Abstract

L'invention concerne une fibre d'une structure à séparation de phases masse-ilôt, dans laquelle la phase masse est constituée d'un polymère d'alcool polyvinylique très orientable et très cristallin, la phase ilôt est constituée d'un polymère cellulosique insoluble dans l'eau, présentant une excellente capacité d'absorption des liquides alcalins, une excellente résistance à la chaleur, et fondant difficilement, la taille de l'ilôt étant de 0,03 à 10 νm et sa résistance étant égale ou supérieure à 3 g/d. Cette structure peut être aisément séparée en fibrilles d'un diamètre de 0,05 à 8 νm par mouillage de la fibre et application d'une contrainte mécanique à la fibre résultante. La fibrille précitée est une fibrille hydrophile et à haute résistance, présentant d'excellentes caractéristiques de capture des particules fines, d'effets de renforcement, d'absorption des liquides alcalins, et de résistance à la chaleur et à la fusion. Cette fibrille ne provoque pas l'élution des constituants fibreux lors de la fibrillation, et n'entraîne pas la formation de bulles problématique lors du battage ou bien la pollution de l'environnement résultant d'une solution de battage. Cette fibrille est extrêmement utile comme séparateur en papier pour accumulateurs alcalins, fibre d'armature pour ardoises à ciment, fibre d'armature pour matériaux de friction, ou similaire.
