    Claims (29)

    1. Method of manufacturing secure documents, wherein it comprises the following steps:
      A - bonding at least one control coupon (V1) to a backing sheet (FS) and making a first mark (R1) in relation to the position of the control coupon on the backing sheet;
      B - printing personalized information on the control coupon;
      C - positioning the backing sheet in a storage and restitution platform (PLT1) then in a guillotine (MAS) ;
      D - using the guillotine to cut the backing sheet upstream of the front edge (V1.1) of the control coupon and downstream of the rear edge (V1.2) of the control coupon;
      E - placing the backing sheet and the document (PASS) that is to be produced in a press (PR) with the control coupon positioned in contact with the document;
      F - pressing so as to bond the control coupon to the document;
      G - removing the document from the press and taking off the backing sheet;
      H - removing the document.
    2. Method according to Claim 1, wherein during step B, at least one second mark (R2) is printed also in relation to the first mark and in that the positioning in step C is done with respect to the first and/or second marks (R1, R2).
    3. Method according to Claim 2, wherein after printing, the relative positions of the first and second marks (R1, R2) are checked so as to reject the corresponding control coupon if there is a positional offset between the two marks.
    4. Method according to Claim 1, wherein steps C and D comprise the following steps:
      Ca - initial positioning of the backing sheet with the front edge of the control coupon near the cutting position of the guillotine;
      Cb - cutting the backing sheet upstream of the front edge of the control coupon;
      Cc - a second positioning of the backing sheet with the rear edge of the control coupon near the cutting position of the guillotine;
      Cd - cutting the backing sheet downstream of the rear edge of the control coupon.
    5. Method according to Claim 1, wherein the first mark is perforated or printed.
    6. Method according to Claim 1, wherein it comprises, after step B, trapping the backing sheet after printing on an outlet area of the printer.
    7. Method according to one of the preceding claims, wherein step A envisages bonding several control coupons (V1 to V3) on the backing sheet and making at least one mark (R1.1, R2.1, R3.1) associated with each control coupon; and in that after the backing has been cut on each side of the first control coupon, namely after steps C, D and Ca to Cd, and steps E to G have been carried out, the backing sheet is positioned and cut in the guillotine on each side of the second control coupon and so on and so forth for all the control coupons.
    8. Method according to Claim 2, wherein one or more marks (R2, R3, R4) are printed then stored in memory before the cutting of the sheet, these marks being used to give indications for the rest of the method such as "type of document" or "manual or automatic removal of the document".
    9. Method according to one of Claims 1 or 8, wherein step H comprises manual removal of the document or a step of stacking the documents produced.
    10. Method according to Claim 1, wherein step E comprises, when placing the document in the press, a guiding of the document by guiding one side of the document against the flank of a guide piece (REF).
    11. Method according to Claim 1, wherein the backing sheet is placed on a die of the press, the control coupon being on the opposite side of the backing sheet to this die, and in that the document is placed on the backing sheet with its face intended to receive the information in contact with the control coupon, a second die of the press pressing the document down against the backing sheet and the control coupon.
    12. Method according to Claim 1, wherein step A is preceded by a step of hot-depositing an adhesive on the face to be printed of the control coupon, and in that step F is performed hot.
    13. Method according to Claim 1, wherein prior to step E, the face of the document intended to receive the control coupon is coated with a hot coat of adhesive and in that step F is performed hot.
    14. Method according to Claim 1, wherein the storage platform system has two levels:
      an upper level that receives the sheets leaving the printer;
      a lower level that receives the sheets from the first level and in which level they are made available for use in the remainder of the method, a transfer system allowing sheets to be transferred from the first level to the second level, and a system of sensors that detect whether or not sheets are present on the lower level allows the said transfer.
    15. System for producing secure documents, wherein it comprises, arranged in line:
      a printer (IMP) for printing personalized information on control coupons (V1, V2, V3) bonded onto backing sheets (FS);
      a guillotine for cutting the backing sheet (FS) upstream of the front edge (V1.1) of each control coupon and downstream of the rear edge (V1.2) of each control coupon;
      a bonding press (PR) for receiving, on the one hand, a cut backing sheet bearing a control coupon and, on the other hand, a document that is to be secured (PASS) and allowing the printed face of the control coupon to be bonded against a face of the document that is to be secured (PASS);
      a system for removing the secured document (PASS);
      a system (PI) for grasping and transporting a backing sheet (FS) allowing a backing sheet to be transported from a storage platform system to the guillotine and then from the guillotine to the press;
      a central control circuit (CC) managing the operation of the system.
    16. System according to Claim 15, wherein the storage platform system has two levels:
      an upper level that receives the sheets leaving the printer;
      a lower level that receives the sheets from the first level and in which level they are made available for use in the remainder of the method, a transfer system allowing sheets to be transferred from the first level to the second level, and a system of sensors that detect whether or not sheets are present on the lower level allows the said transfer.
    17. System according to Claim 15, wherein it has a device for transporting documents from an inlet-end reserve to the press (PR).
    18. System for producing secure documents according to Claim 15, wherein each backing sheet has a first mark (R1.1 to R3.1) associated with each control coupon, locating each control coupon on the sheet and making it possible to check the position of the printing with respect to the position of the control coupon.
    19. System according to Claim 15, wherein when printing each control coupon, the printer also prints at least one second mark (R1.2 to R3.2) on the backing sheet.
    20. System according to Claim 15, wherein the grasping and transport system (PI) has a gripper allowing the backing sheet to be picked up and moved.
    21. System according to Claim 15, wherein the grasping and transport system (PI), controlled by the central control circuit (CC), allows the backing sheet to be moved a first time to the guillotine so as to cut the backing sheet upstream of a control coupon and then a second time to the guillotine to cut the backing sheet downstream of the control coupon and a third time for transporting the backing sheet bearing the said control coupon to the press (PR).
    22. System according to Claim 19, wherein the backing sheet is positioned in the guillotine each time with reference to the second mark (R1.2) or the first mark (R1.1).
    23. System according to Claim 19, wherein it comprises a detection device (DEC1 and DEC'1) making it possible to check the matching-up of the first and second mark and inform the central control circuit (CC) of this matching-up, which allows production to continue or allows a poorly positioned control coupon to be rejected.
    24. System according to Claim 23, wherein the detector (DEC1) makes it possible to read the second mark for positioning the backing sheet in the press (PR) and for deducing system operating information from it.
    25. System according to Claim 15, wherein the press (PR) comprises one or two heated die(s) intended to receive the backing sheet bearing a control coupon, the backing sheet being in contact with the heated die.
    26. System according to Claim 25, wherein the document is placed in the press with its face that is to be personalized in contact with the control coupon.
    27. System according to Claim 24, wherein it comprises a first output to a system for automatically stacking the documents and a second output allowing the documents to be recovered manually, whether a document is directed to the first or to the second output being controlled by the central control circuit (CC) according to the result of reading a third mark (R1.3 to R3.3) for example.
    28. System according to Claim 17, wherein a document to be secured is transferred to the press in a path which has a guide piece (REF) against which one side of the document rests, a drive system forcing the document to press against the said guide piece (REF).
    29. System according to Claim 28, wherein the said drive system has rollers (ref1, ref2), the axes of which are inclined with respect to the plane of the guide piece (REF).
