Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general field of terminals portable like those of cellular telephony, for example of the type GSM, or radio handsets associated with a fixed base of so-called cordless telephones.
- Radio links require an antenna longer than that of the terminal body so that the printed circuit board, carrying the electronic components of the terminal, has a zone at the end connection to which a fixed external antenna wire is connected which extends an antenna track from the map.
- At least the free end of the antenna wire is housed in a cap in plastic material, intended to avoid any risk of injury to users.
- the antenna wire is welded to the card, the radio components of it at the desired frequencies, then we go up the whole in the case.
- we first carry out an electrical assembly which we have easy access to adjust it on the table and only then that we dress the assembly by means of a case and a cap antenna.
- This approach has two drawbacks. All first, the radio adjustments, on the table, are carried out under conditions different from the actual operating conditions, since the wire antenna is then bare, without its coupling with the cap.
- the antenna settings do not can be carried out only after mounting in the case since it carries the antenna through a printed circuit connection ring.
- the antenna must then be in its mechanical form final, that is to say with a rigid envelope overmolded on the wire antenna to stiffen the assembly and allow the antenna to be pushed back in the housing and extract it by pulling on its end, sliding in the ring, two opposite stops being limiting its stroke.
- the antenna envelope contains a adjustment element carried by the casing.
- the constraint mechanical, rigidity of the antenna does not exist and, even, we can estimate that the risk of injury mentioned at the beginning is reduced if the antenna is very flexible, i.e. with a small section wire free mounted in a flexible envelope.
- the present invention aims to allow easy and inexpensive adjustment of a fixed portable terminal antenna.
- the invention relates to a portable radio terminal, comprising a fixed antenna comprising a wire, at least the free end of which is surrounded by a protective envelope, connected to a circuit board printed and protruding out of a box containing the card, characterized by the fact that the antenna is in one piece and the envelope is overmolded on the wire.
- the antenna constitutes a component of the card, electrically connected to the other components and immediately appearing in a form final, allowing its adjustment, no additional operation assembly of its elements is not necessary.
- Overmolding can be made with any flexible material and therefore keep on the antenna a flexibility to prevent the risk of injury.
- the radiotelephony terminal shown has a box 1 containing a printed circuit board 2 carrying various electronic circuits and particular of the transceiver circuits 3 connected to an antenna track 4 which extends, out of the housing 1, by a fixed external antenna 6.
- the external antenna 6 comprises an antenna wire or central core 7 surrounded a plastic molding 8, here extending over the entire length of the antenna 6.
- plastic material 8 By the choice of plastic material 8 and its limited thickness, the antenna 6 has guaranteed flexibility limiting the risk of personal injury.
- the section of the envelope 10 could be reduced in the section connecting its zone free end at the foot of the antenna 6.
- the end of the wire 7 at the bottom of the antenna 6 is stripped and connected electrically at the end of track 4, precisely it is welded in this example to a track 5 ending this track 4.
- the antenna 6 is thus monobloc and connected directly, irremovably, to the beach 5. It constitutes a fixed element of the card 2, having characteristics fixed or fixed and therefore stable electrics for making adjustments final. In particular, the absence of a connector at the foot of the antenna prevents the problems of pollution and wear at this level, with the problems of parasitic reflections which they involve.
- the antenna 6 is fixed here to the housing 1.
- it comprises, in the foot area, a radial protuberance 9, or partial ring, cooperating with a recess in the thickness of the wall of the housing 1, so to prevent any axial translation of the antenna 6.
- the above recess has an angular extension, around the axis of the antenna 6, limited to the angular size of the protuberance 9, so that the antenna 6 is here fully blocked, without possibility of rotation.
- the antenna 6 present, in this example, a general orientation inclined on a longitudinal plane of the box 1, like the map of the card 2. More specifically, the antenna 6 comprises a foot section 10 substantially parallel to the plane of the card 2 and a free end section 11 deviating from this plane, towards the rear of the housing 1. It is thus, at least partially, separated from the head of the user, so that radio transmission is less affected by it and is therefore more omnidirectional in use.
