Abstract

The present invention refers to a boat, and more specifically to a launch, which shows a series of building peculiarities guided to provide it with a high resistance, great lightness and a perfect stability against possible side rolls, it all on account of the incorporation of a keel (1) with a determined configuration, the inner surface of which defines three swellings (4,5) appreciably semicylindrical placed in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boat and which extend practically along the whole length of said boat, grooves or flutings of the same length being defined between saids wellings.

Description

    OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention refers to a boat, and more specifically to a launch, which shows a series of building peculiarities aimed to provide it with a high resistance, great lightness and a perfect stability against possible side rolls, it all on account of the incorporation of a keel with a determined configuration.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Today, boats of this kind are widely known, built with light materials such as plastic, resins and polyester fibres, etc., and in which the keel is fastened on the lower surface of the hull, a watertight cavity being defined between both, that can be filled with air of with a filling material of low density.
  • In this kind of boats the part forming the keel shows in its centre a rib which projects in a more pronounced way in the bows area; on the sides of this central rib, surfaces markedly flat are each laid out, which progressively bend as they extend away the central area of the boat in order to form the lower area of the sides.
  • This configuration of the keel, combined with the lightness of the boat, makes necessary to include in it a inner structure in order to provide it with a higher stiffness; on the other hand the configuration appreciably flat of the sides of the keel does not allow to obtain the wanted stability against the possible side rolls caused by the swell or by the moving of the crew on deck.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The boat object of the invention, keeping the same composition of elements (keel and upper body) than the conventional boats, shows features in the configuration of the keel aimed to provide it with a great side stability and a high resistance, which allows to suppress any chassis or inner structure of reinforcement.
  • According to the invention, the lower surface of the keel defines three swellings appreciably semicylindrical placed in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boat and which extend practically along the whole length of said boat, grooves or flutings of the same length being defined between said swellings.
  • In order to facilitate the displacement on the water of the boat, the three mentioned swellings show the ends of the bows bent towards the upper area.
  • The central swelling can show a height higher than the two side swellings defining, only the former and in the front end, two side planes that converge on a central edge, the purpose of which is to facilitate the penetration of said central swelling in the water; in the event that the three swellings show heights appreciably equal, the two side swellings will define in their front end an analogue edge to that of the central swelling.
  • The two side swellings are placed slightly sloping towards the rear area of the boat, adopting longitudinally a position appreciably slanting with regard to the central one.
  • The alternation of the swellings with the intermediate grooves or flutings provides this keel with a great resistance; in addition, when a side roll takes place the side swellings act as balancing elements since, when a small side inclination is produced, an important volume of the swelling conceming the same side is introduced into the water, thus receiving immediately an upward thrust tending to balance the boat.
  • Another of the advantages of this keel is that of reducing the surface in touch with the water when the boat is displacing with a high speed, the stability being kept since said contact is established at the medium area by the central swelling and at the two sides by means of the other two swellings.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.
  • In order to complement the description that is being made and with the object to facilitate a better comprehension of the features of the invention a set of drawings is attached to the present descriptive specification, as an integral part thereof, wherein it has been represented with an illustrative and not limiting character as follows:
    • Figure 1 shows a side view of the advocated boat.
    • Figure 2 shows a view from stem of the boat.
    • Figure 3 shows a bottom plan view of the boat.
    • Figure 4 shows a view from the bows of the same boat in the previous figures.
    PREFERABLE EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
  • As it can be seen in the example of embodiment shown in the figures, the boat to the case consists of a keel (1) and an upper body (2) joint together by their passages (3), a watertight cavity being defined between them filled with air or with a filling material of low density, for instance polyurethane foam.
  • The upper body (2) can define in its medium area any configuration or element proper for this kind of boats, in order to allow a correct handling of the boat and lodging of the passengers.
  • Starting form this composition, already known, the boat proposed here fumishes as main features that the keel (1) shows in its lower surface three swellings (4, 5 and 4), two of them on the sides (4) and one in the centre (5), appreciably semicylindrical, placed in parallel with regard to the longitudinal axis of the boat and which extend practically along the whole length of said boat, the grooves or flutings (6) being defined between said swellings.
  • The mentioned swellings (4 and 5) show their front ends bent towards the upper area in order to facilitate the displacement of the boat on the water; the central swelling (5) shows also in said front end two side planes (51) that converge on a central edge (52) the aim of which is to allow the penetration of said boat into the water.
  • As it can be seen in the figure (1) the side swellings (4) are placed slightly sloping towards the rear area of the boat, adopting longitudinally a position appreciably slanting with regard to the central swelling (5), which in addition is more projecting that the aforementioned ones.
  • It is not considered necessary to extend longer this description so that any expert in this matter understands the scope of this invention and the advantages that arise therefrom.
  • The terms in which this specification has been drawn up should be always assumed in a wide and not limiting sense.
  • Materials, shape, size and disposition of the elements will be open to variation provided that this does not involve any alteration of the essential features of the invention, that are claimed below.

Claims (6)

  1. A boat, of the kind consisting of a keel and upper body, built with a light material and which are joint by their passages and define a watertight cavity filled with air or with a filling material of low density, characterised in that the keel shows in its inner surface three swellings, one in the centre and two in the sides, appreciably semicylindrical, placed in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boat and defining between themselves grooves or flutings of the same length than the said swellings.
  2. A boat, as claimed in the previous claim, characterised in that the front ends of the swellings are bent towards the upper area with the purpose of facilitating the displacement of the boat on the water.
  3. A boat, as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the side swellings are placed slightly sloped towards the rear area with regard to the central swelling.
  4. A boat, as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the central swelling shows a higher height that the side swellings.
  5. A boat, as claimed in claims 1 and 4, characterised in that the front end of the central swelling defines two side planes converging on a central edge.
  6. A boat, as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the swellings show a height appreciably equal, and define in their front ends a central edge.
