Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a data carrier, in particular a security ID card or the like, with an optically variable security element is provided, the optically variable pigments with or without weak body color.
For labeling data carriers and for protection against falsification or counterfeiting, various efforts have recently been made. In particular, the increasing quality of photocopiers has resulted that more and more optically variable elements on security documents were applied, the optically variable effect of copiers is not reproducible.
It is known from EP 0 317 514 A1 to have a layer on a document to apply iridescent substances at different viewing angles gives a different color impression. In particular suggested here that the iridescent substance should be flat on an underlying apply black, full-surface layer. The dazzling so produced Surface can be overprinted in a further step information is superimposed on this area.
Damit kann auch der Farbton des Farbwechsels gezielt eingestellt werden.EP 0 435 029 A3 also describes the use of liquid crystalline polymers known as optically variable elements, at which have a color shift effect with the change in the viewing or lighting angle sets. This effect is essentially due to the Helical structure of the liquid-crystalline phase in polymers by cross-linking fixed and beyond external conditions such. B. the mechanical pretreatment, can be adjusted. So that can also Tint of the color change can be set specifically.
The object of the invention is a data carrier and a method to propose its manufacture, which has a new optical effect and thus has increased protection against counterfeiting.
This task is characterized by the characteristics of the characteristic parts of the independent Claims resolved.
Weiterbildungen sind in den untergeordneten Ansprüchen genannt.Developments are mentioned in the subordinate claims.
The invention is based on the basic idea that the document first with information contrasting with the data carrier, such as e.g. B. one finely structured print. Then this information provided with an optically variable effect, at least over a portion of the information is a translucent, an optically variable Effect layer is applied. In particular can translucent optically variable layers are used which optically variable pigments with little or no body color exhibit. In addition, other translucent ones are optical variable layers can be used, such as B. interference layer structures or optically variable films such as liquid crystalline silicone polymer films.
The layer having an optically variable effect can be used within the scope of the Invention by coating, transfer printing, other application, Applying a film or printing can be applied. Exemplary the invention is described using the example of printing, however can also analogously apply the other techniques mentioned above for application the optically variable layer can be used.
Are structured print images with conventional color pigments printed on a data carrier exists with the inventive method the possibility of using this information with an optically variable effect Mistake. For this purpose, the information becomes flat at least in some areas provided with a translucent, optically variable layer, which e.g. an optically variable pigment with little or no body color having. The lack of their own body color in the optically variable Pigments clearly let these pigments work in those places come where the first ink on the disk as structured Underground. In contrast to this is the optically variable effect not or only barely visible in places where there is no background pressure is available. When using the above optically variable Pigments in printing inks are the width or the fineness of those that can be produced Structures limited and significantly higher than with common pigments achievable line widths, because the optically variable pigments in the Compared to the conventional pigments are much larger and thus information as a high-resolution structure through the immediate It is not possible to print the pigments. In addition, they are optical variable pigments because of their size in screen printing from a certain one Mesh size of the screen can no longer be printed, so that the generation a high-resolution structure with the help of this technology anyway. It is therefore a particular advantage of the method according to the invention to see that with this technique now also high-resolution structures with an optically variable effect can be provided if the high-resolution structures printed with the first printing ink and then with the printing ink containing the optically variable pigment be occupied.
With the invention, therefore, the advantage can be achieved that the document is provided with a high-resolution fine structure that also a previously unknown optically variable effect for the viewer having. The procedure according to the invention offers the further advantage that the formation of the fine structure and the formation of the optically variable Effects are decoupled from each other, so that for the desired Effect that uses pigments optimized for the application can be.
Further advantages and further training result from the subordinate ones Claims and the following figures, in their representation for the sake of clarity, no true-to-scale reproduction has been.

und hier insbesondere mit Farbkopiergeräten führt.1 shows a
Schicht, die optisch variable Pigmente enthält, übertragen.2 is an enlarged detail of the data carrier according to the
Bildwerte umzuwandeln.
In such cases, it is advantageous to
erzeugen.Additional protection against counterfeiting is obtained if the
Buchstaben "A" repräsentiert wird.
in Betracht.
Umgebung modifiziert ist.5 shows a
Eindruck beim Betrachter erzeugen.
gemacht.6 shows a further example of the
The optically variable element according to the invention can, as shown in FIG. 7,
can also be combined with the back of the document, so that in the

aufweist. The special property of the viewing angle-dependent, optically variable
Color overprints can also be combined with other security elements
be used to advantage. For example, the invention
Security element with a known per se from
A preferred exemplary embodiment is shown in FIG. 8. That on the
zuzuordnen.A further example of a data carrier according to the invention is shown in FIG. 9.

The previous examples show that those based on the basic idea of Invention based embodiments to a variety of concrete Design options lead. These in turn can also be with each other or with other already known optical security elements can be combined for data carriers. To create the first structured A suitable printing ink can be applied to the print. It exists also the possibility to create a structure by that certain areas are removed from a flat print become. On the one hand, etching techniques are available, but can also other methods, such as the laser ablation method, be used. The structure can also be created using a laser in this context can be viewed as imprints. For all the previous ones Embodiments can print high resolution, one or more colors and each with different colors his. In particularly advantageous embodiments, the structure generated as a line pattern, dot pattern, halftone image or the like.
In the exemplary embodiments mentioned above, it has also been shown that that the brilliance of the optically variable effect can be further increased can that before or after applying the optically variable colors the surface is smoothed.
The high-resolution fine structure can also be called a "negative structure" be applied in the case of an otherwise full-surface Imprint a fine line structure is created by recess, whereby In addition to the straight lines, others such as guilloches or Microprinted images of alphanumeric characters that can be generated then be overprinted with the optically variable colors. When overprinting the fine line structure, optically variable colors can be used be used, the one, several and / or also different optically variable pigments, such as liquid crystalline silicone polymers or iridescent pigments. Of course, it is also possible the color containing the optically variable pigments and / or the Color of the fine structure background with luminescent, magnetic, conductive or other feature pigments.
The color with which the structure is created can be used to achieve special effects is, also on the color of the optically variable applied Pigments are tuned so that at certain viewing angles the color of the optically variable element and the color of the background are the same. The optically variable substance or color in an area the structure is applied overlapping, contains optically variable pigments, who have little or no body color of their own, such as in particular interference layer pigments or based on liquid crystalline Pigments made from polymers. You can click on the respective structures produced by the first printing ink are printed in such a way that they cover them all over, even overlap them or only one at a time Cover part of the structure in certain shapes, characters or patterns.
In addition, the method according to the invention is not restricted to that the optically variable element directly on the disk is produced. Rather, it is also possible to have the optically variable element a separate carrier and then the element with the help to transfer one of the known transfer methods to the data carrier.
The optically variable element can also be printed, in particular realized with a fine line print, optically variable film his.
