb in through windows and doors by lifting from outside roll-up shutters closing them; infact windows and doors are the weakest closing structures in a house. Conventional alarm systems signal theft attempts but don't prevent burglars lifting roll-up shutters from outside.
  • The present invention concerns a burglar alarm device for roll-up ad roller-window shutters; moreover when it is combined to conventional locking systems, it has the double function: signaling attempts of lifting roll-up and roller window shutters from outside and blocking them.
  • The present invention seeks to provide a device whose functions are to signal attempts of lifting roll-up ad roller window shutters from outside, and to block them when it is connected to conventional locking systems for roller window shutters, as the locking system described in the italian patent number 01270037 (date 28/04/97): where the lock system is a bolt, automatically moved by relative shifting of roll-up shutter' louvers, that blocks roll-up shutter because it is matched by saw teeth of a constraint which is fixed on the window jamb.
  • In accordance with the invention, the burglar alarm device is essentially constituted by a saw-toothed constraint that is integral with an alarm device likable on a window jamb; the saw-toothed constraint matches conventional bolts. The saw-toothed constraint activates the alarm when a roll-up shutter, blocked by a bolt, is lifted from outside. The saw-toothed constraint and the alarm device are connected through two slides which can shift the one along the other. Their relative shifting activates a signaling system placed at the head of the device; the signaling system can be a sound alarm or a transmitter that is tuned to a centralized burglar alarm or both.
  • The integration of the device with conventional bolts, both blocks and signals the lifting of roll-up shutters from outside.
  • The invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
    • Figure 1 is a lateral section view of a burglar alarm, constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, in combination with a conventional bolt; and
    • Figure 2 is a front plan view, of the device of Figure 1.
  • Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a burglar alarm for roll-up ad roller window shutters, characterized by a component part 10 fixed on a window jamb, and comprising a bulge 9 shaped so that a saw-toothed portion 2 can longitudinally shift through a buttonhole 8 along a provided stroke. A bolt 7 matches the saw-toothed element 2; and it is driven by a locking system 1, fixed on roll-up shutter' louvers 3. When the roll-up shutter 3 is lifted from outside, the upstroke is transmitted to the saw-toothed portion 2 by means of the bolt 7, that is blocked on the saw-toothed portion 2 itself.
  • On its upstroke, the saw-toothed portion 2 presses on a switch 6, that is provided with a return spring. The pressure on switch 6 activates a sound alarm 4 that is supplied by a battery 5; both alarm and battery are placed in a seat at the head of the component part 10. The sound alarm 4 can be replaced with any signaling system, such as an electromagnetic waves emitter tuned to a centralized alarm system.
  • The foregoing description is for purposes of illustration only and is not intended to limit the scope of protection accorded this invention. The scope of protection is to be measured by the following claims, which should be interpreted as broadly as the inventive contribution permits.

Claims (9)

  1. A burglar alarm device for roller window and roll-up shutters including a device with one or more constraints and an alarm signaling system.
  2. A device as claimed in the previous Claim, wherein the said device with the constraints consists of a component part that is fixable on a window jamb and a component part that is integral with the constraints and is movable as to the former.
  3. A device as claimed in the previous Claims, wherein the movable component part, integral with the constraints, shifting as to the fixable component part, activates the alarm signaling system.
  4. A device as claimed in Claim 3, wherein the movable and integral with constraints component part is held down by a force that is opposite to its movement.
  5. A device as claimed in Claim 2, wherein the fixable on a window jamb component part comprises a slide and the movable component part, integral with the constraints, comprises a buttonhole.
  6. A device as claimed in the previous Claims, wherein the alarm signaling system is comprised in the likable component part.
  7. A device as claimed in the previous Claims, wherein the alarm signaling system consists of a sound alarm and of its supply and control system, comprised in the likable component part.
  8. A device as claimed in the previous Claims, wherein the alarm signaling system consists of a transmitter, turned to a centralized burglar alarm, and of its supply and control system.
  9. A device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the above said constraints can match any conventional bolt, which is fixed on roll-up or roller window shutter' louvers, for the aim of blocking the roller window shutter itself.
