Abstract

The support plate for the secure fixing of the front end of a ski boot is fitted with a boot restraining part (8) by a part of the sole (10). The support plate is compressible so as to adapt to variations of thickness of the sole clamped between the plate and the restraining part. A resilient body (12) is pre-compressed between a rigid movable part (1) which supports the sole and a rigid base (11) connected to the ski for limiting the deformation of the resilient body. This base has a rigid surface opposing the free deformation of the resilient body so as to constituted a non linear system, the resistance of which to pressure is relatively low in a first stage of deformation and higher in a second deformation stage.

Description

The present invention relates to a support plate for safety attachment of the front end of a ski boot on a ski, binding equipped with a shoe retainer by part of the sole protruding from the front end of the shoe pinched between the retaining member and the support plate sandwiched between the ski and the boot, said plate support being compressible so as to adapt to variations in the thickness of the sole portion pinched between the support plate and the retaining member.

Due to manufacturing tolerances, the thickness of the sole can vary by more or less a millimeter about. If the distance between the backing plate and the fixing retainer is fixed, the force with which the sole is pinched varies with the thickness of this sole. Pinch force excessive has the effect of increasing the values of triggering of the safety fixation and therefore alters the safety of the skier. This is also the case when a binding, which was originally set for a child's sole, is used by an adult.

Une absorption des tolérances d'épaisseur de semelles par un moyen élastique est également prévu dans le document DE-A-32 30186.From patent FR 2 665 868 we know a support plate consisting of a support plate from one piece with a base plate and connected to this plate base by a bent part forming elastic hinge. Following repeated bending, such a hinge presents risks of breakage due to fatigue material. In addition, such a support plate has practically constant resistance throughout its bending stroke. However, it would be wise for the force pinching of the sole by fixing is more higher for an adult than for a child. Indeed, a child is significantly lighter than an adult, so that the plate level adaptation to support variations in the thickness of the sole due to manufacturing tolerances should be done more easily than for an adult. So it would be desirable that the resistance of the backing plate to the pressure increases with pressure. An absorption of sole thickness tolerances by a means elastic is also provided in document DE-A-32 30186.

In document WO 91/08808, it is proposed to insert a layer of damping material between a backing plate and the ski, this cushioning material may exhibit progressive stiffness depending of its compression, because of its shape or the material who composes it. The sole purpose of this material is to absorb shock and vibration, but such backing plate will also tend to adapt, in some cases, to a variation in thickness of the sole.

The object of the invention is to produce a support plate systematically adapting to variations in thickness from the sole, especially as well to the soles children's shoes than shoe soles adult, offering greater resistance to weight of an adult than that of a child and capable also to bear deformations without fatigue repeated.

The support plate according to the invention is characterized in what it includes a precompressed elastic body between a rigid mobile element intended to support the sole and base linked to the ski and means of limitation of the deformation of the elastic body, these means consisting of at least one rigid face opposing the free deformation of the elastic body, in at least one direction, from a certain deformation of this elastic body, so that constitute a nonlinear system whose resistance to the pressure is relatively low in a first deformation range and significantly higher in a second deformation range.

According to one embodiment, the elastic body is in sleeve shape surrounding a rigid base, this base having, at least approximately, a form of trunk of pyramid or cone opposing the deformation of the sleeve from a certain degree of deformation.

The rigid element resting on the elastic body is advantageously surrounded and held vertically by a retaining body fixed to the ski.

The support plate according to the invention makes it possible to obtain relatively low pressure resistance in a first deformation range, for example two millimeters, and resistance to pressure significantly higher for deformation greater than two millimeters, for example between 2 millimeters and 3.5 millimeters, values corresponding to the maximum thickness of a shoe sole for adult. The level of the support plate and with it the sole gripping force will therefore adapt more easily to variations in thickness of a sole children's shoe.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two modes of execution of the support plate according to the invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view, without the fixation, of the first embodiment.

Figure 2 shows a vertical sectional view longitudinal, along the plane of symmetry, with the binding shown and the front of a shoe child engaged in fixing, represented in fine lines.

Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 with a adult shoe engaged in binding.

Figure 4 shows the ideal deformation curve of the backing plate as a function of the force exerted on this backing plate.

Figure 5 shows some section variants of the elastic body.

Figure 6 is a longitudinal sectional view of a second embodiment with children's sole.

Figure 7 is a view similar to Figure 5 with adult sole.

Une fois montée, la fixation vient recouvrir la partie 3.In Figure 1, there is a rigid element 1 surrounded and retained vertically by a retaining body 2 extended forward by a part 3 in the form of plate by which the body 2 can be fixed on a ski by means of two screws passing through holes 4 and 5. Once mounted, the attachment covers the part 3.

Figures 2 and 3 illustrate an example of setting work of the first method.

The central part of the plate support is occupied by a base 11 in the form of a trunk of four-sided pyramid. Around this base, is disposed a sleeve 12 made of elastic material, sleeve whose height is greater than the height of the base 11. By its base, the base 11 ensures positioning transverse of the sleeve 12, while its faces inclined allow the deformation of the sleeve in direction of the axis thereof.

The rigid element 1 is retained in the retaining body 2, on one side, by a heel 13 and, on the other side, by a lug 14 coming to be fixed with notch under a range 15 of the retaining body 2.

The sleeve 12 is made of elastic material, such as SBS, SEBS, PDM, EPM, TPU or natural rubber or synthetic. This material could be fluent.

The establishment of the rigid element 1 requires a some compression of sleeve 12. In the position shown in Figure 2, the sleeve 12 is therefore slightly pre-compressed, so that the plate already offers some resistance to compression. In this same figure, the thickness of the sole 10 of the illustrated children's shoe is and the pre-compression of the sleeve 12 provides a sufficient strength to oppose the descent of the rigid part 1. If the sole 10 has a slightly greater thickness, this variation thick will be absorbed by the sleeve 12, the compression of the sleeve resulting only in a slight increase in the pinch force of the sole, increase without consequence on the faculty trigger release.

It should be recalled here that the sole of the shoe is introduced obliquely under the body of retainer 8 of the fixing which constitutes the fulcrum of a lever constituted by the shoe which comes compress the support plate, on the one hand, under the effect weight of the skier and, on the other hand, under the effect of the rear fastener holding the heel of the shoe against skiing.

When children's shoe 9 is replaced by a 9 'adult shoe with 10' sole thicker than the sole 10 of the shoe child's, the support plate, that is to say the sleeve 12 is subjected to relatively high pressure. The sleeve 12 deforms transversely as well towards inside and out, the sides of the base 11 quickly opposing the deformation towards inside, so that the resistance of the sleeve 12 at deformation increases rapidly. When the pressure is sufficient, the rigid element 1 abuts against the base 11, this maximum lowering of the support plate corresponding to a thickness of sole 10 'maximum.

L'écrasement maximal considéré est de 3,5 millimètres correspondant à la position représentée à la figure 3.Figure 4 shows the shape of the variation in force F exerted on the support plate, force given in daN, depending on the crushing of the support plate. Starting from the origin, the curve shown presents a first part of slight slope extending approximately up to two millimeters of crushing. This area of the curve corresponds to a children's shoe sole. Crushing two millimeters is already obtained for a force of about 5 daN. From two millimeters of crushing, the slope of the curve increases rapidly. This zone corresponds to being crushed by an adult shoe. It extends over a range from approximately 5 to 20 daN. The maximum crushing considered is 3.5 millimeters corresponding to the position shown in Figure 3.

Quelques exemples sont représentés à la figure 5.The sleeve section could have another shape as the rectangular shape shown. A few examples are shown in Figure 5.

Generally speaking, the non-linearity of the relation pressure-deformation is obtained by means of limitation of the deformation of an elastic body, these means consisting of at least one rigid face opposing the free deformation of the elastic body homogeneous, in at least one direction from a certain deformation, i.e. of a certain degree deformation.

According to the second embodiment shown in the figures 6 and 7, the elastic body 16, in the form of a stud, is made of two superimposed materials 16a and 16b of different hardnesses. In the example considered, the upper layer 16a has a substantially hardness lower than layer 16b. The elastic body 16 is mounted in a recess of a base 17 fixed to the ski 6 and it is precompressed by a rigid element 18 mounted and retained in the base 17 as element 1 of the first mode of execution. The bottom of the base 17, in which rests the elastic element 16, forms a bowl 19 aux oblique walls. The dimension of this bowl 19 is such as during the deformation of the layer relatively hard 16b, the bowl opposes transverse expansion of the elastic body.

In FIG. 6, the shoe 9 is again a children's shoe, while in Figure 7, the shoe 9 'is an adult shoe. The thickness of the sole 10, in FIG. 6, is a thickness minimal. The precompressed elastic body 16 is not practically not deformed by the shoe. Yes the thickness of the sole 10 is a little greater than shown, the upper layer 16a of the body elastic 16 deforms so as to absorb this difference in thickness.

The sole 10 'shown in Figure 7 has a maximum thickness. The support element 18 is at its lowest level, resting on the base 17 and the elastic body 16 is strongly deformed.
