Abstract
Die herkömmlichen Verbrennungskraftmaschinen sind mit Ausnahme des Wankelmotors Hubkolbenmaschinen, die konstruktiv bedingt drehzahlenbegrenzt sind. Der thermische und mechanische Wirkungsgrad sind, ebenfalls konstruktiv bedingt, niedrig. Der konstruktive Aufbau ist sehr aufwendig und für die Herstellung der einzelnen Bauteile sind sehr teure Spezialmaschinen erforderlich. Bedingt durch die unvollkommene Gasverbrennung sind die CO und CO2-Werte ungünstig. Leistungssteigerungen dieses Motors sind nur noch begrenzt über neuartige Materialien möglich. Dieser Motortyp eignet sich nur sehr bedingt für die Verbrennung anderer Gase, wie z. B. Der Motor besteht nur aus wenigen Einzelteilen (zwei bewegte Teile, welche aus mehreren Teilen zusammengefügt sind) und für die Herstellung derselben sind keine Spezialmaschinen erforderlich.
